December 2021 was the month that the Wizarding World was once again plunged into c h a o s; and all because reports surfaced of a new dark force calling themselves Non Compos Mentis. Everything at first was just murmurs, whispers of the group and what they planned on doing. And then came the first attack on January 1st 2022. The dark group, now widely known as how they wanted to be, had taken mass control over a pack of werewolves using the Imperius curse and attacked a group of 10 Aurors, killing them all. Over the course of the year, more and more reports came in of Non Compos Mentis using the Imperius curse for the purpose of massacres, and terror set in over everyone.
non compos mentis is latin for not of sound mind CLOSED
hey tri, you're great! and this roleplay was brilliant (britt and lia, you were awesome as welllll!!). so don't ever blame yourselves for this getting slow. i just want to ask (you don't have to or anything), but are you ever panning on, sometimes in the future, when you have the time and all, to open this up again and start fresh? just curious, bc this was the best rp i've ever seen. again, not your fault it died out.
Hi there, nonnie! You're lucky I'm a nostalgic piece of shit who actually logs back onto this page every so often, because now I get to answer you, you cutie! First; thank you so much for ever even taking an interest in us. To go as far as to say it's the best RP you've been in practically has me in tears, and I'm so glad that this RP managed to reach it's goal while it lasted - to meet some awesome people, and to make them happy. Second, long story short, I don't think I will reopen. I absolutely loved being an admin while I could, but with the RP community rapidly growing more advanced and my time and skills constantly dropping to an almost nil, I just don't know how I could manage it. Quite possibly in the far off future I could find the time for anything like this, but I'm going to be honest with you - the first time I see my schedule clearing up for this sort of responsibility is next year. I know, I have a ridiculous schedule... I'm so sorry for that, but my offer still stands - if anyone else would like to take this RP from me, I welcome you with open arms. You can either contact me here or at my writing blog ( triwrites ). Once again, I love you all, and stay awesome. - Tri xo ( a mobile-ridden blogger... )
Hi everybody. It’s Admin Tri here, and I think it’s time I finally say something that has been blatantly obvious for some time now.
Non Compos Mentis is inactive, and will subsequently be closed. There hasn’t been a post on the main in exactly one month, and as much as I love that our members tried their hardest to keep this RP going by continuing to interacting, there now hasn’t been an interaction on the dash for weeks. I’ve been putting off making this post for so long now, and I don’t really know why, but it’s unfair to have this main hanging here, and it teases me every time I see it.
I’m extremely disappointed in myself that I couldn’t be the admin that this RP deserved. Unfortunately I’ve just been going through a tough time recently, and as much as I’d like to pretend that I am 100% fine now, I know that I’d be lying to myself. To try and continue this wouldn’t be fair on me, and it wouldn’t be fair to any current or potential members, and that’s why I’ve decided to close.
I would first like to say a massive thank you to Britt and Lia. You two have been some of my closest RP friends, and your help in keeping this RP up when I was struggling deserves my eternal gratitude. You are both exceptional players, and even better people, and I love you both so much, so thank you.
I would also like to say a big thank you to all the players here at NCM that stayed until the struggling end. You guys were what made this such an incredible experience for me, and I had so much fun getting to know and RP with you for the short amount of time that we did.
Now for the nitty-gritty’s; I know that with the proper hands, this RP could thrive, and for that reason I am putting my work up there for someone to take from me and breathe some life into NCM. This could be a member, an admin, or even someone that was just stalking this RP but never joined. This ask box will remain open for you guys to message me if you would like to take it from me, and the page will remain the same for ONE WEEK before I put up a hiatus page with the same message.
Once again; thank you, thank you, thank you for all everyone has done for NCM, and I’m sorry that it’s come to this. I love you all, and I’ll miss you.
Have a last Allison gif for your troubles xoxo - Admin Tri
Hiya everyone! I think it’s fair to say that I’ve been a bit of a trashy admin the past week or so, unfortunately I’ve just been incredibly busy, and I’m going through a bit of a hard time. You may’ve also noticed a bit of a lack of activity on my Albus blog, so sorry, my loves. However, I’m here now to answer any and all of your questions, and give a gentle reminder that acceptances are in less then 8 hours!! I’m also going to talk to my fellow admins about things that might boost the speed of the dash, because I did see that last ask, and if it’s affecting the members’ fun, then we want to fix it.
Well nonnie, everyone does have lives outside of the RP. I do admit that the dash can be a bit slow at times but I’d also like to blame timezones for being weird. Not to mention we’re a small group. But maybe some new members could get the dash flowing more smoothly?? The more the merrier, right?
The clock stroke midnight and Minerva couldn’t be happier. The night had been fairly uneventful for Hogwarts standards, but that didn’t mean she hadn’t had to hand out a number of detentions and take away hundreds of house points due to consumption and distribution of alcohol. She’d been sure to distribute the detentions evenly, and made sure it would happen certainly on this Saturday and Sunday; extra punishment to have to do it whilst hungover. As soon as was possible, she announced the end of the party and directed the Professor’s and prefects to hurry the students back to their dormitory’s.
She only hoped the weekend would be long enough for students to sober up.
Note from the admins: And that’s a wrap, folks! We hope all members had an enjoyable time during this event, even if it was a bit slow towards the end. Generally for the rest of the events, they will come with a prompt or a plot drop, but for now, this was just a getting-to-know-your-characters extra event, as well as a sort of opener.
As we understand some of you had plots/threads still going, we will allow you an extra 48 hours to wrap these up, but after that we ask that all event threads be dropped. Since the event is now over, however, you are more than welcome to pick back up those threads you had going before, as I know for myself some of them were rather enjoyable!
As a few characters were obviously part of this consumption and distribution of alcohol scandal, we invite any of those characters to post detention-related starters from now on. We ask that only the characters listed below take part in these, as well as any prefects that may be looking after them. We thus ask that it is obvious the starter is taking place in detention. The characters who have been given detention are as follows:
Congratulations Cece, you’ve been accepted for the role of Emily Wood! age: 20

anything else? removed!
IN CHARACTER
desired character: Emily Gwendolyn Wood
birthday: April 12th — Aries: impatient and impassioned with a charming, excitable personality and a sense of humor. Fire sign. Loving and loyal, energetic and spontaneous, but driven and ambitious.
sexuality: Heterosexual
identifies as: Female - she/her/hers
pet: Fish — Guppy, a Beta.
electives: Charms, Potions, Ancient Runes, Transfiguration, and Defense Against the Dark Arts. She also holds flying sessions for first years in order to help them learn and practice.
boggart: A screaming burst of flames. It’s the reoccurring dream Emily’s had since her mother’s death at the hand of the NCM. Although she knows that’s not exactly how magic works, in her mind her mother is being shot at by flaming wands over and over. Even worse than knowing her mother’s dead is the thought of how she might have suffered before passing. The last summer Emily was home, an enormous spider had decided to make their pantry it’s home. When Isadora Wood wandered in, the spider’s web had claimed an entire corner of the room — It was then that Isadora, known auror and respected witch, let out an ear-piercing scream that shook the house…then blasted the spider with all her might. It was hilariously laughable at the time; Emily and her father had made fun of Izzy endlessly, but now Emily hears that scream every night…It isn’t funny, anymore. (The boggart used to be a clown [an image she’d caught sight of once as a child when out and about in muggle London and immediately detested] but nothing stays the same after losing a parent.) To disrupt this image, she turns it into fake paper flames that ripple in the air. All an illusion, just as the memory of her mother’s death.
patronus: Octopus; “Those with an octopus patronus have many branches to them, as an octopus has eight legs. They tend to be virtuosos, having expertise in a little bit of every aspect of their lives. This means they can be social while enjoying time to themselves as well, and be creative and logical equally. They are those who often have an evenly matched right and left brain, and also tend to have very tight typologies. They have a beautiful uniqueness to them in the aspect that they can do whatever they please and are perfectly comfortable with it, and rarely have trouble getting far in life.“
wand: Very flexible, 10’’, Applewood with a Phoenix Tail Feather core.
extracurricular: Prefect. Hufflepuff Chaser. Arts Club. There’s a part of her interested in duelling club…but she’s not yet confident enough in her skills.
how does your character feel about Non Compos Mentis? “Non Compos Mentis” are words that couldn’t even be spoken around Emily without her falling apart. The entire summer was spent in counseling with her father, working every day to try and put themselves and their little family back together. Now, with her fifth year fast approaching, she’s on fire with hate. She’s ready to scream and the next person to speak anything but absolute disgust for the group might just get hexed right then and there. She’s finally coming back into herself, her bubbly and cheery personality resurfacing just as her friends expected it would in time. The haunting dreams continue, but she’s finding it less difficult to fight the darkness and keep the pain concealed in somewhere in the pit of her stomach rather than allowing it to take over her mind. She knows that when the time comes, she’d rip the NCM to pieces with her bare hands if she got the chance.
connections:
Jason Wood: Jason is Emily’s favorite person in the world; she’s looked up to him for her entire life. Memories of learning to fly with her father and brother at her side are some of the fondest she has…Now that it’s just the three of them, Emily feels closer to them than ever. Although Jason really is as blunt as a beater, Emily knows he’s a good soul. She’s not sure if his becoming a professional Quidditch player will benefit or hinder her — either her father will be so elated with his professional son, he won’t mind his daughter not following in the same path. OR, the high he rides knowing his son’s advancement in the quidditch world will only prove to make him thirstier for his daughter’s success…whether that’s what she wants or not. At least, no matter what, Emily knows she’ll have Jason’s support.
Lily Potter, Sinead MacmIllan: Emily had always made friends easily wherever she went in life, mostly because she’d always been outgoing and talkative, she either charmed people or wore them down. It was at Quidditch Tryouts that she met Lily Potter and immediately reached out to her; Lily had a sweet disposition and a palpable warmth about her, this the two instantly clicked. It wasn’t long before Lily introduced Emily to her other close friend, Sinead, and Emily adored her on the spot. They’re a lively three, known throughout the school as rarely being without each other. The way they supported Emily in the aftermath of losing her mother is something Emily will never forget; She can’t imagine life without them. Even though she considers herself casually friends with many of her peers, Lily and Sinead are her best friends and she’d do anything for them.
Roxanne Weasley: Since Roxanne is the Quidditch star chaser of Gryffindor and Emily fancies herself to be a top-tier player, it’s only natural that the two would develop competitive attitudes towards each other, on and off the field. It’s all friendly, but the two constantly butt heads, shouting retorts across the Great Hall, exchanging comments in between classes. When Gryffindor plays Hufflepuff, it always feels like there’s more to the game than with any of the other houses. Emily respects the hell out of Roxanne, that’s what makes their feud so much fun.
Isabelle Corner: Isabelle is nearly the polar opposite of Emily - cold, calculating, and dismissive. The two met on the train in their first year and it was the most fun Emily had had in a long time. The girls spent the whole ride talking and joking and Emily felt a sort of admiration for Isabelle and the way she carried herself, even at eleven. She had a commanding presence, and for a while Emily was just glad to feel accepted by her into her close circle. That was for the first year, at least. It was halfway through her second year that she started picking up on subtle things Isabelle would do and say, like flippantly snap at Emily or casually say something rude about someone. Her other friends weren’t very fond of Isabelle’s company, and soon, Emily grew uncomfortable with her as well. At first, she simply began hanging out with her less and less, and the other girl didn’t seek out Emily, either. Until, one day, she confronted the Hufflepuff and she had to tell Isabelle the truth. “You’re kind of a dick…” Emily whispered to the blonde, as people passed in the hallway. Emily was not a confrontational person and it hurt her to lose any friends, but she was always honest. She felt bad, but Isabelle was not company she wanted to keep, anymore. Isabelle was furious at being called out. Now she and Isabelle regularly ignore each other’s existence. After losing her mother of a similar name, Isadora, it’s hard for Emily to even look at Isabelle, anymore.
bio:
Emily Wood was born in the spring of 2006. She was the apple of her mother eye, Isadora Annabel Wood, a woman who was as fierce and strong as they come, who’d always yearned desperately for a daughter. Oliver Wood, a professional Quidditch player for Puddlemere United with ambition to spare, fell in love with his children and poured all his hopes and dreams for their futures into them. “She looks like she chaser,” he whispered looking down at the newborn in her mother’s arms, as a tear silently dripped down his cheek. Jason Wood, two at the time, held his fathers hand and jumped up and down to try and get a peek at his little sister. “Quiet, Oliver. I don’t want to think about this angel ever even picking up a broom.”
“Don’t say that, darling…” Oliver responded, voice quietly shaking. Izzy smiled up at her husband as the newest member of the family slept peacefully.
There was such a constant atmosphere of love wherever the family went, it was a charmed childhood. They never reached wealth, but they were happy and content. Isadora chased her dream job as an auror, Oliver lived the dream every time he went on the field to play, and Oliver’s parents happily watched the children whenever necessary. The two children never had the idea that they couldn’t achieve their dreams planted in their minds…Even if Oliver had the bad habit of planning their future careers in Quidditch for them.
Her brother had always had magical abilities, as long as Emily had conscious memory, but hers came later. She has the distinct memory of sitting in bed, anxiously staring at the wall, wishing and wishing her powers would come — even at age four. It wasn’t too long after that she was in the garden, watching her brother zoom around on a broom being chased by their father when her brother fell off and she laughed and laughed when suddenly the broom on the ground beside her shot up into the air in front of her. Wide-eyed and eager, she shouted for her mother and willed the broom up and down and up and down until the whole afternoon evolved into a celebration for her magic. Her mother baked a cake, and the anxiety about her magical talent dissolved. For years, she didn’t worry about anything. She watched her brother go off to school, Durmstrang (where her mother went) and then ultimately, Hogwarts, which left her green with envy for two years until it was FINALLY her turn to join him. As eager as she was, the quiet anxiety creeped into her mind. Her brother and father were Gryffindor. The most famous witches and wizards from her father’s war stories had all been GRYFFINDOR. What if Emily wasn’t? She’d never live up to her father’s expectations if she wasn’t recognized as worthy, right?
Her throat tightened at the Hat’s announcement of her placement in Hufflepuff, but she refused to show her feeling of disappointment as she watched her brother clapping from the Gryffindor table. It was the sight of the sea of yellow celebrating her arrival at their table that halted her second-guessing. Catching her brother’s eye across the Great Hall, he winked, grinning. A slow smile spread across her face as the girls beside her introduced themselves. Hufflepuff wasn’t what she expected, but as time went on, she knew deep down in her heart that this was right for her. Their kindness was her home. She became a proud Hufflepuff and energetic advocate of their house’s merits to any who doubted their worth. This test of character was the first of many that proved to fuel the growing seed of confidence in Emily’s heart.
Emily goes out of her way to make her friends feel good, reveling in the feeling of making others happy. With a normally upbeat attitude, she can be seen as flighty, but even with her tendency for spontaneity she’s a really hardworking student. Emily’s the type to care about everything and everyone — especially those closest to her. When she sets a goal, she reaches it. From flying every day to make a chaser spot on the Hufflepuff team to becoming Prefect. She’s worked to remain herself while grieving for her mother and credits her sanity entirely to her brother and friends. The only thing she doesn’t know is what she wants for her future…
I just love little sunshine humans. Ya know, the type that you just wanna reach into your computer and squish their adorable cheeks? I love those types of people...and I know that each and every one of you is one of these humans, and that’s why I’d love if you applied, because the next acceptance is in less then 4 hours!! I’m also around if you have any questions you need answered, or bio requests.
I also just finished the HTML of this masterlist page which is a nice and easy way for you to see who’s open and taken. You should check it out and at the same time, you could see if any open characters catch your eye. We have acceptance tonight at 8pm AEST, which is still plenty of time for you to send in an app to keep the one we currently have company.
