Has Buck been betrayed enough by his posse yet? Has he not found rest enough yet? Can some kind soul be his posse now and a person who makes life worth living, let him not go through life or death alone?
No? 🥲

"You seemed like you needed it" is something that Bobby would say. Ravi, don't ever leave
WEIRDED OUT AND WORRIED BOYFRIENDDDDDDDD 🥺🫶
Happy Anniversary to this scene and this scene only.
so you're telling me EXACTLY one year after confessions, buck is still baking. which could mean nothing.
Finally watched the episode and I'm once again disappointed in Eddie Diaz.
I just know they're going to get into it soon and I just hope someone is there to take Buck's side when it happens
Buck and Tommy could never see each other again and the show could end and wherever Buck ended up I'd still believe him and Tommy met up the next day and lived happily ever after

shoving his foot into his own mouth: Josh 🤝 Buck
tormented soul that believes he's difficult to love: Oliver 🤝 Tommy
slow burning (and torturing us in the process): wolfnichols 🤝 bucktommy
Rewatched The Morning After scene and I wonder if, while unpacking the coffee maker, Tommy looked around at all the boxes and briefly fantasized that he was moving in with Buck. And when Buck walked in, all he saw was his future about to begin.

Stay spooky. 🎃 Watch an all-new episode of #911onABC TOMORROW at 8/7c on ABC. Stream on Hulu.
Gonna toss in a few coins and join this bucktommy speculation because I've read/written a hefty few romances over the years and based on formatting, based on storytelling, based on this trope... bucktommy shouldn't be over or written off just yet.
I have seen many people take the stance that certain scenes were actually closure -vs- those scenes aren't closure at all. I believe both arguments to be true and the show wants you to feel that way.
When Tommy ultimately broke up with Buck it definitely felt like painful fucking closure .. but then Buck pined for multiple episodes. Tommy bubbled Buck. Buck became Bucky Crocker.
All of these things led people to question the closure, the break-up. [I even suspect the exit interviews were meant to upset so many]
Then, Tommy Kinard comes back. He admits that he has been desperate to reach out to Buck. He goes home with him. They fall back into bed together. Tommy even wants to try again before he ultimately sticks his foot into his mouth as does Buck [miscommunication trope I really hate you]
Then... there's not closure on screen but there's a weird factor at play here... the actual showrunner tries to create a sense of closure in an interview. That is practically unheard of. "Oh he forgot to call Tommy..." riiiight.
Suddenly, the actor who plays Tommy, an actor that very rightfully so has been in hiding from social media, posts that he's filming an episode after the episode that featured the morning of miscommunication hell.
This is all screaming will they/won't they.
The episode airs and we get the - "and for you."
And could that be closure? Sure. It's a shitty way to do it as if to say, this means we're still friends and I'll still be there.
But then they added that shot of Tommy in the tent. For a reason.
You don't add that scene and then not refer back to it in some way. It's just not done in storytelling. I won't even pretend to understand why they would choose to have Tommy in a flashback about Bobby except because he's important.
I've rifled through many interviews and fandom posts -shivers- and I noticed the biggest tell of all that, to me, proves bucktommy isn't over just yet:
The fact that the showrunner claimed the break-up was premature by design.
Even the bloke who plays Oliver knew it was an option at the beginning of season 8. An option. Not something set in stone.
I believe the break-up was premature due to the final decision of Bobby dying.
Buck losing everyone around him - his best friend, his boyfriend, plus Bobby who was essentially his father is exactly where the show wanted Buck to be. Completely alone.
As the audience whether you realize it or not, we, you, feel the emotions of the story on screen through different characters and Bobby's death was felt heavily through Buck's eyes. They hit us with all that and then gave us the final blow with having Athena be the only one there.
We know how many loses these characters have suffered through and season 9 will continue this theme obviously.
If I was a betting woman I'd say Buck will have a major breakdown this season and no one will see it coming until it's too late. Tommy is essentially gone. Eddie is back, but he's partnered up with Hen learning how to be a paramedic. Chim is dealing with survivor's guilt and being Captain, learning to trust his own decisions. Maddie just had another baby. Athena has her kids to focus on...
Now I'm not sure this breakdown will happen during an emergency but I do see it starting gradually. There might be a fight within the 118 or maybe even with Maddie. I think it might parallel Bobby's moment in season 1.
However, I think the main scene will take place whenever we see Tommy again. Will he be dating someone new? Will he have a NDE? Will he have gotten a job offer somewhere else and Buck finds out?
I have no idea but I do know that we haven't seen the end of Buck and Tommy's story yet and if I had to imagine, it's going to be epic.
As someone who writes for tv, this is exactly how I see it too. The showrunner and writers are delivering a master class on a will they/won’t they romance with Buck and Tommy and I’m absolutely in awe of how they’re pulling these (red) strings. It’s phenomenal writing and Oliver and Lou are delivering absolute gold. Can the creative team pivot? Sure - and they still might - but as someone who can see exactly what techniques they’re employing to keep the audience hooked, I’m beyond impressed by the storytelling. It’s so assured and so deftly handled (including everything around the show too). I’m amazed by the audacity and the care the writers and cast are displaying and they’ve got the audience exactly where they want them/us.
@hcrm I love your addition! Thank you 😘
The Only Adventure Left
Buck/Tommy 20,315 words
His mother blinked slowly. "I never should have answered the phone." That didn't make sense, because their phone had been ringing off the hook all week and his mother was always the one to answer. "I knew it was going to be bad," she said softly, slowly, almost like she was talking in her sleep. "I had the most horrible feeling in my gut when the phone rang. I've felt it before—I knew what it was. I should've just let the answering machine take it. I never should have picked up." More than two decades later, when Buck's phone starts vibrating as he's ruining the lamination of another batch of would-be croissants, he understands what his mother meant that day. Every atom in his body is straining toward the phone, but he can't unlock his hands from the death grip they have on the rolling pin in order to reach for it. Incoming call: T. Kinard
Thank you to everyone who tagged me in writing games, sent me messages, cheered me on, and cursed me out while I was working on this. I couldn't have finished it without you!

Thank you to the wonderfully talented & generous @rcmclachlan for letting me use one of my favorite quotes from her incredible fic (linked above). If you haven't read it yet, do yourself a favor and read it asap. And if you've read it, read it again (yes, it's that good).
As soon as I put these photos together, I knew the quote perfectly encapsulated this moment.
