Since Homestuck is trending again because of the Spindlehorse Pilot, I did just want to take a moment to remember “Usagi” Buzinkai, a really talented composer who wrote one of the most iconic and reoccurring melodies in Homestuck, Doctor.
Usagi was a brilliant musician and composer who tragically passed away in 2018. She was early in her transition at the time of her passing, and I was unable to find any confirmation of the name she preferred. I will be referring to her using her online moniker “Usagi” since we don’t know how she felt about the name she was given at birth, or if she wanted to change it.
She wrote many of the most beloved songs for Homestuck, as well as the soundtrack for the game Spelunkey.
Usagi was a part of the LGBTQ community, and talked about her experiences regarding her trans and ace identities openly and with joy.
Her Bandcamp and last album, Qualia, can be found here
Usagi’s music deeply impacted many people. Homestuck as a whole would not be the same without the iconic songs that she wrote for it. Her music influenced Toby Fox, who remixed Buzinkai’s song “Doctor” and sites the song as a major turning point in his growth as a musician.
I didn’t even know that she was the composer or that she had passed until a few years ago.
I was really upset to learn that someone who contributed so much to something I loved had passed and, in my opinion, never really received the wide-spread recognition she deserved for her art. My goal in making this post is to try and educate people who were unaware of her artistic contributions to Homestuck. I hope to honor her memory, as well as the beauty and music she brought to the world.
I’ll leave you with a really lovely quote from her regarding accepting and discovering one’s identity:
“…There's nothing like that first time stepping out as yourself, talking about who you are meant to be without fear. The world might come knocking, but when it does, knock back louder and say it loudly and proudly;
"This is my life. This is who I am right now. I won't wear a mask for you."”
Kind of a personal introspective and vent (?) comic about the new soundtrack of OFF.
OFF is an abstract game that can have a lot of different meanings depending on how we interpret it.
If we’re appreciating the game for what it can say through interpretations and analysis, we should keep this state of mind for its new soundtrack too.
Man, the OST of the OFF remake is alright, but it's like, missing some absolute gem like the original...
CHAOS IS LIFE - MALEDICTION by Exaheva:
Hmm, after rereading the bit where the Undersiders and the Guild sic Leviathan on a refugee camp and kill a thousand people, I think maybe Lisa and Colin deserve everything bad that happens to them forever
It's when they send Leviathan to attack the Elite. 28.5:
It... shows Lisa's desperate need to be relevant, and remain A Player? Or maybe Taylor's disregard for the lives of people who don't abide by her rules?
Yeah, idk. It accomplishes basically nothing plot-wise, and the way it just gets glossed over and forgotten means it doesn't really do anything in terms of characterization either.
Oh wait, I know! It demonstrates the importance of Sabah and Lily as members of the Undersiders. They wander off for a quickie and by the time they get back the rest of the team is neck-deep in flimsy justifications for their atrocities
I feel like Lily must've brought it up at least a few times lol
Haven't finished Ward yet, but wasn't there a housing problem in the city that lead to conflict and the need of the backing of Earth Cheit?
Earth Cheit would send the worker and resource to help Earth Gimel, but some of said workers died in the Broken Trigger incident in the beginning of Ward, and Earth Cheit started threatening to go to war against Gimel.
There are only two capes that are able to quickly create buildings, Agnes Court and Ziggurat.
Agnes Court was killed by Leviathan, when the Undersiders send it against the Elite.
Ziggurat did survive the Simurgh attack on the YangBan (still sane?), but she was snatched by Khepri afterward.
Lastly, the Elite was the most apt group for reconstruction across earths.
So I can say that the Undersiders and the Guild attack does have some impact in Ward. The situation of Earth Gimel would probably have been far, far less worse if it did not happen.
this is going to be the most niche character overlap study in my life but whatever Disco Elysium -sad old man who had a past in physical training trying desperately to outrun said past -accompanied by a guy widely regarded as incredibly cool (at least from the player character’s eyes) who has a gun but never uses it unless the situation is incredibly dire -main character is put in a lethal situation and other guy uses gun to protect the other based on how close you are LISA: The Pointless -sad old man who had a past in physical training trying desperately to outrun said past -accompanied by a guy widely regarded as incredibly cool (at least from the player character’s eyes) who has a gun but never uses it unless the situation is incredibly dire -main character is put in a lethal situation and other guy uses gun to protect the other based on how close you are
this is so fucking inane but whatever. this is my house i get to go on an adderall riddled rant about two games nobody knows about
It's okay, take your time. You can always get fungi from the carcass after a while. Just keep the doing your thing. You are the reason kiss me son of god wss top one on my year's playlist.

not sure how large the intersection is between dunmeshi and parahumans fans but listen. could you imagine if laios got to meet bonesaw. could you imagine the conversations theyd have about what she could turn him into. all of the biology talk,, all the explanations of the mechanisms she would use to make his pores secrete a paralytic venom that only he would be immune to,, match made in heaven i think
i think nilbog was born to live in dunmeshi, he could have a dungeon.
this is genuinely how wildbow writes latin american capes
i havent stopped thinking about this. apart from the obviously spectacularly racist idea that all of south america is without exception a cartel-run narco-hell--(and iirc villains vastly outnumbering heroes is also true in brockton bay, so i don't know where wb is getting off with this 'three out of four of these south american capes are criminals' shit)--that 'cultural gap' thing is fucking insane!!
like it would still be super racist to say that about, like, chinese capes, but at least it would be an in-character sort of racist for taylor hebert, clueless teenage new england white girl. being like "i could never hope to crack the mysterious styles and attitudes of these inscrutable latinos" is like beyond parody. the gap between the visual language of the average usamerican and the eldritch puzzles presented by the cryptic scoundrels of south america can never be bridged. this is something lucille bluth would think
Huh, I was going to make a joke about how she really shouldn't talk about the hero/villain ratio...
But counting the number, it appears that only 2/3 of cape in Brockton Bay are villain, which is inferior to 3/4... my b, my b.
(not counting pre-Worm and post-Echidna villain)
I have been thinking on which Worm characters it would the funniest to put in a random isekai.
Taylor, Rachel, Contessa would all funny but after 5 minute of study, I can confirm that the answer is Number Man.
Number Man and Taylor forced to work together would be entertaining.
Putting Rachel in an Isekai would just lead to her clearing out a stretch of forest and settling in like she did on Gimel.
....but then drop Nilbog in there and have him be utterly disgusted that an actual fantasy world isn't everything he hoped for....like those kinds of weebs who go to Japan and find out it's not just like the anime
The real answer is Accord, btw
cant have one normal conversation in this city
Could Pocketcat solve the Kira murders?
Could catch Kira, would survive
Could not catch Kira, would survive

Could not catch Kira, would not survive
Probably don't count as human anymore.
No real name.
Can read mind.
Used to track human with magical power or magical potential.
I think he will do just fine.
