Lol @ the cops siiting in the parking lot, unsure what to do about me blowing bubbles, lit up with a flashlight, doing bubble photography 🤣
I'm under the bridge, drawing the under bridge.
Hey! ^_^ I wanted to share a thing or 3!
So first off, I just kicked meth and quit cigs (also I'm at about a year with alcohol)
I've been like hungry AF since I kicked, all 18 days of it, and just a moment ago I became food satisfied.
also I feel great and have been hella energetic! feels good to be feeling my feelings clearly again. I feel great about this kick! we got this!
almost none of the reasons why i support abortion rights have anything to do with babies. really it’s more about the fact that I think the government shouldn’t be able to force you to lend all your organs to someone else and change irreparably in the process. is a fetus a person? I don’t care! If it is a person, I don’t want anyone to be forced to host one against their will! If it isn’t a person, guess what? Nobody should be forced to host one against their will! What’s a soul? What’s a person? When does life begin? IRRELEVANT! A world in which the government can force anyone to manufacture an entirely new human body at the cost of their own is not a world I want to live in!
This is it! If it’s not okay for the government to roll up to your workplace and grab you and take you to a hospital and take out one of your kidneys to give to someone who needs it, or pull you into a van and hold you down to take a pint of your blood for someone who needs it, it’s not okay for the government to force you to carry a pregnancy! Life should ALWAYS be a freely given gift that we give to one another!
btw, that post had nothing to do with the topic that reblog was about. I'm super disconnected from media these days.
Okay here's my obligatory post about Tumblr users and their ignorance of rap, as a (white) fan of rap:
Saying "Not all rap music is about violence, here are alternatives" is not helpful, because the violent music ALSO has meaning.
When Biggie Smalls postures about his gang connections and packing heat, he isn't doing it because wow violence is so edgy, it's a powerful statement. Youth in urban areas where gang activity is heavy are often treated as lesser than by default, especially compared to black people the same age from a wealthy background. There's a reason that the "wholesome and respectable" black-lead entertainment of that era was stuff like the Cosby Show, with doctor-lawyer parents, or Family Matters, with a cop dad. There's a reason why the big joke of Fresh Prince is someone with a more unstable upbringing moving in with one of these model black sitcom families.
Standing up and saying yeah, I came from the mean streets, I was molded by this violence and yes, I did what I had to do to survive in a world that refuses to acknowledge my existence as meaningful or worthy of protection. I protected myself, I made my own way, and fuck anybody who tries to stand in the way of that.
Refusing to demonize that environment and wearing it like armor in a way that protects from the authority that wants you to see them as sub humans incapable of only violence and hatred, and saying HEY. I'm here, I lived this, and there is love and there is pain and there is ART in this.
That is powerful. That is the essence of gangster rap.
It isn't about hurting people for fun, it's about holding a mirror up to a society that does the hurting and then calls you a monster for what it's made you. Its about validating the experiences of the disenfranchised and biting back at authority. It's about turning a pain that the world say you deserve being one of those people from those places into POETRY. Into ART.
And thats why it matters.
And thats why you need to shut the yell up and stop dismissing it as violence without substance when you all sat on your ass listening to songs about Hatsune Miku eating people in middle school.
Violence should not be anyones' first language
up in my room now, I hear hella loud "I hate liars" come emphatically from the macaw... 🤣
(It is SO self descriptive and also descriptive of the other people who will still be living here in march.)
moving out of this living space at the end of the month. as I sit here boiling water for tea I am listening to a meeting comprised of them decommunalizing the shared spaces in our unit 🤢🤮🤢
the funny thing is that i don't think younger people - and i mean those under the age of 40 - really have a grasp on how many of today's issues can be tied back to a disastrous reagan policy:
war on drugs: reagan's aggressive escalation of the war on drugs was a catastrophic policy, primarily targeting minority communities and fueling mass incarceration. the crusade against drugs was more about controlling the Black, Latino and Native communities than addressing the actual problems of drug abuse, leading to a legacy of broken families and systemic racism within the criminal justice system.
deregulation and economic policies: reaganomics was an absolute disaster for the working class. reagan's policies of aggressive tax cuts for the rich, deregulation, and slashing social programs were nothing less than class warfare, deepening income inequality and entrenching corporate greed. these types of policies were a clear message that reagan's america was only for the wealthy elite and a loud "fuck you" to working americans.
environmental policies: despite his reputation being whitewashed thanks to the recovery of the ozone layer, reagan's environmental record was an unmitigated disaster. his administration gutted critical environmental protections and institutions like the EPA, turning a blind eye to pollution and corporate exploitation of natural resources. this blatant disregard for the planet was a clear sign of prioritizing short-term corporate profits over the future of the environment.
AIDS crisis: reagan's gross neglect of the aids crisis was nothing short of criminal and this doesn't even begin to touch on his wife's involvement. his administration's indifference to the plight of the lgbtq+ community during this devastating epidemic revealed a deep-seated bigotry and a complete failure of moral leadership.
mental health: reagan's dismantling of mental health institutions under the guise of 'reform' led directly to a surge in homelessness and a lack of support for those with mental health issues. his policies were cruel and inhumane and showed a personality-defining callous disregard for the most vulnerable in society.
labor and unions: reagan's attack on labor unions, exemplified by his handling of the patco strike, was a blatant assault on workers' rights. his actions emboldened corporations to suppress union activities, leading to a significant erosion of workers' power and rights in the workplace. he was colloquially known as "Ronnie the Union Buster Reagan"
foreign policy and military interventions: reagan's foreign policy, particularly in latin america, was imperialist and ruthless. his administration's support for dictatorships and right-wing death squads under the guise of fighting "communism" showed a complete disregard for human rights and self-determination of other nations.
public health: yes, reagan's agricultural policies actually facilitated the rise of high fructose corn syrup, once again prioritizing corporate profits over public health. this shift in the food industry has had lasting negative impacts on health, contributing to the obesity epidemic and other health issues.
privatization: reagan's push for privatization was a systematic dismantling of public services, transferring wealth and power to private corporations and further eroding the public's access to essential services.
education policies: his approach to education was more of an attack on public education than anything else, gutting funding and promoting policies that undermined equal access to quality education. this was, again, part of a broader agenda to maintain a status quo where the privileged remain in power.
this is just what i could come up with in a relatively short time and i did not even live under this man's presidency. the level at which ronald reagan has broken the united states truly can't be overstated.
A couple of these started earlier (before Nixon, for-profit health insurance was not allowed, and Nixon also started the war on drugs specifically to target minorities and anti-war activists), but Reagan doubled down on them and made them even worse. It was the difference between sliding down the side of a hill and jumping off a cliff.
The people behind project2025 started with Reagan
You just know the NYT has a “style guide” for this sort of thing.
Maybe someone there should get fed up and leak it.
Someone at CNN leaked it to the Intercept actually.
Also there is no way that CNN is the only compromised news that's doing this.
The Jerusalem bureau has long reviewed all CNN stories relating to Israel and Palestine. Now, it’s helping shape the network’s coverage of t
"The CNN staff member described how the policy works in practice. “‘War-crime’ and ‘genocide’ are taboo words,” the person said. “Israeli bombings in Gaza will be reported as ‘blasts’ attributed to nobody, until the Israeli military weighs in to either accept or deny responsibility. "
"Take a look around the world and you're going to find that nearly all mass media is owned and controlled by a handful of conservative capitalists. We must devise and implement alternative methods of distributing our news, our information, our ideas. People uniting worldwide to take a stand to tell the truth"

I'm tryna get down on agitating so MF hard it'll be like I'm Mother Goddamn Jones or something
Not sure I will ever be able to internalize the idea that they are problems. I can't think through we can't just be thought through and solved
money stuff is especially stressful, something about its abstract conceptness juxtaposed with the very real direct impacts it has on our lives, happiness and well being.
