Autumn bites her bottom lip and her smile turns into a grin as she enjoys the warmth in her cheeks. A short, impatient whine escapes her as she bounces very slightly, briefly contemplating jumping but deciding that maybe that's not the best idea. She's fighting a laugh as she tries to convey her feelings in response. "I want to kiss you but you're too tall."

She also wants to cuddle forever.

"Lucky?" Serrin repeated in disbelief. "It's kind of hard to feel 'lucky' when my sister's fucking possessed boyfriend tried to kill me." He grit his teeth and closed his eyes, pinching the bridge of his nose. Really, neither mission was ideal or had the best of results. Serrin's understanding was that shit had hit the fan at each location.

Maybe he had been lucky... aside from some near-death experiences Serrin had left Whirl Island intact, conscious, and having done what he'd set out to do there. Upon his return he had spent a lot of time in the med tent, mostly with Carina. He'd seen his teammates there, too, but -- Arceus, he hadn't seen Carina in so long and when he finally did see her again it was at the island prison and she was bleeding profusely. Serrin and the then on-loan Audino had managed to slow the bleeding but Carina still needed medical attention, and damn it all if he wasn't going to spend as much time as he could with her, as long as John or Hayes didn't kick him out.

As long as she didn't kick him out.

Thinking about his teammates was a, well it wasn't exactly a simple matter. Fletcher was an all right guy. Maybe a little strange, but Serrin hadn't spent much time with him. All he really knew about Fletcher was that he was a scientist (or maybe he was just interested in science? Serrin wasn't sure), a former Kanto pilot, and that purple bug of his had done a number on the Spook. Serrin was glad that they both made it out of the prison alive, at least. As for Marco and Joshua... maybe he should have paid them more attention.

Serrin had heard second-hand accounts of what happened to them in Goldenrod. And he knew even less about them than he did Fletcher. How was he supposed to say anything when he saw them? What would he even say? "Sorry you almost died"? "Sorry you've lost your voice"?

Yeah. That'd be great.

Serrin sighed and his face relaxed minutely.

Maybe he had been lucky.
