Headcannon about Gachiakuta characters reaction to MASKED! GIVER!reader's real face.
💖: Love interest
🐻❄️: Platonic (don't ask me why the polar bear, I just want an excuse to use it)
Warning:
- This is to all of the OCS that have a mask to cover their face, I won't go into too much detail of the mask or what's behind it, just pure BEAUTY, except that the mask is made of leather?
- Reader is also implied to have a backstory of being made fun of because of their face.
- English is not my first language, if I made any mistakes please let me know 💔.
- it's might be a bit OOC, sorry about that
- A bit swearing too
Featuring: Enjin and Zanka.
ENJIN. 💖
- I think he would probably see your face by accident.
- Don't get Enjin wrong, this guy is probably really curious what behind that mystery mask of yours, but he won't pry too much if you're uncomfortable about it, but he will tease you a few times.
- I think he will jokingly ask if you're ugly behind it to tease you tho when you both are comfortable enough of course but he will stop if you don't. His reaction is different depend on your answer.
- If you actually joke back? He will give you that smug smile and playfully nudge you with his elbow, it might become a playful panther between you two.
- But if you hesitate? And Looking away sadly? he will immediately shut his mouth, apologetic as hell as he scratches the back of his head. Yet his hand was fast to gently patting your back as a way to comfort you, and he won't joke like that again. He will even confront anyone and told them to back off if they made fun of you.
- But when he actually found out how you look behind the mask? This man was shocked. I think he is probably accidentally saw your face while you guys are on a mission together with the others.
The trash beast letting out a loud scream before disappeared after you sliced it in half, chest heaving as you stared down at the remain of the trash beast before wiping the sweat off your neck. Then sun is being too damn sunny today, the hot air make your face uncomfortable, especially under a layer of your leather mask.
You make a quick glance towards the other, noticing that they're pretty far away. Maybe wiping your face for a bit wouldn't be too bad? So you take out a small handkerchief from your pocket, gently pulling your mask up to wipe your sweaty face, it's felt a lot better, your face is no longer sticky, sweaty or humid after that, it was nice. You sigh in contentment and placed the handkerchief back, pulling your mask back to it original place. Then you turn your head, planning to head back but you were faced with a shocked Enjin instead. The expression on his face had already told you everything, he saw your face, you had assumed that he was with the other, you didn't notice that he had came over to check up on you.
- E-Enjin
You shutter, your voice sounded- scared, maybe you were, because you don't know how would he react. Back when you were young, things didn't end well whenever someone see your face, people laughed , they made fun of you just because of your face, calling you mean names, the scary adults gave you a disgusted stare some even with pitiful look like you were a broken doll, muttering words that you would rather choose not to remember. You didn't want Enjin to be disgusted by you- you didn't want to lost another friend just because of your ugly face-
- WHAT THE F- YOU'RE ACTUALLY PRETTY?!
Enjin said loudly, his jaw hanging in shock. While you're stuck with the negative thoughts, Enjin was processing and keep relaying the scene of you wiping your face gently with the handkerchief, the mask didn't pull up entirely but he could see your face, scars or not, you look... Beautiful, too beautiful. Your beautiful eyes? Your blushed cheeks due to the hot air? The way you still look so pretty with hair sticking onto your forehead, the way your full lips slightly agape to breath- okay Woah, let's back off a bit.
- Okay- you should have told me that your face are too beautiful to show- at least gave me a head up!
The blond said, trying to act cool even if he is flustered as hell. You both quickly to come to an agreement that this will be a secret between you too. He was still shock while driving back to the HQ tho, everybody was confused as hell.
- What up with him?
Rudo asked as he stared at the dumbfounded Enjin who is still processing his newfound feeling and information. Riyo just shrug, Gris raises a brow, Zanka was a bit concerned but brushed it of. And You? You're awfully quiet.
But I think after that incident, you both might grown closer because he had known the part that you had desperately tried to hide for so long and the fact that he isn't being judgy about it. But I think he would be smug as hell to know that he was one of the rare people that know your real face. I could image that he would be really smug when the conversation is about your secret face, you would be one of the most top 10 topics for the cleaners to talk about, usually Enjin wouldn't really care but now he probably have that 'I know something you don't and I won't tell you about it' energy whenever they talked about you.
- I wonder what [name] really look like behind that mask...
Riyo mutters as she glances at you standing nearby, talking to the other cleaners while Rudo also curiously look at you.
- Let's just say they're a goddamn beauty behind that mask.
Enjin said casually, looking at you with a smug smile while Riyo and Rudo stare at him in shock.
- what are you talking about? Did you see their face or something?
-... 😏
- Oi! How did you know?!
It was a fun game to Enjin. But to be truth, after that day, your face had been living rent free in his head, whenever he greet you in the HQ, he keep having flashback of that day. He closed his eyes? He saw your face, he spaced out just a moment? He saw your face, he is driving? He saw your face. It's kind of getting annoying, not that he hate your face it's just... He couldn't help but feel annoyed of how flustered he gets after he think about it.
Give this guy some times to think about it, okay? He didn't know he would fold that easily
ZANKA. 💖
- Well, it's also by accident but you were trying to protect him on the mission, accidentally having your mask slipped off
- I think he would be really curious about your hidden face but not to the point trying to solve the mystery, he will curiously think about it sometimes but usually he couldn't careless.
- Not to the point being heartless tho, he respects your privacy and doesn't want to pry too deep into it, everyone in the HQ have their own stories and secrets after all.
- When you both first met, he just raised a brow at the mask and talk to you normally and neutrally, unlike most who would gauge at you curiously until you explain about why you have a mask.
- But as you get closer? Well he still doesn't think much about the mask, unless somebody mentioned about it, he couldn't help but get curious too, you guys are friends and a part of him, silently wished that you would trust him enough to show your face to him someday, willingly of course.
- So image his reaction when he saw your face for the first time, it was unplanned, you blocked a blow for him but the hit had aimed at your face as you pushed him out of the way from a trash beast.
The trash beast wasn't as same as what had described in the paper, it was supposed to be an easy mission but it had quickly gone sideways. There's supposed to be only one trash Beast which you and Zanka had successfully beat but then out of nowhere a second one appeared, a different kind, bigger, faster and smarter too.
That damn thing waited for you both to tire out after beating the first one. It's then suddenly aimed at Zanka who had put his all into the first one, Zanka didn't have time to react when you suddenly pushed him out of the way instinctively, taking the blow for him instead. The beast's claw got caught into your mask, roughly yanked it off as you got pushed back by the blow, but it's also managed to injured you.
That blow isn't enough to knock you out but there's still blood dripping from your head, trailing like a river on your face but you couldn't careless, the Andreline pushing you to lock in.
Zanka and you professionally beat it, you both had worked with eachother for a while now to the point that your move matched with eachother. You're still pissed at the fact that the mission got dragged out longer then needed but you both managed to finish it with... Small amount of injuries.
You were breathing heavily, catching your breath as you watched the beast fading away. Zanka was also doing the same, he may look normal but his mind was a mess. Heck he got distracted the moment he saw your face, he was worried when he saw blood on your face but then he got distracted again by how hot you look- ahem, focus Zanka.
While fighting, he keep occasionally advert his gaze to your face instead of the trash beast, he couldn't help but scold himself everytime for that but his gaze still linger on your face nonetheless. Even now, as you both catch your breath.
You were a sight to behold, a beauty, your pretty eyes, the way your eyelashes flutter and close as you take a deep breath, lips agape. Heck, you look so hot when you focus on beating that trash beast too. Zanka couldn't help but turning away from you when his nonchalant mask slipped as he think about how cool you look while fighting, he couldn't help but be embarrassed at the fact that he noticed so many small things about your expression, the way your eyebrows furrowed, the way your jaw clenched, yea he will remember this to the day he die.
Zanka then saw your almost half ruined mask laying on the ground, he quickly retrieve it, feeling guilty that it's almost ruined now. Zanka then turn to look at you, his hands gently cradling the half ruined mask like it was something fragile.
- Hey... I'm sorry about the mask, we could get August to fix it after we get back to the HQ...
Zanka said, trying his best not to stare at your face, yet he is already got all of your face features carved into his mind. He couldn't help but get even more curious... What will your face look like when you smile? Worried? Curious? Sad... Well don't get him wrong, he doesn't want you to be sad, he just... Want to see how your face would look like, just curious that all but he much prefer if you smile at him.
- Oh- it's okay, I'm glad that you're alright...
You said hesitantly as you take the mask, your hands shake slightly as you held it in your hands, your head slightly tilted forward, hiding your face from view to Zanka's dismay.
- I'm sorry...
You suddenly said which immediately caught Zanka off guards.
- Huh-? What're ya-
- It's must have been... Ugly, I'm not quite a pleasant sight, huh?
You said sadly and eyes cast down onto the ground while Zanka stared at you, eyes wide and shocked. Like what the hell are you talking about? He should be thanking you for showing him that a person could actually look that pretty, and again, with scars or not you look absolutely beautiful.
- What- what are ya talking about...? Ya look... Pretty
Zanka couldn't help but go red at his own words, his voice shutter a bit as he speak. He got even redder when you tilted your head back up to look at him, his hand awkwardly scratching the back of his neck. You immediately looked at him in shock, then your face got red too.
- I-
You don't know what to say, people never acted this nice with you before especially when they saw your real face, your hands unconsciously clenched around the mask, feeling rather overwhelmed with this newfound feeling but you couldn't help but smiled.
- Thank you-
You said softly but then your voice suddenly got cut off by a nearby supporter.
- Hey- are you guys alright?! You took quite a blow there [Name]- huh?
-...? Well I guess that you both are alright? Let's hurry up and get back! We need to get you both check up
The supporter immediately froze when he approached both you and Zanka, instead of seeing your usual your mask, your face was covered by an empty cardboard box instead.
Out of panic while you were trying to put your mask back which immediately failed because it couldn't keep intact anymore, Zanka panicked too and found a nearby cardboard which he quickly used to cover your face.
The supporter give both you and Zanka one weird look before walking away, confused as hell, because why the heck are you having trash on your head?
- Zanka... I can't see
You said awkwardly, hands still holding the ruined mask but then you suddenly feel a warm hand gently holding yours, too gently, like he was scared to hold your hand but at the same time, he wanted to. His hand, now holding on of yours, it was a bit bigger then you and the feeling of his hand engulfed yours? You can't help but feel safe...
- Come on...
Zanka mutters as he slowly walk with you back to the group, if it wasn't for the box, you would have seen how red his face is.
You guys actually hold hands the entire way home, fingers gently rested on eachother as you stayed silent.
It's might be a bit awkward after that day, you had asked Zanka to not tell anyone of your face which he is quite confused because why are you hiding that pretty face? Or maybe... You're too pretty?! And then you might attract some unwanted attention?! Damn he didn't think it like that, you're so wise [name]!
------------------------
The truth is, you just doesn't want more people to know about your face... The trauma from your childhood still haunt you after all.
Zanka will take it really seriously when it's come to protecting your secret, he won't tell a soul, heck he might snap at people just because they tried to pry too much about your privacy, no one knows that he had seen your face and he prefers to keep it that way. But that doesn't mean he will forgot about it entirely.
There will be time Zanka found himself staring at your fixed mask, heck, he miss your face already. You could occasionally feel the lingering gaze from Zanka, the poor guy was sulking like he just lost something precious.
Everyone noticed of course.
- What up with him?
Rudo asks as he stared at Zanka who is staring at your back while you're preparing something by the kitchen. Rudo had never seen Zanka like that before... Why is he staring at you like that??
Riyo just hums as she glances at Zanka who immediately perk up when you sit across from him, talking about something and giggle quietly. Zanka looked pleased when you talk but there's still a hint of longing in his eyes as he stared at your mask, like he is begging you to show him something.
- Everyone is so weird around them...
Riyo couldn't help but mutter as she stared at both you and Zanka.
Damn, I didn't think I would yap this much💔 I was planning to write more but I got lazy half way and I don't know what I'm writing anymore. It's not good but I hope you guys like it?
It's actually my first time getting into writing, the writers on this app really inspire me a lot.

ATHLETE!FOLLO ... who kisses a photo of you before every game and practice, swearing up and down it gives him extra good luck. he’ll linger in the locker room just a little longer than everyone else, waiting until his teammates are all gone to pull out a small, crinkled polaroid picture of you he keeps in his sports bag. you’re smiling brightly—teeth and all—and your happy expression fills him with so much warmth and gaiety feelings, he can’t help but feel super hyped up. he feels like a giddy schoolboy when he puts the photo away, a huge smile on his dorky face when he runs out of the locker room. even though you gave him that photo yourself, he can’t help but feel like a little creep for bringing it everywhere with him… but thats him overthinking everything again. his little ritual gives him the motivation he needs to do his best on the court—just for you.
ATHLETE!FOLLO ... who seeks you out straight away when he's stressed. having off days isn't a rare occurrence for follo, but it doesn't happen too often either. so when he does have an extra hand day—say he didn't do well at practice—he shuts down pretty much entirely. follo goes to you because you know how to ground him. you remind him to think realistically while giving him the comfort he needs, which he appreciates to a whole other level. everyone has tough days, and he shouldn't be so hard on himself if he's in a funk.
ATHLETE!FOLLO ... who gets extremely flustered when you come to his games to cheer him on. especially if you have his jersey number anywhere on you. it's like... you freed up your already busy schedule to come to his game!? to support him!? and you're showing it so openly that you're here for HIM!? he melts instantly. he tries not to let it get to him during his game, but he can't help but feel his cheeks heat up whenever he thinks about it. what did he ever do to deserve you—you're so great and supportive, he could seriously cry!! after the game is over, he goes to find you almost immediately (after celebrating with his team first, though). whether he won or lost that night doesn't matter, because your encouragement is all he needs!
ATHLETE!FOLLO ... that loves when you play basketball with him. seeing you put in the effort into getting to know the things he's passionate about boosts his love for you by tenfold. one of his favourite things to do with you is play in an empty gym by yourselves, aimlessly talking and giggling while shooting hoops. he really does love to see you talk and smile. <3
Blog 18: Money & Healthcare: Creating a Culture of Moral Injury Amongst Healthcare Professionals?
There is a moment in healthcare that most clinicians recognize but rarely name. It doesn’t happen during a code or a high-stakes procedure. It happens quietly, often in ordinary encounters, when you know exactly what a patient needs, and at the same time, you know they are not going to receive it. Not because the treatment does not exist, and not because you lack the knowledge or skill to provide it, but because of cost. That moment, subtle and often unspoken, is where the intersection of money and healthcare begins to reveal itself not just as a logistical issue, but as an ethical one.
The United States spends more on healthcare than any other nation in the world, exceeding $4.5 trillion annually, which breaks down to approximately $13,000 per person each year. Despite this, outcomes remain inconsistent, and in many cases, inequitable. Comparative analyses by organizations like the Commonwealth Fund consistently rank the U.S. among the lowest-performing high-income countries in areas such as access, equity, and overall health outcomes. At the patient level, the data becomes even more telling: nearly one in three adults report delaying or skipping care due to cost, and an estimated 100 million Americans carry some form of medical debt. These numbers are not abstract, they translate directly into lived experiences of untreated conditions, worsening disease progression, and preventable suffering.
This is where the ethical tension begins to take shape. Healthcare is grounded in principles such as beneficence, nonmaleficence, and justice. Providers are trained to act in the best interest of patients, to avoid harm, and to deliver care fairly. Yet financial barriers disrupt each of these principles in tangible ways. When a patient cannot afford insulin, harm occurs. When insurance limitations dictate early discharge or restrict access to diagnostics, the standard of care is altered. When follow-up care is inaccessible due to cost, continuity is broken. In these moments, clinicians are not choosing to act unethically, but they are often forced to participate in systems that produce ethically troubling outcomes.
This repeated exposure to ethical conflict contributes to what is increasingly described as moral injury. While burnout is often framed as emotional exhaustion or fatigue, moral injury is more specific and, in many ways, more profound. It occurs when individuals are placed in situations where they must act in ways that conflict with their core professional and ethical values. In healthcare, this might look like discharging a patient who does not feel safe to go home, knowing a treatment exists but is financially inaccessible, or being pressured to prioritize efficiency and productivity over individualized patient care. Research suggests that a significant proportion of what has traditionally been labeled as burnout among clinicians may, in fact, be unrecognized moral injury, particularly as these experiences accumulate over time.
What makes this dynamic particularly complex is that the system itself rarely presents these dilemmas as overt ethical violations. Instead, they are embedded in routine processes and institutional norms. Decisions are framed in terms of insurance approvals, policy limitations, or resource allocation. Over time, clinicians may find themselves adapting, learning how to navigate within these constraints, recalibrating expectations, and, in some cases, normalizing situations that once felt deeply uncomfortable. However, adaptation does not equate to resolution. The internal dissonance often remains, manifesting as frustration, disengagement, or a quiet sense of complicity in outcomes that feel misaligned with one’s professional purpose.
From a personal standpoint, these moments are often the most difficult to articulate yet the most impactful to experience. There is a distinct weight that comes with recognizing the gap between what should happen and what realistically will happen. I have encountered patients who delayed seeking care until their conditions became emergent, not due to negligence, but because of financial constraints. I have witnessed individuals forced to choose between essential medications and basic necessities like food. Patients who really need to be in the emergency room delay due to fear of an ambulance bill. There have been conversations where the most appropriate clinical option was not even meaningfully considered, because cost had already determined the course of action. In these situations, the challenge is not a lack of knowledge or clinical competence, but the inability to translate that knowledge into action.
Framing this issue as an ethical problem requires shifting the focus away from individual decision-making and toward systemic structure. This is not primarily about clinicians failing to uphold ethical standards; rather, it is about a healthcare system that consistently places providers in positions where ethical ideals and practical realities are misaligned. When access to care is contingent upon financial means, the principle of justice is inherently compromised. Disparities in outcomes become predictable rather than exceptional, and clinicians are left to navigate the resulting consequences at the bedside.
The implications of this extend beyond individual patient encounters. When moral injury becomes a routine part of clinical practice, it has the potential to reshape professional identity, influence retention, and alter the culture of care delivery itself. Providers may begin to disengage, not out of apathy, but as a protective response to ongoing ethical strain. This, in turn, can affect patient relationships, team dynamics, and overall quality of care. In this sense, the impact of financially driven limitations in healthcare is not confined to patients alone; it reverberates throughout the entire system.
Addressing this issue requires more than individual resilience or coping strategies. While self-care and support systems are important, they do not resolve the underlying structural tensions that give rise to moral injury. Meaningful change would involve examining how healthcare is financed, how resources are allocated, and how policies shape clinical decision-making. It also requires creating spaces where clinicians can openly discuss ethical challenges without stigma, and where advocacy for patients is supported rather than constrained.
Ultimately, the question is not simply whether money influences healthcare, it clearly does, but whether the extent and manner in which it does so is ethically justifiable. When clinicians repeatedly encounter situations where they know the right course of action but are unable to pursue it, the issue moves beyond economics into the realm of moral consequence. The most difficult aspect is not uncertainty about what should be done, but the recognition that, in many cases, it cannot be done within the current system.
If these patterns continue, moral injury may become less of an exception and more of an expectation within healthcare professions. This raises a broader concern about sustainability, not only of the system itself, but of the individuals working within it. A system that consistently asks its providers to operate in conflict with their ethical foundations risks eroding the very values upon which healthcare is built. The question that remains is not only how to fix the system, but how long it can function in its current state before the cumulative weight of these conflicts demands a more fundamental transformation.
