Its crazy to me that jpitv nearly spoils itself in the very first scene. When mr. smith is introducing the crucible, he briefly draws a parallel to what’s happening in the world and where they live. He all but calls #metoo a witch hunt in the very first scene, but it’s done in such a way that a first time watcher won’t notice it. And its just. so. Brilliant.

Thinking a lot about Miss Gallagher's arc. Knowing Mr. Smith when she was younger and being charmed by him and not believing Lorin Kerr and her little and Ellen because she was, in a sense, manipulated by him too. The realization she has when Mr. Smith blames Shelby and says he knew she had a crush on him but he didn't shut it down. You can see it on her face, the pieces fitting together that this is how easily he spins things, how he manipulates the people around him so they always believe him and not his victims. After not standing up for the girls and their club, bowing to external pressure, she finally takes a stand for Shelby, the only girl she can still protect from him.
