Oak's Laboratory Head Cannons

Headcanons of what life is like on Oak's Labratory for Ash's pokemon. Feel free to submit!

Berry Parties

Some of Ash's most mature pokemon happen to be his bird pokemon. As such, Noctowl, Staraptor and Unfezant get together once a week in order to have "tea parties", otherwise known as berry parties, which usually amount eating on a apple tree and talking pleasantries with each other. Noctowl, the leader of the berry party club, had one day decided to include Ash's other flying type pokemon into the society. When Gliscor joined he was so intermediate with the fancy atmosphere that he tried to be as fancy as he could possibly be. In the midst of passing Unfezant an apple, the fang scorpion attempted to offer it in a showy-princely manner and promptly fell of the branch he was perched on. On his way down, Gliscor took out Staraptor and Noctowl with him. The three fell on top of the Alpha-Tauros and triggered one of the most devastating Tauros stampedes in Oak ranch history. Gliscor was promptly kicked out of the society. Charizard joined the berry party once and left within five minutes when he realized that there would be a lack of combat.

Glalie, the Ninja Prankster

Glalie was quite the trouble maker as a snorunt, and this carried over in evolution. However, Glalie is much more covert about his prankster ways. Over the months Glalie has fined tuned his ice beam to ridiculous accuracy and frequency. Glalie can fire a thin, almost unsee-able, stream of ice which he uses to trip up his fellow pokemon. His crowing moment of achievement happened when he tripped Bulbasaur on top of Snivy. The Grass snake pokemon yelled out "PERVERT!" and slammed her fellow grass type through a tree. Everyone in the ranch now thinks that Bulbasaur is a closet lech, much to Bulbasaur's displeasure. Only Glalie knows what really went down, and he still giggles about it from time to time.

Coach Charizard

Ash hadn't used some of his Pokemon in a very long time, namely Kingler and Muk. The two have gotten quite fat because of this and Charizard offered to coach the both of them back into shape. Kingler and Muk agreed to having Charizard train them, wanting to get back into tip top shape in case Ash ever uses them again. However, what they didn't realize was that Charizard would be using the training regime he had during his time at Charific Valley. Kingler and Muk were put through hell, jumping through hoops of burning steam, running on scorched Earth and diving head first into streams of blazing fire. The two have since regretted ever taking up Charizard's offer.

To Find Me a Rival

When Charizard came to Oak's laboratory he immediately tried to find a rival/sparring partner. Charizard went to Snorlax first. The Fire lizard figured that since Snorlax was one of Ash's strongest, he'd put up a good fight. Unfortunately, Snorlax was a heavy sleeper and Charizard, no matter how much he scorched the the damn thing, couldn't get him to wake up. Bublasaur however, decided to help out Charizard and he introduced him to Sceptile and Infernape. Sceptile, despite the type advantage, was the only pokemon besides Charizard and Pikachu, to defeat a legendary pokemon. Infernape is a powerhouse fire/fighting type so the monkey was able to keep up with the lizard. Both pokemon were able to give Charizard some good sparring sessions and the three are often regarded as the "Monster Trio" of Ash's pokemon.

The Sheriff and the Outlaws

Bulbasaur acts as a peace keeper, or a sheriff, between all of Ash's pokemon and makes sure everyone is on their best behaviors. Not a lot of Ash's pokemon really give Bulbasaur trouble: except for Heracross, Buizel, Corphish, Scraggy and Gibble. Heracross is always trying to eat  the sap in Bublasaur's bulb. Scraggy, Buizel and Corphish are the most competitive of all of Ash's pokemon and are constantly starting fights in the ranch area. Gibble's naivety and tendency to bite brings problems to the little dragon. Bulbasaur's issues usually start with those five Outlaws.

Grass Bros

All of Ash's grass type pokemon get along well with Bulbasaur with the exception of Snivy. Bulbasaur and Sceptile have a deep respect for each other's abilities. Torterra and Bulbasaur have quite a lot in common and they consider themselves long lost brothers. Bulbasaur finds Bayleef's energetic and naive demeanor to be endearing and guards her like an overprotective older brother. Leavanny is a very caring and helpful pokemon who helps Bulbasaur out whenever the other pokemon fight or when Ash's tauros start rampaging around. Snivy has a bit of a crush on Bulbasaur but she doesn't really know how to articulate her feelings so she acts like a tsunadere around him. Bulbasaur thinks Snivy doesn't like him very much.

Rivalries

Infernape and Charizard have a friendly rivalry with each other and both often spar with each other everyday. Scraggy and Corphish however fight at any given opportunity and are very competitive with each other.

Butting Heads

When Scraggy arrived at the laboratory he picked a fight with just about everyone of Ash's pokemon who he didn't meet yet. The stronger pokemon, like Charizard, Sceptile and Snorlax simply ignored the youngster. The energetic and headstrong pokemon like Bulbasaur, Totodile, Gibble, Buizel and Corphish gladly took up Scraggy's offer. Professor Oak usually has to heal Scraggy on a daily basis due to his competitive attitude landing him in constant battles.

Besties for Life

When Leavanny came to the ranch he and Bayleef immediately struck up a strong friendship. Leavanny loves to make clothes out of various leaves and Bayleef loves trying them out. The two are often seen together and despite their closeness, their love for each other is strictly of the sibling variety.

Old Friends

When Charizard decided to stay at Oak's laboratory instead of Charific valley, Bulbasaur was ecstatic to see his old friend again and the two pokemon are now inseparable and constantly in each other's company. The two often reminisce about old friends, past battles and old adventures.

Snivy the Tsundere

When Snivy first arrived in Oak's laboratory, she developed quite the crush on Bulbasaur. She doesn't know how to articulate her feelings so whenever Bulbasaur says hi to her or looks directly at her Snivy turns away from him. Poor Bulbasaur thinks he did something to make her upset and spends a few minutes ever day trying to figure out what. Snivy is a bit of a Tsundere.
