Please do. I will back you up. I know Vince has said the show isn't necessarily explicitly about AI but like...an amalgamation of all existing human knowledge that cannot do or say anything original, cannot meaningfully simulate the human experience, and can only create slight (but soulless) variations on existing material uh...sounds a lot like AI yeah. There's a lot of room there for comparison.

One scene that stands out to me a lot regarding this is the grenade. It reminds me of how the Google AI and other models were and still are telling people to mix unsafe chemicals or other potentially harmful/incorrect information. It's a machine that billions of dollars have been sunken into that still tells depressed people to kill themselves sometimes. The hive is supposedly the sum total of all human knowledge and yet they still handed a very depressed woman a live grenade. That's not intelligence, that's a large volume of raw knowledge and mimicry, in both cases. I could go on about this for hours, actually.

The hive allowing Carol to slowly be driven to suicidality so that she’ll come crawling back to her out of abject loneliness and emotional starvation and at no point do they tell her someone is looking for her. Someone believes in her. He’s putting his life on the line for her. She is his only hope. They let her believe she’s really alone for a month. Totally alone. Universally hated. But she’s not, but what she doesn’t know can’t hurt them!

So. Just wanna highlight something IRT Pluribus EP 7: Solitary confinement is literally classified as torture. Carol isn't necessarily confined, but she's definitely been isolated in such a total way that the effect has to be similar. Whether her surrender is genuine or not remains to be seen, but the thing I keep saying about the hive is 'Every best manipulator on earth is in there.' They have used textbook abuse and manipulation tactics on Carol time and time again. Yes I get that it's fun to call the show Yuribus and ship Zosia with Carol but I just want us all to be clear here that what they did to her was extremely harmful, even though they claim they can't or don't want to inflict emotional pain.

That breakdown hug at the end personally made me feel so gross. Humans are a social species, we require physical contact with other humans to thrive. Carol grabbing on to her like that just screamed of desperation and it made my heart break. This is literally ~7 Billion V 1 nothing about this is okay

I do wonder what happens to the babies in the Pluribus world. How does a baby grow and develop when they have all the information of all of humanity in their heads at once?

In the first episode Carol saves a baby from falling off of the hospital counter. We never see inside the baby carrier, but we do see her reaction when she looks in it. This is in the moment when everyone is seizing, and she looks inside with a look of fear. She is seeing the infant seizing. So we know for a fact they did join the collective (unless they all died). But you are absolutely right to ask. What is it like for an infant brain to have everything in it like that. Infant hardware running the software of all the worlds minds in one. Amazing question to think about

And then Carol’s child neighbors and Ravi. What happens to child development when every child and infant in existence have all the knowledge of all humans in history in their heads. Adults at least have fully developed brains and bodies and have their own ways of speaking but children without fully developed brains? Infants and toddlers who don’t speak yet? What happens? What about the pregnant women? What’s happening to their fetus? Will newborns be born with the entire world’s knowledge? Will that mean that babies will just be able to speak immediately? How does it all work??

Something I adore about Gen V and The Boys universe in general is how they don't bypass characters' disabilities and/or struggles with the 'superhuman' excuse. Cipher calls out Marie for self-harming, Emma's eating disorder is continuously pointed out, and in the latest episode both of them have a *very* pointed moment where they sorta admit that these issues are deeper than just using these behaviors to access their abilities. They're unhealthy mechanisms that both of them use not just for their powers but for stress, trauma, etc and the show treats it as such. I also loved Sam finding out that his schizophrenia is genetic, and he would've had it either way. I think that lifted a bit of weight off of him in regards to his resentment of his parents because it's no one's *fault* exactly that he's like this.

I especially liked the arc with Sam because I think for him it’s all been so hard and it’s even harder because he’s really strong and he has to constantly fight that battle to not hurt people around him and to know he’s not in control of himself and how easily that causes pain.

And to learn that it’s something he would always have had to deal with means he has to finally learn to deal with it. Rather than just write himself off as something nuts and destructive and unloveable, he has to go right, I need to find a way to manage this because it’s not going away.

(And I’m like wow I’m projecting quite a bit here shit. I identify with being that really powerful human that had a big impact on those around you and got told you were uncontrollable and bad and broken and was forced to “redeem” myself even though I didn’t actually do anything bad. But I identify with sitting in the mess and going shit I actually have a duty to myself and to everyone around me to make this better)

Like Emma and Marie can get better. Their issues are considered “heal able” and they can 100% do that, but Sam will always have to struggle with it. And I am really excited to see what they do next with it.

I deeply appreciate K-pop Demon Hunters mostly for bringing back the art of shipping characters who have barely/never interacted in canon. Yes, correct, those characters *are* little dolls you can play with in your mind however you like, it's good for you.

What if I tell you that the ending of the original Lilo and Stitch was important because Nani fighting tooth and nail for custody over Lilo takes place against a history of the separation of Indigenous families? What if I tell you that the ending of the original Lilo and Stitch was important because it shows that Nani was not inherently a bad guardian, just a young overwhelmed woman who needed a support system and not punishment (just like many families esp Black and Brown single mothers do)?

And then Disney spat upon that ending for the live action remake?
