In all the years I've been on Tumblr. I've somehow never made a pinned post (something to do with never seeing myself as a part of communities and more so just existing around them anyways..)

I'm Manny 25+ and I haven't entirely grasped what this blog is going to be but I'm loud about politics, the batfamily, animation and books. I love to write and I'm working on feeling and healing so that'll show up. Im a yapper and I have no tag system (I've been working on that a while). “So... We got the exploding diarrhea. Here's my advice for anyone who doesn't have it yet:

It's going to take a minute for the government to pin down where this is coming from, and then issue a recall, because the FDA has been gutted. But, I can tell you, without a shadow of a doubt : this is coming from Taylor Farms produce, and you will see them recalled.

You'll want to avoid all Taylor Farms produce in the grocery store. They supply McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut, about any fast food place you can think of.

Raspberries, watermelons, cilantro, and the veggies you're hearing about are not causing this many people to get sick. It's the shredded lettuce, specifically, that's the problem. But, you'll want to stay away from every type of produce this company puts out, because one strand of shredded lettuce is all it takes to contaminate bushels.

Taylor Farms is the source. Taco Bell proactively pulled their produce from their restaurants. You're going to see other fast food places doing this, and probably will see that before the government names a source. The FDA knows this, but they can't come out and tell us all until there's proof, which takes resources and research, which takes manpower, but the FDA has been cut by about 20-30%

During the Biden term, onions at McDonald's had ecoli. We knew this because DNA testing was done quickly and they were able to narrow it down to one place that caused the outbreak. And, it was traced back to Taylor Farms. This isn't going to be solved as quickly though.

When you get this, make a virtual appointment to your PCP - a "same day sick" appointment. Tell them someone in your family just tested for this and was positive and was prescribed Bactrim. If you go in person, they're probably going to make you poop in a cup and wait until results come back to prescribe.

You'll know when you get this. Trust me on all of this.

You'll want to stay hydrated because this parasite damages the lining of the small intestine. Your small intestine, in turn, secretes more water into the gut, and less nutrients and liquid are able to remain in the body. So no matter how much you shit, you're going to want to drink. A day of this leads to dehydration if you don't increase your fluid intake, and a few days will land you in the hospital.

If you have headaches, weakness, muscle cramps, dizziness, or an increase heart rate - hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Go to the ER for fluids if you can't drink enough.

in may the question paper for NEET leaked. that's the national medical entrance exam. over 2.2 million students took it. cancelled. years of studying, families' savings poured into coaching, gone overnight because someone sold the paper. students died by suicide after. these were kids who wanted to be doctors.

and out of that came a protest movement. a gen z group called the cockroach janta party, started by a 30 year old named abhijeet dipke, got 22 million instagram followers within DAYS. they've been doing a sit-in at jantar mantar in delhi demanding education minister dharmendra pradhan resign.

and then there's sonam wangchuk. if you've watched 3 idiots, he's the real engineer the character was based on. built solar schools in ladakh. invented ice stupas so himalayan villages have water. spent his whole life on education. he's 59 and he's been on hunger strike for 17+ days now. reporters went to see him this week and he was too weak to talk. and the troll armies are calling him "anti national" and "foreign funded". a man starving himself for other people's children. that's the thing here, anyone who asks a question is suddenly a traitor.

it's not one incident, it's everywhere you look:

• infrastructure worth thousands of crores failing within months of the ribbon cutting. tunnels collapsing in regions where heavy rain is a guarantee, not a surprise.

• youth unemployment near 10% for ages 15 to 29, 13.6% in cities. in a country of 1.42 billion where more than half the population is young.

• only about the top 3% of indians earn above 10 lakh a year. meanwhile billionaire wealth keeps ballooning and the headlines celebrate it.

• manipur burned for over two years. an ethnic conflict, tens of thousands displaced, and the prime minister barely said the word manipur while it happened.

• journalists raided. critics' houses bulldozed. activists sitting in jail for years without trial under laws like UAPA. our press freedom ranking has cratered.

• even the petrol is a fight now, ethanol blending pushed through while drivers complain about their engines and get no straight answers.

and through all of it, the PM, who came to power on religious polarisation (americans, sound familiar?), travels abroad for photo ops and has not held one single open press conference in over a decade. not one.

what i'm asking:

if you're not indian: share this. our media mostly won't cover any of it because the big outlets are owned by the same billionaires the government serves. the only reason wangchuk's fast is getting any coverage is people refusing to look away.

if you ARE indian: speak up even if you're comfortable. especially if you're comfortable. join the protests. add to this, correct me, translate it. staying quiet is a choice when nothing in this post touches your life.

india is not "dirty". india was robbed, and it's being robbed again, from the inside this time. but it's also the country where a 59 year old will starve for strangers' kids and 22 million young people will rally behind a party literally named after cockroaches, because cockroaches survive everything.

The world needs more compassion, genuinely more than anything else. it doesn't need you to be more right. it doesn't need you to be more angry. it doesn't need you to break yourself or others more, it needs more compassion from every living being. that doesn't mean don't be angry. that doesn't mean don't fight but my God....

it feels like nobody knows how to talk to each other. nobody knows how to fucking emotionally regulate. nobody knows how to consider nuance. nobody knows how to respect people on a basic human level, whether you like them or not. furthermore, compassion doesn't mean that everybody's going to coddle your fucking feelings and understanding doesn't mean you will be excused. I would just love if we all remembered that so much of our politic and activism is meant to be informed by the fact that we care. we give a shit what happens to others. we give a shit what happens to our environment. we give a shit about protecting our communities and we give a shit about ourselves. every system in this world is built to have us forget that. which is why it's so damn hard for all of us to remember. for those of us sitting at the intersection of multiple oppressed identities, I know it's not just anger. it is exhaustion. and we're human so sometimes we fuck up. sometimes we lash out but remember to come back to yourself. it is never too late to take accountability whether people forgive you or not. it is never too late to do the right thing. not because that means everything's going to work out all sunshine and rainbows now but because it is the right thing. because we care.

if I had a catchphrase it would probably be words mean things.

it eats me up inside when people do not use words clearly and correctly because I feel it is what breeds a lot of confusion and sometimes even harm. like how we call everyone who sexually abuses children pedophiles. pedophilia is a clinical term that is meant to reference these people who are plagued with this attraction to children and a pedophile is not automatically an offender.

I have an issue with this because lots of these Epstein fuckers and people like them, whether the 1% or not, are not pedophiles. this is not a mental illness. they are getting off on power or access or taboo or opportunity but it is only to do with their desires and willingness to do harm. a clinician would not treat them the same and neither should we. people would argue that I'm getting hung up on words and they're trying to protect kids, but outrage is not protecting children.

we can't even get y'all to understand that killing all pedophiles isn't helpful policy even when you are referring to child sexual abusers. I'm sure lots of people want to help children. I'm sure most people wish no child would ever experience this harm, but you're not listening, you're not paying attention. you're refusing to understand that your preconceived notions about these topics are often incorrect and lacking necessary clarity and are unhelpful!!!
