I knoooow I know all the criticism of snw and I'm acknowledging it etc etc but I enjoy it nonetheless because it's the only tos adaptation that understands TOS whimsy

Also I feel like a lot of judgement towards snw presumes TOS didn't have episodes that wildly differed in quality and characterisation. Sadly I would say in this it also stays true to the spirit of TOS OTL

One of the episodes I remember watching growing up were literally about Tribbles being rabbits and causing chaos in the Enterprise bc they got everywhere and at one point Kirk was literally floating in a pile of them-

That and also a LOT of fanfic tropes stemmed from Star Trek TOS, and also DS9.

Been having thoughts on Erica’s and Chapel’s slowly waning friendship, and tbh I think it just stems from not just the 3 months away from each other (when Erica was on medical leave and Chapel was doing her Fellowship), but more specifically what happened on Vadia IX.

As in, the one time Erica’s younger brother went on an away team expedition and almost got killed while she was still doing her 2 weeks of chain of command training [I assume, given her reaction to being told about what was going on way later, when the away team was stuck on Vadia IX - plus in the previous episode she had to be pulled away from the chain of command training bc she was one of the only people to fly the ship with the lack of power it had at the time].

Knowing how much she and her brother talk, her brother would’ve probably told her how Chapel took Dr. Korby’s side to stay there in that weird temple-jail-subspace-dimensional place, despite having found out there might’ve been a danger. Same with Nyota being there as well - both her best friend and her younger brother were endangered purely because of that fact.

And, that goes without saying, Chapel herself, La’An, and Spock were also there. Erica cares for all of them. They could’ve gotten killed, or hurt like Ensign Gamble was. And as we know with Erica, she cares a lot about her people. And her family.

One could imagine, with Christine siding with Dr. Korby despite her foreknowledge of what the crew usually does in that kind of situation, a bit of Erica’s respect waning for her. The decision Dr. Korby made was the crux of what happened later in the season too, after all, and it endangered Beto of all people.

Wouldn’t be surprised if that was the start of the separation, especially since that was one of many things Erica had to go through that season. Also Christine was barely seen without Dr. Korby that season outside of her job, from what I remember. Seeing how angry Christine was at the start of the recent episode we might be hearing more about them soon 👁👁

I find it really funny when Star Trek fans are like ‘oh, new trek is ruining my serious Sci-fi show, ugh! Stupid musical episode and muppets episode.’

Like. Have you watched Star Trek? Do you remember when Sulu ran around the Enterprise shirtless with a fencing sword? Do you remember when Sisko formed a baseball team to play against his old Vulcan rival and his crew? Do you remember when the Janeway had to LARP as ‘the Queen of the spider people’ in Tom’s Captain Proton holodeck program to save the ship? Do you remember when the crew of the enterprise had to go back in time and bring back a pair of whales do save earth? Have you seen literally any episode with Q in it?

Do you not have joy and whimsy in your heart?
