“Well, of course! Gonna need to make sure she’s healthy!”
“Yeah. Always a good idea.”
“That sounds about accurate.” Orion chuckled. “He kind of just lights up my world. Which sounds really dumb, I know.” She bit her lip and looked away. “I– I probably shouldn’t.”
He laughs a bit. “Yeah. Love sounds dumb. Or like.. Really insane like is dumb.” he laughed. “Why not?”
“Yeah, most people who do don’t come in till a little later.” She punched his order into the cash register as she spoke. “Would you like anything else?”
“Ah. Weird break hours for me I guess.” he laughed a little. “That’s it. Sorry to bother you during your down period.”
“You never know,” he said, chuckling. “That’s not always easy. But it seems to be a little easier here. Dunno why,” he said with a shrug.
“Well hopefully it never gets that far.” he laughed. “Yeah. It’s a little better here than other places. I think we just.. get a vibe from people.”
“I know you do. It still feels silly, though, doesn’t it?” Orion bit her lip, feeling embarrassed. “Well, um, no..”
“Yeah. Like that weird giddy uncontrollable feeling that makes you feel ridiculous because it doesn’t make sense for one person to make your whole world turn upside down.” he chuckled. He made a face. “Well maybe you should try.”
“Another good point made,” Jaden said, nodding. “But she seems to want help. She’s been following me around the past couple of days. I won’t force myself on her, she can come to me when she’s ready.” He smiled. “And thank you!”
“Yeah. Definitely take her to the vet.” he said, shaking his head.

he’s the cutest :)
Orion smiled shyly. “Well, um, I’m glad. It’s weird to feel this.. happy, you know?” She shrugged weakly and looked away. “I haven’t really spoken to him since I moved to New York. And by ‘not really’ I kind of mean ‘at all’.”
“Yeah. I know that feeling.” he chuckled a bit. “Have you tried to reach out to him?”
“I don’t know why you’re so willing to help, but thanks. It kind of sounds like you’ve done this before,” he joked, smiling at Nolan. “Eh, we’re terrible people. It’s okay. At least we have each other.”
“Because I’m assuming you’re not going to actually gonna kill someone.” he laughed a bit. “Yeah. Pretty terrible. Just gotta find people who make you feel a little better than you actually are.” he joked.
“No it’s fine. I fight fires.” He gave a good swing of the arm to show how patriotic that statement always felt to him. Whether it was cynical or not, it still felt right to do. “So when you try to take days off, it’s get complicated.”
He jumped back a bit and gave him a look. “Oh. Yeah I would guess you wouldn’t really be able to.” he said shaking his head a bit. “But there’s gotta be someone who can cover. Or like... weekends where fires aren’t as common o something.”
“No, no, no. We came to an understand.” She murmured. “I’ll explain that later too.. Everything is just really new. For both of us and we’re trying to get used to having someone else.. Though, have you around was a lot easier for me..’ Leaning into him as they walked, she left little to no space between them.
“Yeah. I need to get used to the fact that it’s not just you and me. I wish I could see him or that there were signs of him coming into the room or something. It’s hard to remember when I can see any signs of him.” he said shaking his head. He leaned in to kiss her forehead again. “But I want this to work. If he wants his own bedroom or something. I’ll do anything.” he said softly.
It took her almost a minute to notice the customer. After all, the coffee shop rarely got visitors this late in the afternoon. “Sorry. Welcome to Sweetbrew, what can I get you?”
“No worries. Can I have a large regular coffee?” he said with a bit of a smile. “Not many people in.” he laughed a bit. “No one needs that mid day pick up I guess.”
“Trust me.. you were all I thought about too.” She promised, as she dropped her hand to lace it in his. Starting to make her way down the street she thought to herself for a moment. “Well.. I don’t know..” She thought for a moment. “I could be the middle man.. But that could also be awkward..” She wrinkled her nose a little. “I’ll figure something out..”
He smiled a bit, squeezing her hand softly. “Well I’m down with finding a way to talk to him. Because I’m guessing he probably still hates me.” he said, scratching the back of his head.
“Okay.. Yeah. I just want you to think everything over, Norman.” She didn’t want him to take her back because she was there. Or because he was lonely. She wanted him to take her back, only if it was what he wanted. “Yeah? I can try to help..” She offered as she moved along with him, before pausing. “Wait.” Turning her head to the side, she nodded into air before looking back at Norman. “J-Jake want’s to talk to you too..”
He smiled at her a bit. “I know. I... I get it. I should I just... it’s you. How can I just... push you away when all I could think of while you were gone was you?” he sighed a bit. He looked really surprised when she said the thing about Jake. “Uh. Okay... sure. How does this work?”
“Okay… yeah..” Smiling at the feel of his gentle kiss, she nuzzled against him, holding him for a moment. “Thank you, Norman..” For not hating her. When it was clear that he had ever right to. “Even if you just let me stay today to explain everything, I’m just happy to be with you right now.”
“Lets decide that later. Because i really don’t want to think of you leaving again, even if I’m mad.” he smiled sightly, kissing her again. “Let’s go and I’ll make you dinner.” he said pulling her towards the door slightly.
“Good.. Cause I don’t want to walk away from you.” Ever again. She hadn’t wanted to leave in the first place, but right now all she wanted was to be with Norman. Be wherever he was. “I’ve missed you too.. Trust me.”
He leaned in and kissed her forehead. “Lets go home then.” he said softly. “We can have dinner and go to bed and everything’ll be fine.” he said. He hsted the fact that he couldn’t be angry.
“You do? That’s– That’s good. I’m glad.” She managed a weak smile. “I wonder how he’s doing.”
“I like hearing about people and how they feel about others. That’s what life’s about.” he said with a smile. “Especially if it’s a happy thing.” his smile faded a bit. “You haven’t heard from him?”
