Explaining my Grace-Chasity-from-NPMD-has-OCPD-headcanon!!!! (Note that my only references for her character are the songs and tumblr posts sorry ^^")
LWK kinda nervous to post this because I'm terrified of mischaracterizing Grace, but bear with me! And if I get something wrong, please try to show me a little...grace...hahaha get it
This is the diagnostic criteria for OCPD in the DSM-5:
A persistent pattern of preoccupation with order; perfectionism; and control of self, others, and situations
This pattern is shown by the presence of > 4 of the following:
Preoccupations with details, rules, schedules, organization, and lists
She's not so much into schedules, organization, and lists (from what I've seen), but she's definitely very particular about details and rules, specifically those regarding religion and how people should act around each other. It seems to me like she sort of imposes her beliefs on others? It's not, like, super bad, but she certainly does it some. Anyway! She is certainly preoccupied with rules and details regarding Christianity.
A striving to do something perfectly that interferes with the completion of a task
Grace definitely strives to do things "perfectly." Perfect in the eyes of Christianity and God and religion. And I can definitely see it getting in the way, even of little things, like a school trying to have its dance in peace or something. I don't know but this fits her because yeah.
Excessive devotion to work and productivity (not due to financial necessity), resulting in neglect of leisure activities and friends
If we don't look at work in the conventional sense, but instead look at, like, spiritual work and missionary work, then we can definitely see this in Grace! I think if we look at this through the lense of religion it's pretty self explanatory.
Excessive conscientiousness, fastidiousness, and inflexibility regarding ethical and moral issues and values
This is like. A huge chunk of her personality. Like, her obsession with Christianity and Saving everyone and making everything just. Perfect. By her standards, her moral standards. Because, right, with Christians, a lot of things are a question of morality. It's a question of helping people, loving people, and Doing What's Right. This description basically sums up most of the things Grace does.
Reluctance to delegate or work with other people unless those people agree to do things exactly as the patient wants
I feel like we can kind of see this in Bully the Bully and Bury the Bully? Grace is like, very insistent that they do things a certain way. And, like, it works, but she's like. Kinda pushy. Which, again, understandable, but it still fits this description IMO.
Rigidity and stubbornness
Coughs in the general direction of her. Everything.
Okok sorry if I got anything wrong uhm. Yes grins. Thank you for reading LMK if you have any questions (I'm more likely to remember it exists if you send an ask)
