nearly a YEAR in hotel...but end at sight soon??

as title says, somehow been almost a freakin YEAR since the fire and we're still in the same hotel room. waiting. thankfully, we hope the end of this month or beginning of next to be able to begin moving back in. unfortunately that doesn't include however long it will take to unpack, but, whatever.

there's so much from my tumblr dash i've missed over this year, and my already backed up to hell drafts are significantly more clogged up in the interim. i hope to be able to go back to my usual routine once everything is returned to 'normal' and return to occasional reblogging...

this year has just been full of so much nonsense, it feels T -T

lately i've been trying YET AGAIN to get my drawing in gear since my first real boost during halloween and have managed four pieces from then to now, digitally colored, as well as a few doodles (some of which are STILL wips, because, well, it's me XP)

quick screenshot of my in-progress desktop, working on a gaiaonline freebie. i stopped here for today because my wrist/hand was starting to ache... nonetheless, maybe if i can keep this momentum going i can get some fandom pieces done/finished this year... (nearly all the kylux ones i've ever drawn are STILL wips!!) who even knows about my writing! it's been far ruder to me this year, and i'd so hoped perhaps THIS year i could get my freakin huxloween piece from 20damn20 to be complete at last >:/

as a denizen of this busted ass website for half my life now i do know how staff works and i’m going to lay out what they think will happen as someone who has witnessed this exact thing play out

People get very mad for a few days and then roll over and accept the change to the enclosure. This is what they are betting on. They have had meetings about this.

Getting around it: set an alarm. Get mad not just now, but in a few days, a week, two weeks. They are expecting people to sigh and get over this very odd edit to the site in a few days. Keep flooding them for more than just tonight. Be mad for the week, for the month. Leave a message every day.

like . I cant even blame them for being like “we’ll monitor for the week”. Remember when they changed the blue back in like 2015? This website acted like staff had gone into their house and shot their dog. We’re here because we’re allergic to change and therefore it’s hard to parse if people hate the change because it’s bad or because we go into thermonuclear meltdown over what color blue the background of the website is. Just continue to bug them beyond today and beyond this week.

Reblogs in a chain now get their own notes

The reblog chain is one of the things that makes Tumblr unlike anywhere else. All the notes on reblogs are attributed to the original post, no matter which branch people actually liked or reblogged. We want to keep encouraging conversations, and give contributors the recognition they deserve. 

Soon, you'll be able to like, reblog, or reply to any part of a reblog chain, and that note will go to that reblog's author. Each reblog will have its own counts, instead of one aggregated number from every version of the post. And yes, you’ll be able to like multiple posts in one chain.

If a reblog doesn't add anything, the love flows up to the last person in the chain who did. Your post doesn't lose notes just because people spread it quietly.

Past notes will stay on the original post — we're only changing what happens from here on out. Retroactively re-attributing all of them would be... a lot.

This is just the beginning. More changes are coming as we keep building this out – stay tuned!

will not be tagging any of the few reblogs to come just to be 100% sure i don't steal from OP nor make a mess for others' dashboards, because ohmygod, i restart after several days again and am hit with one of the worst changes tumblr has ever implemented. like, this time i'm actually POSTING a 'get this out of my head so i don't waste hours upon hours thinking on it' ramble vent.

i'm already ridiculously behind on my dash because of everything i've been dealing with in life right now, leading to said days of open tumblr tab and not shutting down my poor elderly laptop in order to keep my place in the endless scroll of months upon months i'm missing (and i know i have lost out on months worth of stuff too from being forced to restart at times as well). if they don't roll this back i will drown trying to see anything, engage with anything, find anything! it will be so much more time consuming; my interaction will be rendered useless and exhausting to bother with. UNLESS i avoid interacting with a post IN.ANY.WAY. at all; just quick scroll, quick glance, dip out, which is NOT what tumblr is about nor how i enjoy using it! tumblr is my home, the only 'social media' i really use now or ever, why is another thing being ruined for me???? let me catch a break, seriously! (-__-)

and i mean, not even taking into account the visual clutter, the massive hit to all forms of community here will be insane. fandoms will flounder and wither, creatives with suffer severely - if not the most by far -, plus the ease of theft of said creative works it will enable. the uptick in harassment/bullying - and with NO IDEA why it's happening at that - will boom; misinformation will become even more difficult to combat, and conversation and assistance won't reach the people it's intended for. there are so many forms of posts this will break or ruin!

reblogging and engagement beyond likes is already suffering here. this 'change' really will turn everything into a 'screaming into the void' space, regardless of the sort of content one posts/engages with. some blogs will genuinely die because the difficulty will be too much to deal with in order to maintain it.

despite @changes blasè response, one almost equally as tone-deaf and contradictory as the initial @tumblr post, this is not even close to the same as a mere visual change (some of which HAVE been rolled back in the past), this is fundamental. it's not a 'no one likes change, just give it a few days!' sort of upset. i've been on this site for well over a decade and have never seen so much negative pushback so quickly after a drop, one that i have numerous posts from numerous blogs i follow talking about it on my dash.

seriously, my brain hurts with this influx of disappointment. i've been dealing enough with an increase in headaches and migraines this last, oh, getting close to YEAR of exhaustive fire-related mess that i swear just LOVES to hit us when we're down, i do not need another hit making it worse.
