I am very new to this so please cut me some slack. So this is about Lance, honestly I have no idea, and Carrie Underwood’s song Church Bells. It’s not a songfic but kinda a songfic. It takes place in like maybe the 60s or 70s. Not completely accurate but gay marriage is legal in the world.
Lance McClain was born in a poor family, despite his mother always saying they were rich in family and friends. It was just a fact he accepted throughout his life. He remembers going to a small church with his family they were very accepting of people. He remembers telling his mother and his entire family that he liked boys. They accepted him, they continued to love him and that was all Lance wanted. That was until Lotor Connard came into his life. He moved into the rich side of the neighborhood where you could see his extravagant mansion. He sold oil so there was no doubting his paycheck wasn’t big. Lance wanted to marry him, as he told his mother, he was rich, not to bad on the eyes, and just perfect.
Lance has never regretted anything more then that wish.
He saved up what little money he could and bought a outfit to wear to one of the town parties that he knew Lotor would show up. His friend since childhood, Hunk Amoureux, had warned him about rich men. Lance brushed it off telling him, “I have the looks, he has the mansion, you can figure out the rest.”. Long story short, he caught Lotor’s attention in that dime store dress. Lance was married to Lotor in about a year. Lance described it to his soon to be sister-in-law, Allura Beau, what the wedding would look like.
“The wedding will be perfect! We’ll have roses, maybe diamonds, some champagne.” Lance told her excitedly. Lotor came up behind lance and hugged him from behind causing lance to jump. “Can you not do that?!”
“Sorry sweetheart I just can’t wait for the party. Soon you’ll be all uptown and taking my last name.” Lotor said with a smirk. “I can already hear the church bells ringing can’t you sister?”
“And the choir singing up in the loft. It’ll be a beautiful wedding.” She smiled before leaving the room leaving the to together. Lance wishes he never felt so captivated with Lotor and just called the wedding off.
Almost six months later, life is just as extravagant as Lance dreamed it would be. He was going to country clubs and even attending junior league parties with Allura. Allura and him became very close over the months.
“You two are like Ken and Barbie. You’re just so perfect for each other.” Allura said during one of there lunches together. Lance looked away for second to his butler Coran who gave him a small smile.
“Yeah,” he said happily, “I guess we are like Ken and Barbie.” when did it become this easy to lie? Lotor came home late that Saturday night, he looked like was about to start a fight. Lance swore that all the money this man had could never prevented the devil that was living in his eyes. Coran helped put makeup on to cover the bruises and he wore dark sunglasses as he walked to the small church.
“Lance I didn’t expect to see you here please come in.” Shiro, the church’s pastor, said as he welcomed him in. “So what seems to be the problem?”
Same old Shiro, “May the Lord bless your bleeding heart Shiro” Lance said turning torwards Shiro taking his sunglasses off. “I tried to stop him I really did!” There was a big purple bruise on his left eye.
“Lance what happened?! Did Lotor do this to you?” Shiro said carefully walking over to Lance. Lance nodded shamefully as he began to cry. “Lance you need to tell the authorities about this! They can do something!” Shiro exclaimed as he hugged Lance.
“But I can’t Shiro, they won’t believe me! You can’t tell anyone! Please I’m begging you...” Lance said crying into Shiro’s chest. Shiro frowned but nodded.
“Let us go pray to the Lord to guide you through this.” Shiro says as leads Lance to the backroom. He swears he hears the church bells ringing as he prays with Shiro. The choir singing amazing grace. His mother used to say just fold your hands and close your eyes. As he leaves the church after praying he hears Shiro say “Everything is going to be alright Lance”
Another year goes by since that day, it’s gotten worse. The more Lotor drinks the more bruises appear. Lotor begins to cheat on Lance more and more. Lance goes to pray more and more. They begin fighting about it, Lotor starts accusing him of cheating on him with the pastor. They stop making love, it turns into sex, and the rape. So Lance starts cheating on him with the pastor. Shiro trys to get Lance to go to the authorities, but it doesn’t work. Shiro gives Lance something one day.
“Poison?” Lance asked holding the small vile in his hand. “You want me to murder my husband? Isn’t that a sin against God?”
“You won’t go to the authorities and he’s getting worse! He’s not even your husband he’s a demon.” Shiro yelled, Lance jumps fear flashes in his eyes. “Sorry I don’t mean to yell... I just... I love you Lance and I can’t stand to see you hurt...” Shiro confesses, he looks down at the floor until Lance walks over to him. He tilts Shiro’s head up to look at him.
“I’ll do it Shiro for us...” Lance says leaning in to kiss Shiro.
Lance tells Coran and Allura, they agree to help. Lances holds a dinner party for his husband and he invites twenty different people. He tells his husband he wants to fix their marrigae so he’s throwing a party with all their friends in his honor. He buys it and the night goes on everyone having fun drinking. Lance grabs the glass he bought his husband just for today. He also got the Tennessee whiskey his husband loves. He pours just a little but enough to kill him. He gives it to Lotor with a loving smile and clinks his glass against Lotor’s.
“To us?” Lance asks lovingly.
Lotor smiles sweetly “To us”
No law man ever found what was in that drink and Lotor drops dead not even ten minutes later. They hold a funeral at the small church, many people attend. Even sheriff, Keith Kogane, attends.
“So your saying you have no idea what happened to your husband but you think he died of alcohol poisoning?” The sheriff asked Lance.
“Yes he was drinking every night for the past two months. He came home late everyday drunk and just past out in our bed.” Lance said sadly “Then got up early before I could even say goodbye. But other then that he was loving and sweet. I hosted the party in hopes we could get closer like we used to be.”
“I see well sir I am very sorry about your husband. Good day” Keith walked off as Shiro came up to Lance. Lance had a frown on his face as he looked at the grave.
“Don’t worry Lance he hit you for the very last time.” Shiro said looking at Lance with a smile.
“Yeah you’re right Shiro... now let’s go I want to hear the church bells ring.” Lance said before taking one last look at the grave. “Goodbye Lotor...”
“So wait you’re telling me you just let him get away with murder? What the hell man!” Pidge yelled at Keith.
“Shut it Pidge! And yes I let him get away with it because of Shiro.” Keith said looking over to Pidge. “Plus Lance paid us to give a false report. Maybe they’ll bring the case back up in a few years? I don’t know! But Lotor wasn’t a good man he beat people, defiled the church, made a fool of the police department, and constantly cheated on his husband, abused his husband, and raped his husband.” Keith yelled as he got into the car. “People like him... don’t deserve justice.”
Pidge didn’t say any thing as she got into the car. “You’re right about him Keith. He got what he deserves.”
This isn’t the best but it’s something... anyway I hope you enjoyed the story.
