So. I don't like this episode for purely personal reasons lol.
Garabaldi centric. As previously mentioned, I don't like the character or the actor so having to put up with him for most of an episode is grating lol
I find the plot here just tedious and inane? Its like we have to fill the 45 minutes so lets just drag this out as long as possible
Like, an entire earth decade ago, Michael made some enemies and a friend of his got murdered and the friend's daughter blamed him? And then also became a security officer? And is already in charge of presedential security? And seemingly never did a little side investigating into her father's death and so still blames him?
But before she shows up, we have an explosion in the cobra bays, which Garabaldi begins investigating, then the Major shows up and immediately begins Doing Revenge at Garabaldi.
She gives the explosion survivor enough stimms to force him awake and he immediately blames Garabaldi.
And like, if he knew Garabaldi planted a bomb why just go to work? If he saw the bomb right before the explosion how did he know it was Garabaldi? Michael wasn't in the bay when it exploded, cause he's not also laid up in med lab.
These questions, logical ones in my mind to ask, are never even brought up. This security prodigy just takes his word for it? Nobody even does a cusory check on this guy until act 3?
Anyway, Garabaldi get suspended, which yeah, he probably should be pending investigation, but Lianna is so obviously biased the show make Sinclair following regulations seem like a betrayal.
And then they search Garabaldi's quarters
We get our first appearance (I think) of Lou, the only decent security officer on station. I need to start using 'space happy' in place of 'crazy' or 'insane' lol.
And the audience (read me) is already fed with this dance. And so is Garabaldi
And they find more evidence!
Like, i don't know if the show is trying to make you actually suspect Garabaldi, but if it is its failing pretty hard. Not only is he a core cast member, but Lianna and Cutter are both so gleeful at any chance they get to frame him it doesn't sell. Maybe I'd find it more compelling if there was room for doubt. If her suspicions of him felt valid and not spiteful. But as it is? It feels hollow.
And I don't think the actress's performance is helping. She seems stiff, wooden, like she doesn't actually feel any of these emotions.
Anyway, we get a Garabaldi as fugitive sequence until we get into Very Special Episode territory. Its largely there for padding it feels? But we do get some actually good bits with the other characters

Once this all done, we engage with the specter thats been hanging over this episode: Doyle's Garabaldi's alcoholism.
This message falls flat for me. I don't feel like the character's struggle has even come up before this episode? So it being such a big deal suddenly and then very shortly resolved strikes me not as real character arc but just a Very Special Episode About Alcoholism.
Any way, turns out he was framed! By the nazis Home Guard from a couple episodes ago. Well everythings all better now. Lets not think too hard about far-right extremists who made their way onto the president's security detail

Virality on Reddit was entirely algorithmic. You could garner a couple crossposts, but the success of a post was entirely dependent on whether or not it hit r/all--the main page of Reddit. If your post does that, it's immediately exposed to 10x the number of people and immediately gets upvoted.
On my pun post, I get a couple reblogs. And those reblogs get a couple reblogs--nobody really adds any content to the post, it just gets a couple reblogs here and there.
There's a specific chain of reblogs that I'd like to focus on. The most popular post on this chain has about 25 reblogs on it. Half the posts have three reblogs or fewer. Five posts in this chain have just one reblog total.
But the reblog chain keeps going. And going. It breaches containment many times over. And finally, after a chain THIRTY SIX posts long, at 9:30 AM, July 22nd this morning, it hits a popular account.
99% percent of the people who have seen the post--virtually unchanged from how it left my dash--have seen it because it was curated by 36 different people. That's insane to me.
None of those 36 people know that they're part of this chain. They saw a post, reblogged it, and moved on. If any one of these people had not reblogged, the post would have a fraction of the impact it has.
And yet, after two weeks, the post has effectively hit the main page of tumblr. It was picked up, only because people liked it enough to show it to their followers. There were no algorithms necessary.
You really, truly, cannot get this on any other website.
[Today I Learned] A lightning strike can strip the bark off a tree completely.
The reason for this is, when the lightning hits it super heats the water under the bark, creating nearly instantaneous steam pressure. Which blows all the bark off.
