Did anyone else notice that when Roman spears Dean, he wraps his arms around him fully? It’s almost as if he doesn’t want to hurt him too bad.
One of my favourite anecdotes about the first Golden Age of Piracy is that, at one point, Captain Henry Morgan left England in one ship, and arrived in the Caribbean commanding a completely different ship, and nobody knows why. What happened to the first ship and how he acquired the second one are entirely unrecorded.
At some point in his short career (1715 until 1718), the English pirate Ben Hornigold attacked a sloop near Honduras just to steal all the hats of the crew, because his own crew had gotten drunk the night before and they had tossed every single one of their own hats overboard.
Bartholomew Roberts, arguably the most successful pirate in history by ships captured (a whopping 470 in 3 years), didn’t actually want to be a pirate. His ship was captured and he was forced to join the pirate crew.
After the original pirate captain was killed, he was democratically elected captain of the pirate crew less than 6 weeks after being captured by them.
Tips for working with foam!
So for cosplay, one thing commonly used to make armor, weapons, etc. is foam sheets like these ones (usually find these at the hardware store)
or thin craft foam like these (easy to find at almost any craft store)
now i realize we talk about these a lot and that it’s pretty common knowledge to cosplayers around the world that this stuff is great but hey i figured i’d show you exactly what i’m talking about
ANYWAY here are some easy tricks that it took us a while to figure out when using foam for cosplay crafting
1) USE HEAT GUN! IT’S SUPER EFFECTIVE!
(this one here is a regular craft one but you can also buy the ones that are more industrial power tools)
these are great for working with foam for a few reasons. first, they gently melt the top layer of the foam to make it less absorbent and less textured (it melts all the little teeny bubbles in the foam, making it smooth). this is important for if you want to paint your foam and/or make it look metallic. second, it also works great for bending foam and having it keep its shape. if you run your heat gun over it for a bit and then hold it in a specific shape until it cools down it will hold the new shape but still be malleable (this works especially well with regular thin craft foam; the thicker you go the more times you have to repeat the process to get it to stick.
2) GO CRAZY WITH THE POWER TOOLS
we’ve found it SUPER useful to use our bench grinder
and a handheld dremmel tool with a sanding tip like this
these are a great way to smooth edges and shape foam. box cutters and x-acto knives tend to leave a really rough edge so to clean that up you hit it with either of these to smooth it out and shape it (**or round edges**). the dremmel also was great for helping weather things by grinding and denting it.
3) PLASTI-DIP IS BEAUTIFUL!
this stuff works great to give your foam a smooth, hard surface. it makes the foam less squishy and gives it that authentic metallic texture. AND its a great way to prime pieces for the real paint (especially if you’re using colored foam).
edit: also this plasti dip stuff helps a lot to keep your pieces more resilient. this way when your wearing/using them, and you knock into something, it wont dent as easily.
And the great thing is all of these (excluding the bench grinder and besides a dremmel works just as well it’s just smaller) can be found at a local craft or hardware store no problem so enjoy your beautiful creations :)
Another tutorial! This one tells you how to make articulated shoulder armor that bends with your arm. The shoulders were probably the most difficult piece for my Tyrael cosplay, so hopefully this will make things a bit simpler for others.
How to Keep Your Cosplay Construction From Being Overwelming
(Center Photo by Ken AD Photography)
Massive cosplay projects can get overwhelming. Many times I’ll be half way through a project and realize I’ve forgotten an important detail or forgotten to make a component of the costume entirely. Other times I’ll be getting close to a deadline and become overwhelmed with the work still left to do. I find that the best way to deal with these problems is to keep detailed lists.
I usually keep at least one spread sheet going that keeps track of what I need to do while working on a project. I will sit down and think about every element of the costume as I study reference photos and break down the costume into parts. I will then list every step that will be needed in order to make each piece. You can see an example of this in the picture below.
I find that when everything is broken down into small parts nothing seems overwhelming. This also helps with organizing and prioritizing. In the above list I realized that all the weathering and distressing for the costume (highlighted in yellow) could be lumped together and done at the same time. This would save me set up and clean up time when I did it.
Having everything laid out on paper also assists with setting up a time table. When you can see every step that needs doing you can organize it to fit in your schedule. You can fit those 15 minute touch up projects in at the end of a busy work day, or plan on doing 2 hour pattern drafting and mock-up session some time during a free day. This keeps you from neglecting the important aspects of your day-to-day life while still getting progress done on your costume
I also find that lists are particularly usefully if you are working with a large group of people and you need to organize who need to work on which details of what costumes. When everything is committed to paper it helps with misunderstandings or issues concerning who need to work on what parts. I find color coding is particularly useful for this, as seen in the picture below. If you know that all you have to do is work on everything in red then the project never gets overwhelming either.
This is something that I have found that works for me personally. I know that others have different ways of working on their cosplay projects and if you have any tips or tricks that you find work particularly well for you be sure to submit it and I’ll share it on the blog. :)
Masterpost for them. I’ll get to the others eventually.
To anyone with suicidal thoughts this year, thank you for sticking around. I'm so glad you are here.

Just a fraction of what the Alter Bridge Twitter account has been up to in the past day or so. Slow news week, eh? 😉
of the fourth fucking volume
RoosterTeeth apologists be like
The hell are we apologizing for? We’re telling the hecklers to knock it off, the act just started. Jeez.
“The act just started”
Volume. Four.
Forty. One. Episodes.
Five. Years.
Act 2. Of several.
Vol 1-3 make up a pretty good Act 1. We have the introductions of the characters, setting the stakes up, and at the end our characters face something that changes their scenario and forces them to react. The curtain fell with Volume 3 ending, now it’s rising again with 4. The characters have changed costumes, grown off-screen, and the play continues.
The act just started.
“Act 2. Of several”
Nine. Hours. Into. This. Series.
Five. Years.
Volume. Four.
Please address the fact that we’re almost 4 feature length films into this series and still don’t have something that was promised during volume one. Please.
Seriously, if that’s all you’re here for, the door is right there. Korra is across the street, Steven Universe still stops at nothing to deliver canon bi and lesbian characters all the time. (And not all of them are aliens.)
Meanwhile. You remember how Monty explained, quite clearly, how they’d had plans written up for the series for actual years? Including the years we’re currently going through? Guess what. They’ll get here when they get here. They’re still going to be a part of the plot when they were written to be. Maybe the Farmhand is transgender, maybe Blake goes full lesbian for a bi Yang, we don’t know. And we won’t know until the story gets there.
Until then. Just repeat to yourself, “It’s just a show, I should really just relax.” If you’re just here for one part of the show, and it isn’t on yet, you’re not really watching the show are you?
Lance my dude my guy did you really just tell someone to leave for holding a show accountable for lack of significant LGBT representation.
Did you really just tell someone to leave because they wanted rep.
Like, if Toby here had mentioned any specific ship then I’d understand, but dude. Monty talked about this five. years ago. Just because you can live without it doesn’t mean everyone else wants to??? It would be totally another thing if they had written in typical “homoerotic subtext” and never said a word about it but dude, they not only mentioned this, they specifically said “We’re going to have this thing,” and now that people are saying “Where’s the thing,” your response is “if that’s all you’re here for then get out” like you realize that’s pretty shitty right?
Also, Tobias wouldn’t be one of the biggest fucking blogs in the fandom if he didn’t like the show for more reasons than the possibility of LGBT rep he wouldn’t be like one of the most popular blogs in the fandom, and to make that statement is actually pretty laughable. It’s as backwards as calling Colin Keapernick “unamerican” because he believes Americans don’t shoot people because of their skin color.
And back to Tobias’ point, if I said to an audience after producing a newer version of the Tolkien films, “The elves are gonna be in future films” and then after four films we still have no elves, well that would make me a fucking liar wouldn’t it. sure maybe in a future film we might see elves, but after waiting for so long, don’t you think the majority of the audience would feel like it’s just being tossed to them out of pity? Like it was never intended to be there in the first place?
And that’s making the assumption that representation should be a fucking prize sometimes given to good gays and bis who watch their movie and give them money and are thankful to be included.
So excuse me if I’m “not really watching the show” because it’s missing something that was promised, and I know it’s only gonna feel like a consolation prize when it does happen. I’m sorry if I like accountability.
Jesus christ this is a mess.
I don’t care how big a blog he is. He’s being an asshole and degrading the show for personal issues. And now personal issues are being used as an excuse to devalue the story as is, just because it’s supposedly missing something. Don’t care who it is, that person is being harmful to the fandom. So putting that one to bed early.
Again. YOU don’t even need this to live, you want it. And yes, it was promised, and so it should damn well be delivered. I’m disappointed in this day and age it has to be promised up front, and isn’t just enjoyed as naturally and frequently as any het ship. That still doesn’t make it justifiable to act like the product is actively betraying you.
I’ve heard nearly every insult possible thrown at me in my time in this fandom, including homophobic for not actively shipping Bumbleby. Nevermind me actively shipping Ruby and Penny, never mind me enjoying the idea of Ruby and Blake as a couple, I liked Blacksun and disliked Bumbleby and that made me a monster. So you’ll have to forgive my bias on the subject.
You literally just explained the point for me. “Future films.” That doesn’t need to mean this one, the next one, or even the one after. We’re four volumes in now, just starting the next act. When things have started to change. Maybe we’ll see the first of many LGBTQ+ characters here, maybe we’ve already seen them, maybe we won’t until Volume 5. I don’t know. I do know with the plot slowed down to catch up with the cast, we’ve more time to focus on the characters.
So. If all Tobias and all the other whining knuckleheads can focus on is the lack of something, and use that lack to devalue everything else in the show? Yeah. Point blank. Not watching the show for the right reasons. It’s like watching the Indy 500, not to see who wins, but to watch people get into crashes, flail, and spin cars end over flaming end. You’re promised it, sure. But you don’t know when. And if that’s all you’re watching it for… You’re not watching the racing itself, are you?
Yes, it’s a flawed metaphor. But it’s as flawed as the one used against me, so I’m kinda less inclined to care.
It’s funny as fuck to me that you think I need to use the lack of LGBTQ+ representation to degrade the show when the show makes more than enough awkward and disappointing writing choices in the first place. Like lmao, there’re so many other things I can pick out about this plot, like the need for separate World Of Remnant episodes for worldbuilding purposes to discuss things that SHOULD be discussed in the actual show, but nah, I need the lack of rep. “You’ll get it when you get it” is some shit slavemasters told their slaves and I’m supposed to listen to that nonsense now and hope it comes soon. Smh, y’all bugging
“Why can’t we be friends *sniff* why can’t we be friends…..”
If you have this many complaints about the show, there’s the fucking door. Get out. Make your own content. Do something productive instead of bitching and moaning about how there aren’t any LGBT characters yet in a show that literally just exited its exposition arc.
Did you watch Red vs Blue? Did you notice that one of the main protagonists didn’t even show up until volume 9? Rooster Teeth takes their time with things. RWBY is going to be a very long show. It is quite literally in its infancy.
There are other shows out there with LGBT representation in them. Go immerse yourself in those shows if you’re not satisfied with how Rooster Teeth is handling their approach to canon LGBT characters.
They don’t owe you anything. They didn’t have to promise representation. Most of the world is cis and straight and they didn’t fucking have to promise LGBT representation. But they did. So sit your bitter ass down and be fucking patient. And if you’re unwilling to do that, then fucking leave. No one is stopping you. In fact, a lot of us would really appreciate if you took your negativity elsewhere and let the people who are happy with the show enjoy it unfettered by your bullshit.
LGBT people like you give the rest of us a bad name. Stamping your feet like a petulant child when you don’t get what you want, when you want it, from a TV show is fucking shameful and you should really take a look at your priorities in life if this, this is what you’re upset over.
Grow the fuck up.
Nah, Imma stay here and wait for the representation that people were promised and I’m gonna keep complaining until they do. If you don’t like it BLOCK ME. Lmao, you don’t have to stress your poor self out by getting into debates all the time.
Oh I’m not stressed out. Debates don’t stress me out honey, and this is not a debate. This is you crying like a five year old who was told they can’t have dessert until they eat dinner first. I am simply pointing you towards the door.
And are you actually straight, as your bio says? Because if you are, then literally shut up about LGBT representation. We don’t need you complaining on our behalf. There are already enough petty gay people bitching about representation and trying to bully artists into giving them what they want without straight people joining in too.
If you want representation so bad then go make content of your own instead of throwing a hissy fit when you aren’t given instant gratification.
“Instant gratification” it’s been 5 years 9 hours and 41 episodes
“If you don’t like it leave” Like I said, nah. I’m gonna keep pointing out the unanswered promises they made. You’re free to keep yelling at the sky for it to stop raining, but imma keep raining regardless on your poor parade regardless. You don’t like it, block me.
“If you want rep so bad, go make your own” I already post my own stuff and make my own stories. I can still enjoy and criticize this show for broken promises. Your arguments are irrelevant as are you
I don’t normally jump in on discourse, but… We wouldn’t be complaining about the show if we didn’t watch it for more than the lack of promised representation. We love the show and still come back time and time again even through it’s numerous questionable writing choices throughout the show thus far. It’s stupid to say we’re children for wanting to see more of ourselves in the characters we love, it’s even made more stupid by the fact that this representation isn’t or shouldn’t be hard to give. Het storylines in the show are often brought up and it honestly should be just as easy to do LGBTQ+ storylines. I’m not good with shutting down bigots, but I know @sssn-neptune-vasilias is. If you don’t like what he has to say, then stop trying to start shit and just block him like he said. You wanna talk about growing the fuck up, but you’re over here throwing sand at someone in a different sandlot.
GUYS. FOR. FUCK. SAKE.
The. Protagonist (and majority of the cast). Are. Teenagers.
Teenagers who have spent their life so far learning to fight, and actually in combat. For some people relationships are simpler to approach. Look at Ren and Nora. Since they arrived on screen, that ship has been represented and yet its gotten no further thus far. And that’s between two people who have know each other all their damn life. Almost all the other Beacon students didn’t meet until they arrived at the school. These aren’t everyday young adults. They spend their time fighting monsters that are the epitome of negativity. And it is live or die combat. You know what, I may not have found my exams at that age stressful, but I would sure as fuck find that to be.
And yes, there are characters that aren’t teenagers. Who haven’t had a particularly large amount of screen time. And what screen time they have had, they’ve been doing things relevant to the story. Because they aren’t the protagonists. This is not their story.
Think of how it would be for these teenagers to experience. And think how awkward it could be for them. Especially, if LGBTQ+ are a particular minority in the world of Remnant.
Look at Ruby. She is younger than all of her peers. And she’s introverted. She’s not ready to develop those kind of feelings yet.
Look at Weiss. She is the daughter of nobility, and she already is rebelling against what her strict father is demanding of her.
Look at Blake. The person she was closest to was abusive and controlling, and yet she stayed by his side, even defending him, because she wasn’t developed enough as a person to recognize what Adam was. The Blacksun ship is only getting ground because Sun was proactive in making it happen.
Look at Yang. She literally says she goes with the flow. She isn’t one to divert from social norms.
Look at Jaune. He is utterly clueless. Not really gonna expand on that.
Look at Nora. The only person she had was Ren. No doubt people will tend to think of them as a couple, and she’d be forgiven for finding that awkward whether or not she likes him in that way.
Look at Pyrrha. She is a prestigious warrior, who has troubling finding people who treat her as an equal. She is always having to deal with how people view her, as she is a celebrity.
Look at Ren. Ren is the same spot as Nora.
These are teenagers. There will be representation in time. You may see it as five years, but think of how little development there has been across the board in those five years. Jaune still doesn’t have his semblance. Blake is still going through trust issues. Yang still hasn’t gotten anywhere with her search for her mother. The time will come. Yes, you were promised it. Yes, it is already 4 volumes and we haven’t got it yet. Yes, it could have easily have been put in.
HOWEVER. If people in the FNDM keep fighting over it all, taking petty stances and throwing insults or requesting that anyone who disagrees with them to simply censor what they view, then it is not deserved. THAT ISN’T SIMPLY ON THIS SUBJECT EITHER. Ships don’t deserve representation if they act so childishly. This is why, despite liking the ship, I don’t think Bumbleby should be implemented in the series because of the way a lot of Bumbleby shippers have acted. And that goes for everything else too. RWBY is a show with a lot of problems within it. With time these will be ironed and tuned. It’s never going to be perfect, but it will get better.
One last thing, which I say almost every time I make a post regarding the FNDM. We are Monty’s legacy. We are the inheritors of the amazing world he crafted. And each of us, has the right to enjoy that world. That does come with the responsibility of looking after the FNDM and those within it. Before you voice an opinion, try to think what would Monty say. Ask yourself, does this bring the FNDM together or pull it apart. Am I being respectful to those who will read this? Do not call members of the FNDM irrelevant.
DO NOT CALL MEMBERS OF THE FNDM IRRELEVANT.
DO NOT CALL MEMBERS OF THE FNDM IRRELEVANT.
Hi @nevermoreagrimm,
I just wanted to ever so politely let you know that you wrote a festering pile of shit literally no one worth their salt will engage in beyond telling you to not reduce very legitimate concerns about representation for LGBT+ people to “petty stances”. So, again, quite politely, fuck you and your irrelevant ass.
Sincerely,
Management
@sunwukong-stoaway How is holding Rooster Teeth accountable for their promises a bad thing? And what’s this nonsense about “they’ll get here when they get here”? Because according to Miles:
So I’m confused. According to you, we have to wait. But according to Miles, they’re already here. Which one should we believe? Since you seem to know all things Rooster Teeth and taken it upon yourself to tell other fans how they should feel about Rooster Teeth queerbaiting us, since literally promising they’re there but not giving any indication where or who is the actual fucking definition of queerbaiting, could you please tell me where the LGBT characters are? Who they are? Who they like? Anything of relevance to this?
Except – and here’s the kicker – you have literally no idea what the fuck you’re talking about. It took me two seconds to debunk your first point, the one you predicated your entire crapshot argument on, so let’s take it as a given that it’s established you’re full of as much shit as your points.
“I don’t care how big a blog he is. He’s being an asshole and degrading the show for personal issues. And now personal issues are being used as an excuse to devalue the story as is, just because it’s supposedly missing something. Don’t care who it is, that person is being harmful to the fandom. So putting that one to bed early.”
LMFAO and you’re not? Literally telling LGBT+ fans to fuck off and get out if they don’t like how the show treats us? Trying to dismiss LGBT+ representation as “personal issues”? Should we instead push for political issues instead, or would you complain about how we should keep politics out of RWBY, an inherently political show (or did you miss the entire memo about the White Fang? That wouldn’t surprise me, given that you seemed to not get notified about Miles confirming LGBT characters are already in the show, despite their being nowhere. Guess you’re just not important enough for those emails, bud. :/)? Even then, surprise, the personal is political can be and is a thing for, wait for it, LGBT+ fans, especially if they’re also people of colour! Shocker!
“I’ve heard nearly every insult possible thrown at me in my time in this fandom, including homophobic for not actively shipping Bumbleby.”
“Why is it that I, a straight, have to endure such suffering? Why, I tried to be an Ally, and yet I was called the homophobia…truly woe is me…from this day forth, I vowed to hate the Gays and talk about how not shipping bumbleby doesn’t make me homophobic despite telling LGBT+ peope to fuck off for wanting their rightful promised representation making me homohpobic anyways…”
You just tried to compare Indy 500 car crashes to the lack of LGBT+ representation, my dude. How embarrassing.
You say it’s a flawed metaphor but you tried to justify your point…bud, your entire argument is flawed. Your entire outlook on this is flawed. You cannot possibly imagine this, nor do you clearly have any empathy for LGBT+ people because you legit pulled the “don’t like it, get out, who cares if it’s 2016 and LGBT+ people should be on television, especially when promised from the very beginning”. You don’t give a shit about it, you just want people to shut up, but if anyone should, it’s y ou so you don’t go giving everyone second hand embarrassment every time you post anything other than your roleplays. Stick to what you know, and I don’t mean the bigotry part you seem hella familiar with.
The funniest thing is how you’re a Sun roleplay blog but couldn’t see through your own false bullshit and how you’re harming LGBT+ fans while telling them they’re harming others for wanting to be represented. Out here telling LGBT+ people they’re harmful for wanting to see people like them. Gee, it’s almost as if you’re trying to paint LGBT+ folks as the aggressors just for existing…
At any rate, I’m proud to offend your heterostraight sensibilities, or, jusdging from this colossal wall of fallacious self-defeating arguments of yours, lack thereof. :^)
As for @egalitarian-nature-blog:
“They don’t owe you anything. They didn’t have to promise representation. Most of the world is cis and straight and they didn’t fucking have to promise LGBT representation.”
“LGBT people like you give the rest of us a bad name. Stamping your feet like a petulant child when you don’t get what you want, when you want it, from a TV show is fucking shameful and you should really take a look at your priorities in life if this, this is what you’re upset over.”
LMFAO. Wow. “The straights didn’t have to be decent people, you should be grateful they said they would be, even though they haven’t provided any evidence of doing what they said they’d do and took the brownie points for claiming they were already there! Grow up! How dare you want to see yourself in media! I, an LGBT, do not have any problem with it, so you as an LGBT person shouldn’t either!”
I’m not even gonna offer up too much on that front because they’re out here saying “how dare you try to be represented in a TV show” or trying to reduce issues in a TV show as though media doesn’t directly influence and affect our lives. But okay. Whatever you say, egalitarian-nature-blog. You don’t need my help embarrassing yourself.
Alright, kiddo. Since you were so polite in your response, I’ll be gentle.
What exactly was wrong with the argument I put forward? You’re jumping to conclusions, so I would like to be sure that you can indeed read and understand, correct? Comprehension is not beyond you? At what point did I “reduce very legitimate concerns about representation for LGBT+ people to ‘petty stances’”? Go on tell me, quote the example I used. I think you will find that I deliberately worded that argument to be relevant to several different issues experienced in the FNDM, not limited to LGBT+.
Or if you’d like me to simplify that for you:
Bring your argument, kid. I’m not one for backing down when I’m right.
Well, since you asked, here’s an abridged version:
You think sexuality gives a shit what kind of world you live in?
“She’s not ready to develop those kind of feelings yet.”
You think sexuality gives a shit when you’re ready to develop feelings?
Lol, as if Yang hasn’t been taking strides to make her relationship with her canoncial “partner for the next four years” Blake Belladonna a better, more healthy one. Okay.
Also…holy shit. Did you legit just question whether or not Nora has feelings for Ren? Holy shit. Her feelings for Ren are so blatantly telegraphed in the series that she even has a song about it on the second soundtrack, called “Boop”. Literally all about her feelings for Ren., and how she’s in love with him. Holy shit. It’s plenty evident you don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about.
It’s amazing how, after all your heroic effects at trying to end Homophobia in a not at all homophobic “the people who are calling out LGBT folks are wrong and the LGBT people are petty for wanting representation and we need to think of each other” way, you find the time to tone police. Truly a modern miracle, you are. How do you do it? :)
Onto the last matter, how many seats would you like to sit for, since you haven’t a leg to stand on? I suggest several. Act now and I can offer you a good deal on them.
Ok, thank you for getting back to me. I appreciate the response. However, you’re still making mistakes, and misunderstanding me. Perhaps that is at least a little bit of my own fault. Words may be my playground but each person has their own connotations that I’m not so bold as to claim I can adhere to.
So firstly, give me a full retort, not some abridged version. There’s all the time in the world to have this argument heard. I wouldn’t like to cause more misunderstanding between us due to a lackluster argument.
Anyway, onto the actual argument at hand.
“You think sexuality gives a shit what kind of world you live in?“
No. That is not what I said at all. The quote you highlighted above this statement makes no such claims. Here, I’ll attempt to clear up your misunderstanding for you. The quote you highlighted starts talking about being a teenager going through trying to understand your sexuality. Trying to make sense of it. Something that people can go through regardless of sexuality. But it takes into account the fact that these aren’t your everyday teenagers. They are warriors as well. They have signed up to fight for their life. The stress of which certainly wouldn’t help when you’re trying to figure out who you are. LGBT+ being a minority also adds stress to this, so when I mentioned Remnant, it isn’t to ask sexuality if it cares that these characters are in Remnant. It was to say “Maybe Remnant has a LGBT+ minority, which i adding to why these teenagers aren’t ready to come out yet”.
“You think sexuality gives a shit when you’re ready to develop feelings?”
Again, you’ve yet again misunderstood, so I’ll continue spelling it out. Ruby is still a kid. She isn’t emotionally developed enough for relationships, be they lesbian, bisexual or heterosexual. Ruby’s innocence, her child-like innocence has been heavily leaned on. Sexuality doesn’t get a say yet. It will once she begins to grow enough for sexuality to become something she can begin to understand. So, to answer your question: Sexuality doesn’t come into it for Ruby, as it isn’t something that is running through her mind at the moment.
“Lol, as if Yang hasn’t been taking strides to make her relationship with her canoncial “partner for the next four years” Blake Belladonna a better, more healthy one. Okay”
I have said that I do like the Bumbleby ship. My problem with it is that the Bumbleby shippers haven’t been respectful to other members of the FNDM and thus have forfeited being represented in the show. Yes, you are correct in that Yang has taken strides to make her relationship with her canonical “partner for the next four years” Blake Belladonna a better, more healthy one. But that relationship thus far has been a friendship, not a romantic one. Sun was proactive in becoming Blake’s romantic partner. I notice you also highlighted my little bit about Yang going with the flow. Your argument didn’t actually address this, so I’ll assume that was something you cut out of your abbreviated version of your argument.
“Also…holy shit. Holy shit. It’s plenty evident you don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about.”
Yea, I really like Boop, listen to it all the time. But it isn’t implemented in the story. It’s a song that exists outwith the characters, but about them. Yes, it is very clear that Nora cares for Ren, however she might not actually see him as a romantic partner going by what we have seen in the show. You see, there can be thousands of songs written for the series about a ship, it still won’t make it real for those characters. It has to be implemented in the story, with interactions between the characters. Going by the show, Nora could see him more as a family member. Which was my point when I said “whether or not she likes him”.
“It’s amazing how, after all your heroic effects at trying to end Homophobia in a not at all homophobic “the people who are calling out LGBT folks are wrong and the LGBT people are petty for wanting representation and we need to think of each other” way, you find the time to tone police. Truly a modern miracle, you are. How do you do it? :)”
I question your comprehension once more. Perhaps you glossed over that part. That quote you highlighted, that whole paragraph has nothing to do with LGBT+ nor homophobia. Why would it? And in what way am I saying that LGBT+ folk are wrong? Well, I can’t really argue against a nonsensical retort, so I’ll explain that paragraph for you, as that should clear things up.
So, I started off letting you know that this last section is something I say whenever I’m writing to the FNDM, regardless of whether its about representation, Shane’s open letter, or ships. I then reach out, with hope that those reading will see that this FNDM is more than ships, its more than viewers, its more than your opinions. This FNDM is the congregation of people (heard that word before? People? You know, just like you are a person with a heartbeat and a mind and with feelings that can be hurt, so are the rest of us in this FNDM.) who are tied together through the story that Monty started to tell.
You should take my next sentence and think over it a bit: That does come with the responsibility of looking after the FNDM and those within it. That means regardless of whether they agree with your point of view. Regardless of sexuality, regardless of who they ship, regardless. Calling members of the FNDM irrelevant, belittling those who argue against you, is not what Monty would have wanted to see in this FNDM. This is what I mean when I say bring the FNDM together, don’t pull it apart. We are all here because we like RWBY. Because we want to see these characters. Because we care about them. That is everyone in the FNDM, not just those who agree with you, not just those who ship the same ships as you, but everyone. Calling members of the FNDM irrelevant lowers you and your argument when you are trying to fight for representation. The Bumbleby ship does not deserve to be represented in the show as there are many Bumbleby shippers who attack the majority of ships that include either Yang or Blake but not both. The FNDM should be a safe place for everyone who came here to appreciate RWBY. If you disagree with that, perhaps you should take some time to reflect and explore why you feel the way you do, and perhaps you should try to get to know Monty through what is left of his presence to figure out if Monty would take your side.
Your turn, kiddo.
Sincerely,
An openly pansexual of the FNDM
tbh i ain’t read all that because you’ve proven already you didn’t even know nora liked ren and tried to argue that people aren’t ready for their sexuality as though it waits for them so i’m just gonna politely say no shade but fuck you and leave it at that. you don’t get to demand a full retort of me when your basic premises are lacking.
sincerely,
someone who doesn’t give a shit if you’re pansexual because you’re still being homophobic
That’s not an argument response. So I take it you concede? You aren’t going to read what I’ve written in retort? You know that’s called ignorance, kiddo. Perhaps if you did read it, then you’d learn how wrong you are. Shame, I was arguing in hope I could raise you to a better level. I didn’t demand a full retort, I explained why an abridged version is inferior, so when I said “give me a full retort” it was for your own benefit. It would make sense to think you were capable of giving that full response, as you have given me the abridged version. Even now, you’re still mistaken, I was fully aware of Ren and Nora, which is why I included it in the first part of my first argument.
I’ll be honest, I am disappointed you won’t continue to defend your views against mine out of your own ignorance.
And finally, I am not being homophobic. If you think I am, you are wrong and I will happily have a separate argument on that particular matter.
please explain to me how i’m wrong, and how you’re not homophobic
I already have. If you’d feel up to reading my argument
it has a lot of big words and i’m confused. could you simplify it for me? especially the part about sexuality
Sure thing honey, what particular parts are you struggling with? Any words tripping you up? I’m more than happy to help
all of it
Ok, I can help with that. Let’s go through my argument piece by piece. I hope it’s ok, but I’m not going to do this in the order I presented my argument above. I would actually rather like to start with where I left of my first response as I think it has utmost importance in your case.
“One last thing, which I say almost every time I make a post regarding the FNDM. “
That is what I said, so I’ll go through and simplify it for you. Basically, I want to make sure you are aware that the FNDM is made up of lots of people. And you see, when lots of people come together, they tend to encounter problems if some of those people cannot see past their own views. Can you see why Monty Oum would want the FNDM to be consisting of people who can still work together and respect one another regardless of their personal views? When you voice your opinion, is it something Monty would be proud to say “That’s a member of the FNDM I brought together.”? Would Monty support you calling other members of his FNDM irrelevant?
what do you mean by “legacy” how do you define that that’s the part that really flies over my head could you explain that to me
Ok, it’s a bit of a less important note in that particular point I was making, but fair enough.
So, legacy refers to something left or handed down by a predecessor. Monty brought a story he wanted us to experience when he made RWBY. With the birth of that story, the FNDM was brought together. Unfortunately, Monty is no longer with us. RWBY is still going, but Monty is not the one telling the story anymore. He is gone and the FNDM was what was left.
ooooh. i get it. every thing you said makes sense now.
So, you see why you shouldn’t call members of the FNDM irrelevant?
of the fourth fucking volume
He is gone and the FNDM was what was left.
of the fourth fucking volume
Would Monty support you calling other members of his FNDM irrelevant?
of the fourth fucking volume
I’m more than happy to help
of the fourth fucking volume
