“It seemed like a good idea, at least! I like Nightmare Before Christmas, at least so the concept seemed solid enough.” Balo just really was craving Christmas lately, it was the holiday that made her happiest, the one holiday her mother actually seemed to be happy during, one day where the turmoil of the Driskell house was easily swept under the rug for a few hours. “Really? I would love that! I really trust your judgment when it comes to the Halloween side of things too. You tend to be better at these things then I am.” She tried to, of course, but dark and scary really wasn’t her area of expertise. She was better suited for the cheerful, happy stuff.
Avery would be a perfect partner for decorating this tree, come to think of it. She should have thought of it sooner.
She nods when the brunette echos the thought she just had. “I wish I had thought of it, you’d be the perfect person to help me with this! You’re way better with darker things then I am. If you feel like grabbing stuff to add to it at some point, I’d welcome the help.” She was very well aware a good part of the appeal of Halloween was a good fright, something she was a bit too jumpy to appreciate for the most part. She loved dressing up and the candy, but she could only guess and try so hard to make the scary part of the tree actually spooky. She had no issues with admitting to that fact either. “I’ve heard that it’s a really big eating holiday, I’m glad people get to enjoy it!” She probably wouldn’t be happy if her family suddenly started celebrating it seriously, given it sounded like the exact opposite of a holiday she’d enjoy, but she was happy that other people got the chance to do something they loved with the people they cared about. “Thank you, Avery. I appreciate it!” While she truly hoped there would be no need to punch anybody, the fact she had someone in her corner for this was something she truly was grateful for.
☆゚*·゚GRINNING BRIGHTLY, AVERY couldn’t help the happiness she felt from knowing she was being complimented on her love of everything Halloween and everything dark. If you walked into her dorm, you’d know exactly what she was into and Avery, she was the definition of gothic punk and she was proud of it. “Hell yeah, I don’t usually get to decorate public places. Apparently I’m too dark for most people,” she explained, trying not to laugh. She walked over to the decorations, starting to look through them, thinking about how she could decorate. “The best way I think you’re going to combine the two is to create a lot of creepy and funky trees that look like monsters could live in them, a lot of black and spider webs,” she explained, picturing it all in her head.
There were some items she had at home that she’d been wanting to put up somewhere and planned on getting it later to add it to the decorations. “I pride myself on being dark. My mother however, wanted the opposite and tried to dress me up in pink dresses as a kid. I still have nightmares about those outfits,” Avery explained, shuddering very visibly. Now that she thought about it, an incredible Halloween costume would be to dress up like a girly doll that’d been attacked. That way, she could put fake blood all over the dress and look like a zombie. As she pulled out lights and spider webs, starting to separate them, she looked up at Balo with a smile, “What are you planning on dressing up as this year?”
Her stomach rumbled at the thought of an incredible thanksgiving dinner and now, she wanted all of it, perhaps on a sandwich. “I’ll have to learn to cook all of this and make you a thanksgiving dinner. I think you’ll enjoy it. And on that day, no one can judge you for eating so much. Honestly, that’s the best part,” Avery stated, laughing.
