Honestly, it's like picking up a book and saying "I know all these words, I can type, I could have written this" like there's no middle step between the technical ability and the finished work.

#nova reblog #i hate the types who only appreciate art when it’s appealing to them #regardless of what the medium is - paint pen pencil gouache #hell even like music or dance or whatever #if it doesn’t follow the norm or what they expect the best art should be they just ignore it #say they could do it. sometimes even better than the artist/performer #but in actuality they could never just do that #i’ve heard people say that marching band and colorguard seems easy. they they could walk on a field and play music or spin a flag #but it’s actually really hard to do that!#professionals make it looks easy and that’s what gives them the confidence to just ignore how difficult art can be to make #with the painting: the artist had to make a brand new colour and put it down without giving the canvas any visible texture #i’ve painted before and that sounds insane!#for marching band/colorguard: first you have to learn an instrument. then you have to go out and learn how to march correctly according to #your own band director. AND it has be to timed to music and in time with anywhere from like 30 i think? to over a hundred people #(depending on the size of the band/guard)#and you have to perform it as perfect as possible while essentially acting when you’re not playing (or for the guard: anytime you’re visibl #on the field)#that alone has so much complexity - it takes YEARS to master.#idk. I’m just tired of people who would be terrified to pick up a pencil saying that can do things that take time and effort and energy to #even train yourself to do #“i can do it” NO YOU CAN’T #did i rant a bit? sure. should i probably move that all out of the tags? probably. will i? no.
