Even if the blood could be washed out, she’d never be able to don that particular garment again. “Yes.” A simple one word answer. “I couldn’t stop it.”

She’s not sure if the resurrections will have any lingering impacts on the recipients.

“Thank you, Stephen.” The words are soft. “You and I are in agreeance. Whatever it is, it’s a formidable force. Some are easier to kill than others, but at that intensity? What happened is not a gas leak or a common tragedy. The fact that there are some who are so quick to dismiss it or make excuses is more than a little troubling to me.”

Grief clouds the mind. Wanda knows that better than most. Was she not the woman who had reincarnated her two dead children into new beings? She was the one who had Decimated the mutants because her grief was insurmountable. Wanda knows grief like she knows every freckle and flaw on her body. The difference between the girl she was and the woman that she’s become is that she’s learned how to utilize her grief. It’s a tool, not a detriment. “Felt, perhaps, but disregarded by some. I know how to manage my grief, Exodus, but thank you. I know if I am to see the light at the end of this tunnel it is through finding the truth.”

She’s sure that Scott is acutely aware of that fact, and as a result must be wary. “I remain in pursuit of whoever this someone is. There is only so many places that one can hide. Normally, I would ask the Council for assistance. In this case, I fear I must labor alone.”

Charles hadn’t even made an effort to step forward and say goodbye to his best friend while he died, and here he was trying to console his daughter. He was mourning Max, even through the red diamond concealed on his forehead.

If there’s anyone who should understand, it supposed to be Charles Xavier. Wanda knows that he loved her father, his oldest “friend”. The two had a long complicated relationship that Wanda knows snippets of. She would have expected Charles to be with her by Max’s side when he died, but she had sat alone with his body. Charles had not been there. “Thank you,” her head dips but her gaze remains icy. “In his last moments — as he lay dying — I can’t help but think he would have liked to see your face.”

I think he hid behind his power until he learned to let others in.” How beautiful it had been to have Max Eisenhardt as a father over the last couple years. He had shown up in all of the ways that counted. “I’m sorry to hear of your loss,” Wanda pauses. “Both that one and the recent loss of life. How are you feeling?” Something about the situation has her on edge.
