Do you ever think about Xie Lian's canonical bloodlust? It's mentioned in the Land of the Tender chapter that the two urges that Xie Lian is repressing are the urge to fuck and the urge to kill.
Xie Lian is so so intriguing because, like, he doesn’t like to kill, but he will. He’s good at it, he’s a killing machine, and you know, he like hates that and the fact that he has all these killer instincts and has felt like the glory fatigue of being in battle, we were honestly really deprived by the quests Xie Lian kept going on because they were mostly ghost hunts where he wanted to act rationally and figure things out. After all, he has a lot of respect for ghosts, kinda wish he got his own Xuanwu of Slaughter, you know, just to really let loose. I imagine post canon him just jumping at the opportunity to fight something like that, no reason, no politics, just a powerful demon and Xie Lian with a sword. I think he grins while he kills it, and of course, he doesn’t get a speck of blood on him.
Hua Cheng, who was of course there the whole time, definitely smells it in the air, and idk which one of them would tackle the other first because Xie Lian is still buzzing from his kill but Hua Cheng is Hua Cheng, and you know he’s shaking, wanting, and full of praise.
They are definitely going to fuck beside a monster's corpse because they are freaks that can’t contain themselves, and sure, Hua Cheng could transport them somewhere, he really should because his highness deserves nice things, but fuck, there’s blood in the air and on Xie Lian’s sword, and his eyes are still glinting with a killer's instinct and Hua Cheng NEEDS one of his geges swords in him rn. He m doesn’t even care which one, because HE NEEDS to be destroyed like Xie Lian destroyed that monster ASAP.

Xie Lian is just all in all losing it, I think, he so rarely lets loose and he’s all teeth and want and he’s not gentle and he should be gentle for his San Lang. It’s just every time he breathes the scent of irons in the air and Hua Cheng is bigger than him and has ghostly Qi and all his instincts are crossed rn and he needs to defeat Hua Cheng even though he’s no threat Xie Lian’s blood is still singing with the need to fight and to fuck and to win.
