Son of a Bat 4 (Batkid Headcanons)

Requested by Anonymous - thank you for reigniting my enthusiasm for this series!

You and Jason had a rocky start, to be perfectly honest.

Here you are, the Prodigy, Batman’s mission control, and (to him) the epitome of the snobby rich kid who’s always eaten out of a silver spoon.

And there he is, the kid who tried to steal the wheels of the Batmobile, and (to you) just one of the reasons Gotham is terrible.

You and Jason grudgingly worked together, but there was no way you were going to spend any more time than necessary together.

All that changed over time.

Jason realized that he had never seen you go to school, even when he went.

Alfred told him your story. How you had lost your mom, and how you had never really left the Manor, except for with him or your dad or Dick.

How you were lonely, and how sad you had been when Dick left for Bludhaven.

And Alfred also told you of Jason’s hard life. How his mother had left him. How he had been abused at an orphange Bruce shut down shortly after adopting him. 

And how stealing wheels was the only way he’d be able to eat.

You both slowly warmed to each other. Jason and you shared time in the library, where you recommended books to him, and Jason taught you what he knew about mechanics, whether you were interested or not.

Jason taught you how to disobey. He snuck you out of the Manor past your bedtime and took you to the arcade, to hot dog stands, and on one inadvisable trip - joyriding on a motorcycle.

You both fell off, (luckily Jason had stolen helmets) and you hurt your leg on the pavement, even though Jason had hugged you tightly and forced himself under you to break your fall.

Quietly you limped back home with his assistance and told him to go back to bed while you called for help.

For the first time in your life you lied to your father and Alfred, saying you had been trying to sneak out to see a meteor shower, and hurt your leg.

Of course they knew you were lying, but the fact that you were lying to cover for Jason instead of disliking him was the reason they let you both off free, although Bruce insisted you be more careful.

From then on your “sneaking out” was actually allowed by Bruce, who would keep an eye on you two.

And it seemed like Jason was on track to becoming your new favorite brother.

Until the fateful day Jason found himself in a certain warehouse with a certain clown…

• But for Damian it was harder. He had a lot of mistakes but slowly got use to it.

• And when your firstborn was around seven Dami came to you with a sly smile.
