okay this is really fascinating to me bc I feel like what they're each picking up from each other is "this woman fails to meet the standards of hetero womanhood" - none of them look like the lead of a romcom, none of them look like an instagram model. passing each other on the street they won't look that closely, but when scrutinizing the image, they pick up on these "failures" and interpret them as deliberately signaling disinterest in male attraction. the secret of course is that no one can meet these standards because they're fake; instagram models and movie actresses are staged and edited.

of course the creator probably got some "straight" responses and edited them out but it's interesting right? that wearing a leopard print top or being the "wrong" body shape pings whatever passes for a gaydar on straight people? that women in t-shirts without a full face of makeup are not performing enough femininity to be "real (straight) women"? the unprompted transvestigation is not unrelated from the distinction of who is a real straight woman.

I just don't think it's transfeminist at all to only engage with something when it pertains to you or mentions a group that you're a part of! Worst semantic drift in trans discourse by far is how "transmed" got butchered.

Transmedicalism used to refer to people who were fully complicit with the idea that transness should be decided by medical institutions, and that only a few true transsexuals should get to access any form of medical transition. It referred to the types who genuinely believe that, for instance, lesbian trans women in general are just fetishists.

Nowadays, "transmed" gets thrown at people who advocate for accessing care without relying on these institutions, or even just suggest that medical transition can be good for someone.

It's effectively been co-opted entirely from a criticism of people who advocate for compliance with power structures, to an accusation thrown at people directly opposed to those same structures.

Yeah and no one mentions how we found out only 2 years ago that testosterone causes pelvic floor dysfunction in 94% of trans men (x) I wish trans health care was healthy and that they actually did proper research on cross-sex HRT but at least it's starting to happen now.
