Huh, so tumblr really did walk back the posting-area-at-top changes. The change was brief enough that, though I knew it happened, I somehow didn't notice the change back.

alright I've got to do some quick math to explain attitudes towards AI to my boss.
we're looking to create an AI policy, and when we were talking about this, my boss (older millennial) was genuinely shocked to hear that younger people do not (seem) to view AI positively (a la the recent commencement speakers being booed)
please rb for larger sample size!
Question 1/3
What is your age, and do you feel AI is a net positive or net negative in our lives today?
under 18, AI is a net positive
under 18, AI is a net negative
18-29, AI is a net positive
18-29, AI is a net negative
30-45, AI is a net positive
30-45, AI is a net negative
46-60, AI is a net positive
46-60, AI is a net negative
over 60, AI is a net postive
over 60, AI is a net negative
Question 2/3
How often do you visit or interact with museums/archives (whether in person or online)?
Frequently (multiple times per month)
Often (multiple times per year)
Occasionally (a couple times per year)
Rarely (once every couple of years)
Never :(
Question 3/3
If you saw a museum was using AI in exhibits, marketing, research, etc., would you be more or less inclined to visit that museum?
under 18, more inclined
under 18, less inclined
18-29, more inclined
18-29, less inclined
30-45, more inclined
30-45, less inclined
46-60, more inclined
46-60, less inclined
over 60, more inclined
over 60, less inclined
Thank you for helping with this data collection. Please rb for as big a sample as possible!

Still bouncing wildly between trying to experience WPRB as it happens due to lack to archiving and doing weird stuff like listening to the archives of my undergrad's station's many automated hours since they have very few real shows. This would be WBRS. I sort of enjoyed them as a student and I have to thank their random automated stuff for introducing me to Devin Townsend sometime back in 2011-12, but otherwise I was never too impressed back in the day. I liked the one hour I did today though.
But really, WPRB does continue to be excellent and mostly to my taste. It's just humbling to think about how many stations there are out there though.
i love writing out numbers and then putting them in parentheses like "one (1)" even when i dont need to i think its funny
So, about that post about WPRB...look, they continue to be superb, but I found a catch. They seem to be one of the only stations of this sort that doesn't make archival recordings of their shows that you can listen to for at least a few weeks. As I may have said before, many college stations do this, though with absolutely awful playback functions - the standard Spinitron player only lets you jump to fixed points 15 minutes apart, and I knew a player that, if you paused it, would always start again from the beginning, not where you paused. WFMU actually has a good archive player and its archives might be way deeper. But WPRB seems to have nothing.
Having looked everywhere to no avail, I did email the station manager about it. I also politely asked why, assuming I'm not wrong, they do this. I'll be intrigued to know.
I gotta say, as interesting as WFMU can be, sometimes it's a bit too odd for me and while its custom playlist page setup is pretty neat, I don't love the somewhat inconsistent way the DJs engage with it.
Since I started this whole endeavor Sunday night, I'm getting a lot of mileage out of something from the complete opposite end of the state. WPRB is Princeton's radio station, though it's sort of...indirect enough that I kinda didn't realize it was officially theirs until just now. It almost feels sort of at arms length.
Almost every show I've heard is a really interesting music mix, they've got a neat playlist setup that seems like Spinitron (which of course is the gold standard in widely-available systems to me) with some tweaks, the same good pop-up player as WFMU does, etc.
Not every Ivy League school even has a radio station, believe it or not. Some exist but are rather insignificant. WPRB seems influential, high-quality, and they've got a really powerful FM signal too...which is irrelevant to me up here in CT but it's unusual and notable. Lucky are those in range of them!
Since I have no idea if I'll actually be able to pick up WFMU or any of its offshoots when I'm in a very specific spot in northern New Jersey in July for just one night for a wedding, I am trying to commit to listen to this absolute legend more via streaming and it's not disappointing so far. (Re: my concerns though, I feel like sure the point of them having a fair amount of repeaters and translators is to cover a large, uninterrupted area in northeastern NJ and the adjoining portion of NY, right?) (FWIW I think one of the things will just barely work but if I say what it'll sorta dox the wedding location.)
I came very close to posting but then I got distracted. So, good night. I spent a bunch of time today/tonight in various Broadcastify feed archives touring police/fire (mostly police) reactions in the moment as they experienced the Boston-area meteor boom from this afternoon - being in a whole other part of New England I didn’t hear about it until an hour after the fact. No time to comment on that now but I feel really bad for all those dispatchers. If any of you who live around there heard it I’d be interested to hear your thoughts although I imagine they’re not very extensive.

Doing a final project in my stats class, we have to pick a subject and collect data on it. We need at least 100 data points, and I figured this blog is big enough that a poll on here could get to that pretty easily!
Doing my project on if it’s more likely to be born in certain months :]
I have gotten the OK from my teacher to collect data using a Tumblr poll, btw. I’m also going to have to send her this post as proof of where I got the data from / proof I didn’t just make up the numbers. So. Behave
