and i have to ask, where is your whimsy? like, man. secret relationship is a trope as old as time. hello, romeo and juliet!!!!

literally so many convincing reasons why, both in fiction and in real life, two people might not want to publicly be together or invite prying eyes/opinions into their burgeoning relationship. there are more reasons a couple might keep things on the down low than bigotry my friends. get more romance-pilled!!!!

obsessed with the idea of a journalist following ilya around for a puff piece which ilya finds very annoying and the journalist remarks on the 'strange snake-like squiggle' tattoo he has on his wrist and he later realises like. oh. it's the letter S. he has the letter S tattooed on the inside of his wrist. surely that is for rozanov's long time close friend and frequent flyer on his instagram svetlana vetrova...... and ilya laughs at him when he asks about it but confirms yes it is for someone he cares about very much. but won't answer any follow up questions so the journo largely files it away as kinda boring and it mostly goes unremarked upon in the final piece.

anyway like two years later everything comes out and this journo guy is like!!!!! S!!!!!!! FOR SHANE!!!!! HE HAD SHANE HOLLANDER'S INITIAL TATTOOED ON HIS WRIST!!!! TWO YEARS AGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m very permissive re fanfiction these days but I do scratch my head when people post stuff that is basically just like. Exactly what happened in canon. Down to the same setting, same timeline, same scenes, and same dialogue. It’s perplexing to me.

i actually can't get over how good the club scene is. we follow ilya into the club and see what he sees as he enters and then the walking up closeup shot of rose only to find out shane's at the club too. ilya getting a drink and recognizing miles and then turning around to try and find shane to see rose's hands up his shirt while they dance. Then shane sees marleau and connors and he tries to find ilya. the pin drop as he sees him making out with someone. shane making an excuse to go to the bathroom and making eye contact with ilya. shane looking terrified to have sex with rose but he assumes ilya left with the girl from the club too. ilya in the shower jerking off because he couldn't leave with someone else. the slow mo of them staring at each other in the club. the direct eye contact to signify they're thinking of each other. the song continuing while the credits roll
