A concept: Damen and Laurent like 30 years down the road. Wrinkles, gray hair, and Damen’s belly having grown progressively softer over the years. Laurent spends mornings touching it and telling Damen how handsome he’s become. And Damen telling Laurent how he’s just gotten more beautiful by the day. It’s very sappy. And then, when they both get out of bed and stg every joint in their bodies sounds like it popped: they burst out in to laughter like they are 20 years old again.
When Damen started seeing himself grow older, he honestly started getting a little self-conscious around Laurent. Laurent is fucking gorgeous no matter what, but he started wondering if he’d still be seen as sexy w his salt & pepper hair and softer muscles (he knows Laurent loves his muscles). The day Laurent found out about these worries, he called Damen an idiot, made love, and reminded him of their vows and why they took them.
Damen may have cried, no one knows (Laurent knows).
Damen has gotten some moles and freckles over the years of being in the sun, and Laurent loves kissing each one, especially the one on Damen’s rib he loves tickling. Laurent got some discoloration on his shoulders that Damen loves, too.
Laurent becomes a Maggie Smith type; done with pleasantries and using his years of experience to serve delicious tea under the coolest shade. Damen becomes more of a father-type figure to new recruits, and reminds others of Makedon with the fighting spirit he still carries with him.
One morning they wake, and gaze into each others’ eyes. Damen stretches to kiss Laurent only to hear several pops with every move he makes. Laurent tried to hold it in, but his laughter bubbled up until he had to force himself to breathe. After finally calming down, he sat up, only to hear several pops himself accompanied by Damen’s boisterous laughter filling in. It took a while for him to calm himself, both leaning in for a kiss once he did.
“I never thought I’d say this,” Damen started, voice soft and gruff. “But I’m glad Kastor betrayed me.”
Laurent raised a brow at this. “Do I want to know why?”
“Because if that’s the price for finding this level of happiness, then I hope he does it again in the next life. I love you more than life itself, Laurent, and I’m blessed you shared all these years with me. Even if my body is now louder than my words.”
There was a pause as Laurent blinked away the shine from his eyes. “Well.” He said, “Your body has been a great service to me for a long time, its about time it had a chance to complain.”
Chuckles rose again as the sun shone into the room.
