If you’re not a trans woman you need to get way more comfortable with trans women talking about issues that don’t affect you. If you’re not a trans man you need to be ok with trans men talking about their own experiences that don’t affect you. If you’re not non binary you need to stop being weird about nonbinary people talking about the poor treatment they get for being nonbinary. If you’re not intersex you need to stop inserting yourself into conversations that aren’t about you and begging to be centered. Everyone get less self centered NOW!!!!

Someone tagged this as "unless its about transitioning" and no actually that is 100% not an exception. Gender and sexuality related obsessions are not uncommon, so if someone is spiraling from that kind of advice about transitioning, then its not for them and should be ignored.

people say these kinds of things because they assume gender/sexuality OCD is just being repressed about something you actually want.

but when you actually listen to people whose OCD is about transitioning, they don't express anything that would be helped by transitioning, they talk about the deep fear that the body and gender they are happy in will be ripped away from them and they'll consequently lose their spouse, job, dog, car, and very identity.

Which is just. Not how any trans person feels about transitioning lmao

but it is how I felt about detransitioning when that was the topic du jour for my OCD to torment me with. My observation is that this is kind of common in trans people and I think it's a bad thing that we don't talk about that.

Also you do not need to have an OCD diagnosis for this advice to be applicable. If you're tormented by fixations on unknowns about your own thoughts and feelings and actions, this advice might be good for you.

Always remember that OCD attacks the things you care about by making you afraid you'll lose them and it will be your fault. Being obsessed with accidentally hurting someone you love doesn't mean you secretly want to hurt someone you love, it means you're terrified something bad will happen to someone you love because of you. Being obsessed with my food poisoning me isn't because I secretly want to poison myself, being afraid of holding a baby because I'm worried I'll drop it doesn't mean I secretly love dunking infants like a basketball, and being obsessed with maybe being trans doesn't mean you're secretly trans because a hallmark of OCD being worried about being something you're not.

He didn’t betray you. He betrayed the trust of the women he employed. I’ve never seen such a case of former fans making an abuse narrative about them, when there are women who were materially, physically harmed by him.

The horror of this story is not that you had liked Sandman. It’s in the abuse he perpetrated against multiple young homeless women and against his son. So many people have lost the plot with Neil Gaiman, it’s baffling.

Zuko’s like no, yeah, I totally get it, and just makes her one of his advisors. At first it’s just so she has a good excuse to stay but after the first meeting Toph storms out shouting about how EVERYONE was lying why would you even need to lie about what kind of tea you want??
