I know we've talked about this whiteboard before but i'm obsessed with a couple things

the way ryland wrote "single" like he was POSITIVE and then changes markers and writes "carl... (foggy)" and then CIRCLES BACK to single and goes "single?" like the vision of carl fundamentally shook his confidence in that fact

between "single" and "ALWAYS MUSCLES??" he thought that he should try different fonts

apparently got tired of writing in his all caps and was like maybe I'm a cursive guy and wrote "good at cursive" in cursive and he was so disgusted by it he immediately crossed it out

also he misspelled "glasses" as "glasss" at first and even though he could have erased it he just wrote over it

sighing wistfully thinking about how much better some of these tv shows could be if they let their characters wear clothes that aren't hypermega expensive and instead fit with their character, if they let them have recurring shirts or just jeans that look like they've been worn before, if they added clutter to their homes that felt real and not just picked out of a design magazine, if they let their world and possessions feel lived in, like a space they have carved out for themselves, instead of everything being tailored to fit yet deeply impersonal

okay, you know what? Running away shouldn’t be a crime. It shouldn’t be dangerous, either. Any kid should be able to leave their parents if they want, for any reason. No I’m not kidding.

“But Rue, where will these kids stay? Do you want them on the streets?”

of course not. In an ideal world, a kids would have multiple adults other than their parents they could look to for care, but I recognize that that will never be a reality for every single child. So: youth shelters, if they have nowhere else to go. There should be clean, warm shelters where anyone under 18 can stay for as long as they need, no questions asked. (And of course shelters that aren’t just for kids, but we’re talking about youth rights right now)

“But Rue,” I hear you say, “what if some moody teenager runs away after an argument?”

First of all, I’d rather a thousand moody teenagers run away than one abused child be trapped. Second, so what if one does? A kid needs time away from their parents, so they leave. The vast majority of them will get some time to cool down and then go back home, and if they don’t want to go back, period? Then nine times out of ten, they have a good reason. (Because yes, as hard as it is for you to believe, kids are humans who have common sense.)

“Okay, but what about the one time out of ten the kid doesn’t have a good reason?”

Then the kid doesn’t have a good reason. It doesn’t change anything. If someone wants to break up with their partner because of something stupid, you wouldn’t say they legally shouldn’t be able to. (And if you would, then you’re just a bad person.) No one should have to be in a relationship, romantic or otherwise, that they don’t want to be in.

"you don't know what you have until you lose it" works for things that suck too btw. sometimes you need to experience life without something for a while to realise oh damn that was some bullshit

This was a man, dressed as a plant, making pigeon noises at people walking by. I said hello, asked if it was okay to take his picture, and then asked why he was dressed as a plant. He said, “I’m just working through some stuff. Thank you for asking. No ones asked yet.”
