When I was like 11 years old I had this horse in BOTW and back then BOTW was the most peak thing ever for me, and the horse's name was Gibbous.
Gibbous was a beautiful black horse with a single white stripe, feathering and great stats (in my 11 year old opinion). I decided he was a percheron/friesian mix.
I rode him literally everywhere, and found ways to get him past horse barriers and on top of and inside buildings. If I did a side quest, it wasn't to do good or save the world, it was because Gibbous "wanted me to." Then I started making him "date" another horse and then they got married in Hateno Village, and there were "fireworks" (bomb arrows).
When I got Tears of the Kingdom, I was overjoyed. Gibbous was then able to see the Great Plateu for the first time, get blasted off "into space," visit Goron City, and pull a literal other horse in a wagon. When I was that age, these were my only accomplishments and joys in life.
But then my mom tried to transfer my save data to a different Switch system and Gibbous was permanently lost with my save data.
I cried for like, half a year because I missed him so much. I created a new TotK save and got a horse that was exactly the same with the same stats, but it wasn't the same. I stopped playing for a long time.
These days I still play TotK, and I have tricked my dumb and autistic brain into thinking it is the same horse. So whenever I play TotK, I can feel almost the same amount of joy that I used to.
