I was thinking about how in Back to Earth Lister decides not to stay with a version of Kris (who is a hallucination) because she isn't real. But later in the Promised Land, Lister asks Holo Rimmer to stay with him and convinces Rimmer that he is real.

Did the Space Corp Directives Manual not exist when Rimmer and Lister were working for JMC? And it got written sometime in the 3 million years between the accident and the rest of the show?

Because I find it odd that Rimmer would have never heard of the manual before Kryten started referencing it and be asking if it really existed or if Kryten was just making it up. He'd been in the Space Corp for 15 years. He's obsessed with rules and regulations. His dad was pressuring him to be in the Space Corp since he was born basically. I think if a manual did exist during his lifetime, Rimmer would have been all over that thing.
