DETROIT, MI -- Like it or not, The Satanic Temple's Detroit chapter appears here to stay.It is the first chapter of its kind in the U.S. established outside of New York, and has meetings weekly or biweekly which attract about 15 to 20 active members. Jex Blackmore, The Satanic Temple of Detroit's 32-year-old director, believes the group is in an "incredible position" for growth since it launched five months ago. Blackmore has made it her mission to help educate the region about Satanism -- what it is and what it isn't. And she's not afraid to accept criticism, too. "We want to bring people in and empower them to be active satanists in their personal lives," Blackmore said. :Then we can all come together and do work when there's a need -- when there's a political need, a need for some kind of action." MLive.com caught up with Blackmore at a Satanic Temple of Detroit-sponsored party on Feb. 13, the day The Dirty Show erotic art event kicked off at the Russell Industrial Center.

So tonight I get to be the photographer for a private party by the Satanic Temple of Detroit! Supposedly John Waters was invited along with some folks from Vice. Who knows who else might show their faces. Feels good being the only guy there permitted to have a camera. Sadly, I cannot show any of you the photos or post them. Well, for now anyways.
