I completely agree with you. The book made you want to keep reading and never stop because of the built up suspense following each page. But the movie seemed way to dragged out and wasn't very suspenseful. I still think it was a good movie but could have made it better.

The movie closely resembled the book except for a few parts. The movie never showed the baby roasting on an open fire. And also showed how the father and son slept in cars and the book didn't express that. For me the book went more into detail as it should but the movie was also a good follow up of the book.

I agree with you! I wish there was a second book to follow up on the story line. I want to find out what happens to the boy and his new companions. I would also like to know what happened and how the world got to be the way it was!

A little late on this post, it’s been a busy week. Hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving and a safe time Black Friday shopping. Not much to talk about since we only had one day of class, and haven’t read anything. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to start the movie. I Still haven’t finished my paper yet (I’m a procrastinator). Can you believe we only have a few weeks till we’re done! I have really enjoyed this class.

Happy thanksgiving to everyone. I guess this post should be about the ending and summing up "the road". To me it was a very interesting book and I really enjoyed reading it. I would recommend it for more people to read. It is very suspenseful and exciting as you fly through the pages.

The book "the road" is a very exciting novel to read. I love post-apocalypse stories and this book is a great interpretation of that. The way the man and son have to fight for their lives day in and day out, makes me want to just finish the book. There so much suspense in this book that you can't stop. Now I'm just waiting to find out how the book ends.

I think "the road" is so much better than a visit from the goon squad. It's so much easier to read and is a lot more exciting. I'm still just trying to figure out what's going on and what happened to cause what they are going through.

The road is a very interesting book to read and it flows very easily. The way that the father and son are trying to survive in a desolate wasteland and it seems like everything is trying to kill them puts a very exciting and suspenseful feeling on the reader. Now I'm just trying to finish it.

It was a very weird and confusing book to understand. Everywhere in the book there was either a passage of drugs or sex it seemed like. Not my favorite book at all! To me it was difficult to read and keep up with all of the characters and time frames.

While finishing the book " a visit from the goon squad" I came to the second to last chapter and was really confused. Chapter 12 is a pretty long chapter and is only short PowerPoints. I wasn't really sure what the purpose of this was but I guess it brought a little significance to the novel but to me it was just a bunch of wasted ink....

Agreed. The changing of narrators in every chapter was quite annoying. And especially jumping from different time eras. It made it hard to read and I wasn't very intrigued by this book!

As I read a visit from a goon squad, my mind jumps all over the place trying to think of different ways to view this novel. It's still confusing to me but I didn't really enjoy this book at all. To me it was all over the place jumping from narrator to narrator and I could never fully grasp what was going.

This week we started A visit from the goon squad. So far to be honest the book is really boring. I don’t know why it think its probably because of the structure of the book. Yet certain chapters are not that bad. I really enjoyed chapter 6, 7, and 8. Those were really interesting to read….

I really have to agree Theresa. I DO NOT like this book at all. I really sometimes dont even understand what is going on at all. I feel like I am reading greek sometimes. But I also enjoyed chapters 6&7 because they were the only 2 chapters that I feel like I could really understand and follow. Those chapters I feel didnt jump around from perspectives as much as the other chapters have I guess is why I was able to understand them better. 

It is really hard to follow something that wont stay put which is what I feel the author will not do. But hopefully it gets better but I highly doubt it. See you in class:)

I agree with both of you. This book isn't that interesting. Mainly about family problems and consuming drugs. I still don't really Understand the main theme behind this Novel but hopefully it will come to me towards the end of the book.

I enjoyed both imago and generation x. Both had a futuristic setting and to me it was quite interesting. The way the authors in both books use aliens and different unknown locations really makes you think about what's going on in these short stories. Hopefully we can read more interesting stories than the slow and hard to recognize stories.

     Not much to talk about… Everyone is just studying for Midterms.  I loved how we worked in groups last week, and came up with exam questions.  It definitely helped me prepare for the Mid-Term Exam and I was able to meet new people in our class.  Not too worried about the Midterm exam anymore because all of my questions and concerns are cleared up, and I know what kind of questions are going to be asked. Being able to make the questions for the test gave me a reassurance that it would be somewhat easy. To me sitting in groups and discussing the books and novels we read gives me a better understanding of what we read. It helps me get a grasp on all the little things that I didn't catch on to the first time through. And all of the confusing parts were cleared up.

Ya this is what I had in one of my previous post. But like you said for the soldiers it's more of a coping mechanism to help them get through each day. The different things they took with them to Vietnam were all sentimental to each person. And I guess it worked for some and not so much for others. It just depends if you believe the objects you brought help you cope with your surroundings.
