When I decided to teach myself Python, my choice was between that or C.

Unfortunate hardware failure and inadequate backups mean I lost some of my learning projects.

Now that I've decided to pick up C again in order to reimplement the interesting bits I wanted to keep, it has shown me that I made the right call initially, but for weirdly cultural reasons.

I enjoy good reference documentation as much as the next person, but sometimes, a good tutorial explaining concepts is helpful, too.

With Python, you can expect the tutorials to be too simple and to need to look at the API for details.

In C, it appears that even simple tutorials insist on doing things in random mathy ways for fun.

I'm not exactly mad about it, but it does make me wonder if the "old-school" style turns people off from learning it as much as the "limitations" of not being object-oriented.

Now excuse me while I go and dereference this pointer.

It is absolutely IMPERATIVE that you all find friends who have chickens that they're nice to. I've worked at farms before (linux user actually goes outside??? Whaaa???) and just assumed all chickens are just kinda mean but NO! That means they just haven't had people be nice to them. My friend is cool and has chickens and is nice to them and they're the friendliest little guys ever. They come sit on your laps like weird dusty little cats (big huge fan of how they just Descend instead of sitting down normally) and it's the most adorable thing I have ever seen GET FRIENDS WITH HAPPY CHICKENS NOW

I need to add more songs to my Totally Not Pirated Music (TM) folder. I still have a playlist of 625 ish songs and 2 bands I want to have saved. I also really need to find an MP3 player and a pair of earbuds that are decent for said silly folder

I have a Surely Not Pirated Music™ folder(s) and I can tell you that old phones are actually a great place to put them - a lot of the cheap mp3 players on amazon don't do a great job (my first one of them died after like 2 days) and particularly android ones (I don't really care for itunes and there's many shenanigans you can do on android that take several hours longer on ios)

There's a bit of a problem you run into if you swear constantly at everything like I do - they start to lose their effect and you wind up having to get creative. You wind up saying shit like "if the stars align and the universe has mercy on my plight I'm going to play this game" instead of "if my computer stops being a little bitch and everyone shuts the hell up I'm going to play this game", the former of which is a decidedly Not Normal thing to say

for the love of god go to your steam settings -> game recording and disable h.265 encoding

for some reason h265 doesnt use hardware encoding, so it is pinning your shit HARD encoding your gameplay in the background; my cpu use dropped from 60-80% on all physical cores to like 30%

this is also a problem on windows but im only telling this to the linuxmaxxers because i dont want to provide service to the high cortisol low aura microslop populus

(also for everything that is holy run steam with the -cef-disable-gpu-compositing flag, it will fix your steam overlay)
