Oh, all he’d done was come to return some books! Halting in the doorway, elbow on the door, the lad looked to meet the source of the voice. Miss Marianne- she looked nervous, if not frightened by something. Immediately, worry rang true through his soul.

“Is that right, ma’am?” Cup piped up gently, shuffling a quartet of books in his arms. He knew for a fact one of them was overdue by three days’ time, and counted out the fee to pay it off prior to setting foot out the door. “Course, I can keep secrets– But is somethin’ the matter..?”

 Mugman had followed in hopes to get some new books for himself – but he supposed, anywhere he followed his brother, trouble would inevitably come for them. At least they were always able to face it together.

 “Oh gosh.. what’s gone ‘n happened now, miss?” Shuffling his feet in his nervousness, he could only guess as to what’d happened now. He could only hope it wasn’t something that would get them into a mess again… 

 but, of course it would be.

The librarian did trust the cup boys, and was rather fond of them, so she went under the desk and pulled out a musty old grimoire that seemed to be of the Devil's making. She brought the two little cups close and brought her voice down to a low whisper.

It was time to tell them everything.

"W-well... this's been something that's been bothering me for a while now. This book, r-right here? This u-used to be the prison of someone just as bad as the Devil... Mayhem, the Boogieman...

I got this book from a stranger, I-I didn't think anything of it when 'e said that there was more to this book th-than met my eye. I-I only looked in sheer curiosity... and then he appeared.

Mayhem... he tricked me when I freed him from the pages. H-he promised me c-confidence... th-the ability to speak my mind... for my shadow. I didn't think it a steep price a-at the time... but I was a darn fool. Shadows are his power... he uses them to find out what people're afraid of, n' since I'm most afraid o' bein' used... he turns me into a thief at night. D-don't know if you heard the rumors of banks goin' clean in the middle o' the night? Th-that's Nocturnia... his means o' turning me against myself."

The Librarian moved her arms to hug herself slightly.

"Ohh, I'm so ashamed! I never could get the courage to tell anyone 'bout this. I'd think they'd think me crazy! I-I sure hope you two don't, either..."

Marianne had been... troubled, recently, to say the least. Things were a little too quiet in the Library as of late, as she could usually hear a certain someone else in the back... but it's been dead silent the past few days. Fearing for the worst, she almost lept from her chair when she saw the two cups come in. However, he had heard through the grapevine that those very two cups saved everyone from their Soul Contracts from the Devil himself... so she may be in luck yet.

"O-oh, boys! I-I've actually been meaning to talk with you both. ...can you two keep a secret?"

Salutations, madam! If I may ask, who do you find most often in your library?

“W-well, aside from myself, of course, I see both those little cup boys out and about here. They’re both swell boys, and such avid readers! I really do hope t'see them more often."

Concept: Marianne asking the Cup Boys to help her with her "debt" to Mayhem after hearing how they dusted up the Devil.

Something I did in my art class; it was a project based on "The Very Hungry Caterpillar"; cutting out different pieces of painted paper to make the final piece. I based this project off of an RP I did with @cala-marix​!

Medium: Acrylic Paint, Bristol Board, paper, and a little bit of Micron Pen and colored Pencil.

The woman squeaked in surprise, dropping her book and turning on her heel. When she found out it was only Cala, she sighed and held her hand to her heart, blushing slightly.

“G-Goodness, Cala… don’t scare me like that..! B-But I’ve been doing quite fairly. I would hope that it also applies to you?”

『🌊』The mermaid chuckled, it wasn’t her intention to scare her like that making her drop her book.

B-but that's good to hear. I-I've recently got some new books in the Library; I haven't the time to sort them, but w-would you mind helping me with that?"
