Yk how animals are somehow able to sense illnesses, death, blah blah.
I profess Dispatch but Robert has a deadly illness/obtains a deadly illness.
Robert as a child is diagnosed with a deadly illness that cannot be cured (bonus points If Grandbob/Daddybob/Grandbob & Daddybob had illness before).
He gets the mindset that it doesn't matter how dangerous the situation he's facing is, he's already gonna die so he might as well handle it for "healthier" people.
One day he's sitting in ally patching himself up as a dog starts walking up to him and curling into his lap, he tries to bring it to a shelter or sm but the dog somehow breaks up and finds him.
Cue poly-cule Z team (because I can't live without it) slowly falling for him, and he's scared to tell them.
Reveal scene where he either reveals he's Mecha man and his illness or doesn't reveal he's Mecha man and instead reveals his illness.
He's back as Mecha man (or he's still just a dispatcher who's going on side-quest that he shouldn't be on) and he's fighting this villain, them BOOM, toxic air-borne chemicals seep into his Mech (inhales or touches the chemicals somehow as dispatcher)
He gets checked out and it turns out the chemicals were some super dangerously experimental virus(or sm).
And since it was only experimentally there is no cure for it/no known cure.
Cue Beef suddenly being super affectionate towards Robert and the Z-Team brushing it off or commenting on how cute Beef is.
(Robert tells team about illness if he's Mecha man to them, but doesn't if he's just Robert)
also just realized while typing all this. IS THAT WHY BEEF WAS ALWAYS WITH CHASE. DID THE DISPATCH WRITERS DEADASS DO THIS BECAUSE OF THIS. OR AM I JUST EMBRACEING THE MATPAT WITHIN.
