We are a trauma based system of 5 Gene, Monkey, Professor, Spider Beatle B (just call it Spider), and Silvy. Which has only recently been safe enough to start unpacking said trauma. yeah so i didn't hallucinate this being the ending of contrapoint's video on 'the witch trials of jk rowling'.

the video was great, so many great points, very well made, all of that. and then at the end she says this. i can't tell if it's a joke or not because it's so absurd, especially in contrast to the rest of a great video. like it feels like a rug pull.

i live in the uk, a place where jkr has directly gone out of her way to attack the rights of trans people and has been pretty damn successful. just blocking her on twitter isn't gonna stop her from affecting the lives of people like me. i don't even have twitter.

yes, jkr isn't the final frontier of transphobia, but in the uk she plays a big fucking role. and she still did 3 years ago when this video was posted.

it's just so baffling to me that this was her conclusion. like am i just being autistic and not realising that this is a joke? fr, tell me if that's the case. but if not, this was such an oit of touch thing for her to say that i thought i misremembered it.

...mind you, considering recent events, her being out of touch is very in-character 🫩

I left Twitter cause I got tired of receiving death and rape threats for being a trans woman by fascists on the platform after Musk took over only to wind up on tumblr with a bunch of trans women insisting we do the EXACT same thing to trans men that LGB without the T did to all of us trans people.

They want to dump trans men on their own the same way cis gays did to all trans people.

I refuse to have it. I refuse to turn on my trans brothers. I will shout it over and over from the roof tops that we need to stick together now more than ever. The discourse between fems and mascs is just about the most stupid shit you can possibly do under a fascist regime THAT WANTS YOU FUCKING DEAD.

Don't be a fucking idiot. Touch some grass. Testosterone is not some magical poison that turns you into an evil misogynist. Trans men have experiences with misogyny before they transition. Teansandrophobia is real. Trans men are real men. Testosterone should be free and handed out at your local pharmacy like napkins at McDonald's.

And the best part is that you too can believe all this and still be completely valid as a woman. Recognizing the rights of trans men to exist and be happy and support them in doing so does not invalidate my feminism nor my own identity.

trans masc erasure in gender scholarship when i took a 400 level class on transgender studies and not a single case study or biography was centered around a trans masc view point. and i felt such shame calling out the professor on this, because it felt like in order to uplift my brothers i had to take away from my sisters. that should not be the case.

If you’re not a trans woman you need to get way more comfortable with trans women talking about issues that don’t affect you. If you’re not a trans man you need to be ok with trans men talking about their own experiences that don’t affect you. If you’re not non binary you need to stop being weird about nonbinary people talking about the poor treatment they get for being nonbinary. If you’re not intersex you need to stop inserting yourself into conversations that aren’t about you and begging to be centered. Everyone get less self centered NOW!!!!

A lot of fae stories have it where only your "true" name counts, so nick names or false names do not mean anything to them, and it's not them collecting names so much as your identity and whole being (which is the actual horror of give the fae your name) so presumably your dead name would act the same as a false name and leave them feeling tricked. Not sure if any intentional dead name cases are in myths but we've had plenty named later in life for other reasons and their new names where the ones that worked so it would stand to reason fea want your trans name.

Although be careful cause the fea often find people being rude to be worth killing over, so it's best to just say "you may not have my name, but you may call me [name]" or smth

I think people need to understand that everyone has to unlearn misogynistic behaviors and thinking patterns. Cis women and trans women and cis men and trans men and anyone who doesn’t fall under those categories are all completely capable of being misogynistic and actively hurtful to women. i do sometimes get really confused when i remember that stretch marks aren't like widely recognized as extremely attractive. the fact that during periods of growth, skin will form cracks (frequently in the shape of lightning bolts. objectively awesome). their color will vary wildly both with the color of skin, the location, and the lighting and temperature. the texture will persist, an indentation in the skin that can be easily felt. that's like such chuuni shit. im chuuni about this. sorry how could you not be chuuni about this. and textural complexity that reflects on a complex history of a subject is like famously the most awesome thing to feel when feeling anything. we talk up trees for this all the time. one of the most fun things to feel while groping. but noooo you have to be ashamed and feel bad about it. fucked up world.
