Whumper has a parent or parental figure who is still present in their life. They don’t approve of what Whumper is doing to Whumpee, but they don’t stop it either. Whumpee knows that, at the very least, they can go to Whumper’s parent if something is seriously wrong (Do they help out of pity and guilt, or do they view it as keeping Whumper’s plaything in working order?). Whumpee has to be careful, though. Whumper doesn’t appreciate their parent meddling and will punish Whumpee for seeking them out.

What happens when Whumpee is so hurt/sick that they’re close to dying? Does Whumper’s parent intervene and save Whumpee or let them die to teach Whumper a lesson about taking care of their things?

What about when Whumpee starts getting closer to Whumper’s parent, and they start to view Whumpee with parental affection? Will Whumper get jealous? Would Whumper’s parent consider freeing Whumpee?

There’s just so much potential with this kind of relationship.

Whumpee can’t remember part of what happened to them for some reason (magic, trauma, mind earasing machine—whatever works for the story), but caretaker/another character does. All whumpee knows is that whatever happened was bad enough that their mind either forced itself to forget it or someone else (whumper? caretaker?) erased it from their memory.

They desperately what to know what happened, but aren’t certain that knowing the truth is worth the cost of remembering something so awful. Maybe the person who knows what happened tells them the truth. Maybe they don’t, and whumpee is forced to ask whumper. What happens when whumper refuses to tell them too? What could be so terrible that the worst person whumpee knows won’t even speak of it out of fear of breaking whumpee forever?

caretaker developing romantic/sexual feelings for whumpee and feeling extremely guilty because whumpee is recovering from awful and traumatizing shit, caretaker has no right to fall in love in this situation. extra cookie points when the shit involves sexual trauma, caretaker would rather die than be feeling anything similar to attraction.

OKAY so I need someone to write a Quillkiller girls boarding school muggle Au and Rita has a Blog where she exposes the secrets of the girls in the boarding school but NOONE knows who Rita is and BELLATRIX wants to find out WHO she is.

Whumpee who has been heartbreakingly quiet ever since they returned to “normal” life. Maybe it’s presented through anger, or resentment, or fear, or sadness, or pure dissociation, but it’s strikingly different from their previous chattiness and it breaks Caretaker’s heart.

At first, Caretaker tries to draw them out of it. Tries to start conversations, ask questions, get Whumpee to talk about something, anything. But Whumpee is not at all receptive.

So, Caretaker gives them space. Lets them sit quietly, process things at their own pace.

And one day, while they’re sitting in this companionable silence, Whumpee starts to talk about an old hobby or passion. They start slowly, but when Caretaker just nods and lets them continue without interruption, they start sounding just a bit more like their old selves. All the while, Caretaker forces themselves to listen quietly and casually even as the heart swells with relief and love.

I’m sorry but can you imagine how worried wymack must’ve been when neil, the one who insisted he was fine no matter how fucked up he felt, called him up on a holiday and answered his “are you alright?” with “no, no. I’m not.”

neil who avoids using his phone at all costs. neil who holds a grudge against that thing. that neil called him right before new year’s eve, telling him no, I’m not fine. please come and get me.

and then he had to put neil back together when he broke. just imagine how worried wymack was, holding the “I’m fine” kid in his arms and trying to keep him together. just imagine.

Imagining in the future when Kevin is on a pro team (with a bunch of players who obviously aren’t up to his standards, because who is) and he is absolutely laying into them all the time and is always bringing up

“Neil Josten would come to the court every single night and practice these drills and you can’t even do them for fifteen minutes”

“Neil Josten once fired shots with Andrew Minyard in goal for a whole night and blew out his arms just because he was stubborn and you can’t even handle shooting on (insert goalie’s name)?”

“Neil Josten played better than you while he was actively running from the Mafia. You think you have other things on your mind?”

Bonus if after a year or two of dealing with this Kevin’s team finally meets Neil at an exy banquet and tattle on him. And Neil is just “??? You literally texted me two weeks ago just to tell me my passes are dogshit? My team hadn’t even played a game or anything, you had just remembered and felt like bringing it up?”

During the end of Kevin's last year in Palmetto, Wymack starts putting Neil and Kevin on Court at different times (instead of togheter) so that Neil can get more used to not having Kevin on the court with him

Needless to say, both of them hate It with a burning passion

Kevin whines about how everyone is too slow and they are never where he needs them to be(that Neil always is goes unsaid). Neil whines about how the underclassman can never really understand what he is thinking(that Kevin always understands also goes unsaid)

The first game in which they actually end up not playing togheter at any point is a hell for the Foxes, since they both make It everybody's problem. At the end of It, even though the Foxes won, Kevin and Neil are both in a faul mood, to say the least.

Both are, honest to God, POUTING, with their arms crossed, glaring daggers at Wymack, who is asking every deity in existence for patience

Andrew looks at this scene, sighs heavily, turns to Wymack and says "I told you, they are like co-dependent guinea pigs. We are lucky neither collapsed out of sadness for not being togheter"

After that, they both have at least 5 minutes of guaranteed time to play togheter per game, but the Guinea pig joke becomes a thing among the Foxes

Andrew starts to say he is going to take Kevin and Neil for enrichment time at the enclosure whenever he is taking them both to night practice

Doomed siblings have me on a chokehold in a way no trope can ever achieve. Something so gut wrenchingly beautiful about two kids going through unimaginable trauma and coming out damaged forever. I always eat it up. Maybe they stay together and find solace only in each other, used and kicked out by society! Maybe they end up on opposite sides of the war! Maybe they end up betraying one another! Maybe one of them dies haunting the narrative forever! Maybe one of them destroys the world for the other! So many endless tragic possibilities!

Writers, do you ever write with pen/pencil and paper? If so, how often?

No, I never handwrite any part of my creative writing projects

I jot down occasional ideas so I don’t lose them

I sometimes plot/outline on paper

I often plot/outline on paper

I sometimes write excerpts/poems/chunks of my projects on paper

I often write excerpts/poems/chunks of my projects on paper

I almost always handwrite my most of my projects (at least the first draft)

Those of you that do use pen/pencil and paper for your creative writing projects, I would love to hear why you choose to do so and what the process looks like for you!

(I’m trying to figure out how to handwrite more so I can stop bringing my laptop with me when I travel)
