@noitsforthebetter
regulus black is not amy march i will explode u into a thousand pieces in this essay i will—
okay. yes regulus and amy are both the annoying little siblings who look up to their older sibling with envy in their heart. but that is where the similarities stop!
amy march, is never ashamed of what she wants. is vain (perfect feet, perfect nose, perfect hair, focused on fashion, and social standing). dramatic outwardly (frequent outbursts, manuscript burning, tantrums), and wants a better life than her family provided (i.e. wants to marry rich to live comfortably forever).
she is considered the shining jewel of the family. the one to save them from destitution. as she grows up and matures, she also becomes the most socially aware of her place in society as a woman and how to use that to advance her social standing (marry fred vaughn). her family does everything in their power to put her in that position (aunt march taking her aside to give her propriety lessons, her ring, a trip to paris) HOWEVER, she also defies her family's expectations in favor of true love which is shocking to all (it literally KILLS aunt march (i jest, but yk. still.)). (is this giving sirius yet??? perfect beautiful heir meant to keep the family bloodline going, being groomed for it, but also being dramatic and annoying and mischievous (like amy drawing those mean portraits of her teacher isn't something sirius would do). and also a little vain but ultimately he matures and goes against familial expectations)
furthermore! regulus at the very least is secretive about what he really wants (double agent in the war trying to defeat voldemort from the inside without telling anyone hello). and either you subscribe to the belief that
1. he had a terrible family he didn't agree with but was too ashamed to admit his personal thoughts/feelings/emotions
or
2. he was going to stick with his family no matter the cost because the Black family was the most important thing in his life
(is this reading more jo now? fuck, or even beth ,,, if beth wasn't a symbol for childhood innocence and purity but was instead a more evil second thing). he watches sirius get the adoration, the friends, the freedom, and EVEN (if your a jegulusser like me) his man. (once again proving. regulus is NOT amy march. a better case would be made for amy's narrative foil...jo. IN MY OPINION).
amy is so external and regulus internalizes EVERYTHING! think of amy, outgoing amy, introducing herself to everyone, letting everyone know exactly who she is and what she wants (fred at the beach "im amy march...remember that name because im gonna come find you one day".) regulus would rather die. he is quite literally taking who he REALLY is and what he really wants to the grave lol.
gansey is james
ronan is sirius
adam is remus
noah is peter
I find the way each of the gangsey members view Henrietta quite interesting because:
Adam called it a place made for leaving. He is actively working to get as far away from there and the life he has there as possible.
Gansey is completely charmed by it because it’s the opposite of where he came from and he’s convinced that the answers to everything he’s been searching for will be waiting for him there.
Ronan is there because it’s as close as he is able to get to family and “home”.
Blue is somewhere between all of that. Henrietta is where she grew up and where all her family is but if I remember correctly she also wanted to go out and travel the world.
And my dear sweet Noah. Noah who is quite literally stuck there. He didn’t get a choice. Even in death he was tied to that place for years.
neil in tfc:
0 days without thinking of adam parrish, army of one.
Willing and Able by Noah Kahan and it’s about Ronan and Declan Lynch
Andrew Perrault you’ve just been upgraded to my list of fucked up characters that consume my mind!! congratulations!!
Season 1 Ending: Trinity Santos invites her homeless coworker who she just met to live rent free in her apartment.
Season 2 Ending: Trinity Santos invites her lonely coworker to get drinks and sing karaoke so she won’t be alone on July 4th
And the fandom rabidly hates her and thinks she’s the worst most evil person to ever exist.
pov: you just visited the pitt
adopt that baby Robby and you will be reincarnated as a lotus flower
please guys we all need to invest more in adamnoah fucking behind everyone's back please trust me i see the vision of the future and the stocks are stocking please please ple-
I’ve read several fics now where the characters are tumblr mutuals that end up falling in love only to meet in real life or realize they already knew each other irl so this is me taking auditions for my own version of this
hmu if you want to be strangers to flirty tumblr mutuals to crazy situationship
trinity santos is a study in fandom misogyny because they gave her all the characteristics fandoms usually salivate for in men, being gruff, quippy and misunderstood with a tragic backstory but a heart of gold beneath it all. they put all this into her AND let her be a lesbian. she's everything you could ever want in a character but she's not a man so half the fandom either hates her or constantly mischaracterizes her as petty, callous and aggressive while doing mental gymnastics to baby the male characters around her
oh dr. trinity santos who was taken advantage of by a man at a young age, lived through her best friend killing herself, self harmed, was publicly berated by a superior on her first day
AND STILL invited a man to stay in her home after knowing him one day after finding him unhoused, tried to connect with and comfort her coworker by talking about her sister, sang an abandoned baby back to sleep, gave the credit for saving a patient’s life to someone else, was flexible and creative during a mass casualty event, and so much more
your kindness and resilience knows no bounds
traveling alone with a duffel bag I can feel the spirit of Neil Josten guiding me
Just got to the scene in my Raven Boys re-read where incorporeal Noah is writing “murdered” on his car over and over. Then Ronan silently walks over and writes “remembered.”
Not Gansey who loves Noah so much he made him a central pillar of his life.
Not Adam who deeply understands the fear of being forgotten.
Not Blue who has only known Noah for a hot second but is already completely devoted to him.
But Ronan. Who knows grief so thoroughly. Who pays attention and remembers. Who loves Noah but just doesn’t show it in typical ways. Who live never let the memory of his friend go.
