Ben Reilly is my pet spider and I was wildly sad to discover there was almost no fandom for this show so... here I am :]

I'm new to writing fanfiction and creating fan content on my own please bear with me!

My genuine only critique of this show is that it's so dedicated to having this vintage vibe, from the smokey New York to the filming to the costuming and even the casting, and then phones it in with the music?

Especially Cat Hardy's first number gets me. The modern beat kicking in is so jarring, when it could have been a great 'why don't you do me right' introduction to her. Why not just make her do a regular cover of the song?

Maybe I'm just biased because I actually enjoy that sort of music, and it was meant to be appealing to a wider audience... but that in itself is disappointing to me.

One thing I love about the new show is bens character as a whole, but especially how he acts, he had to learn how to be human again from movies, and it shows, he acts less like everyone around him but more like someone playing the character of a sleezy detective, sure he quite literally is that, but it's almost cartoonishly obvious just by the way he talks, he can probably reference movies with ease, he's clearly mesmerized things from said movies, he also plays characters and is able to put on another persona on quickly, he's been a plumber, A soidler, A patient.

i am convinced he just got really hyperfixated on film during that year of trying to act more human. C'mon man. Love this guy

TIL that spiders apparently don't really go to sleep, more like just become motionless to save energy (but then again I saw some shit contradicting it and some agreeing so i may be just spewing bullshit here)

But now I imagine Ben, really fucking tired from investigating and crime fighting and overall existing, just one day becomes motionless. He was talking (more like trying not to fall asleep) with Janet or Robbie and then suddenly just stops moving, nothing, won't even blink.

Like his Spider side just decided that enough is enough and that he needs to conserve energy lest he like dies from exhaustion or something

Janet and/or Robbie are freaking out because he just stopped, outta nowhere, they're not even sure if he is breathing

Their first thought is to get him to the hospital but they know how much Ben dislikes those (something something trauma from all the experiments on him something something) so they just get him home. Do I know how? No. Do I care? Also no

And only in the safe space of his bed does Ben actually move. And by "move" i mean he falls asleep almost immediately in that weird position of his

He sleeps for a whole day or two, Robbie and Janet checking up on him numerous times

Ben saying he “still has the arachnid genes” and had to watch movies to relearn how to act human perfectly explains other scenes…when he was a “plumber” and broke into the couple’s home to get his suit back? When he acted like a freak patient in the doctor’s office? Yeah he was literally acting like the people in the movies lol

The “what a dump” moment is literally lifted from a popular movie of the era. He’s not witty, he’s spitting out what he best thinks fits the situation based on what he’s watched onscreen.

Spider-Noir detail I haven't seen mentioned: The fact that Ben is canonically copying movies would mean that in-universe, everyone just thinks he's one of those guys who won't stop making pop culture references all day. When he walked into Silvermane's fancy, spotless home and went "What a dump!" Silvermane wasn't thinking "Wow, what boldly sarcastic wit," he was thinking "Oh, yeah, I saw Beyond the Forest, too. That was alright."

So far the series is amazing, it keeps feeling more and more like a history drama like the classic movies. Really like this new look on a older spiderman too!
