Fabrics, cool hats and people who hand make hats. There is something relaxing about finding out about hat making, and I'm using this blog to keep my findings in line so that i can have this as a rescource when I finally get round to making a hat. I work in the TV/web video industry and currently reside in Brooklyn New York. I have a hat collection. It is small and I'm quite particular about buying.

It's a good mix of the popular Aztec pattern and deluxe blue pinstripe. Looks comfy, for a 5 panel cap. Made by Play Cloths.

FABRIC OF THE TIME: Bright blue & gold floral blossoms mix with neutral white and brown in this floral fabric. The stripes in the floral blossoms make this floral have an abstract geometric feel.

The Ampal Creative made this video ( half adventure..... half actual hat making) on how they produce their hats in LA. 

"Buckram is the fabric used inside a cap to stiffen it. Some use a liquid starch that is sprayed on the cap while it is on a block to give the cap its shape."

The Cosmos camp hat! Once again not a fan of wearing these but it looks so dam coolio. Available in 2 colors but it ruins the idea. Keep it black. Pretty pricey LA brand but if you want to wear the cosmos go ahead (store link on image).

Henry "Hotpepper" Brent 2 time United States Boxing Association Flyweight champion 1982 and 1987. I met him and his Brooklyn hat at my gym. He showed me his 15 round finals photo and told me he got his hat on 72nd st lower Manhattan. That's all I could get. This man is legit. Showed me some back workout. (Taken with Instagram)

I stopped by the Adidas store in Soho to check it out. They have 2 good hats, although I bought this one above (standard blue), I wanted the Adidas skateboarding flat brim.

I own this one, picked up up in Vancouver. Nine is the brand and it's based there so pretty happy to discover it. They make them of a high quality and it looks great. I don't really wear camp caps at the moment but loved this one too much. Will be a sell on in time, only because I believe in wearing what you own.

So here is the Dark Seas snapback in turquoise. I like it. It's nice and bright with a good design, not shabby and quite fun. Dark Seas is a new brand to me so it was suprising to visit their site and see that this style was out of the ordinary for their hat range. They have matching shirts for the hats though!
