Three months ago, the plan was clear. Restore the manor to create a headquarters for the team, strengthen Earth's defenses by reaching out to possible recruits, and gather all the information and resources necessary to prepare for Darkseid's arrival. It was a daunting task, the severity of the threat meaning at no point could the Justice League grow too comfortable or confident of their preparations. Still, it was one enemy, one battle to get ready for, one problem to solve. In only three months, the stakes completely changed, and the lack of answers as to why only managing to worsen the situation. Now, the attention of the team was being pulled in various directions, and that meant they couldn't afford wasting time.
Hazel eyes shifted away from the computers when the brunette entered the room, the corner of Bruce's lips lifting up slightly for a moment when Diana offered him a smile. "I am resting, Miss Prince," he argued. "Setting up and making sure the surveillance network functions properly is quite relaxing." And if Alfred was going to complain about his patrol schedule, then he couldn't complain about what Bruce chose to do during his 'downtime'.
The billionaire did agree with one thing though--it was getting late. "I would also argue I'm not the one with a job to get to in eight hours."
“okay, two blocks that way you’ll find one of the aid centres set up to help out the new arrivals. i promise they’ll help you find a safe place to live, get you some food and clothes so you can take a minute to figure it all out.” it doesn’t fix it, but at the very least dick can see the relief on their face as they offer him a shaky thanks and head down the street. thank god bruce acted so quickly. letting out a sigh as he watches them leave, dick crosses his arms over his chest. it’s just gonna keep coming, isn’t it? how long until these people actually settle here, or find a way home? letting out a sigh, he turns to his company. “sorry - there’s so many people around here trying to figure things out, the sooner we can get them to the aid centres the better.”
-
After changing into a more casual attire, Bruce left the Wayne Enterprises building, deciding to walk to the nearest aid center that’d been set up in Gotham City. He wanted to make sure the recent urgent supplies request had already arrived, and see if there was anything else Doctor Thompkins needed. But on his way there, Bruce spotted his son and changed directions, their greeting cut short when someone else walked up to them. The older man remained silent, brows furrowing as he observed the exchange between Dick and the apparent new arrival. To think Bruce had dared to believe they would be able to have some peace after defeating Steppenwolf.
"For now, that's all we can do." With limited information and the fact the other worlds were left in a state of destruction, neither the new arrivals or the locals had many options to consider. With a sigh, Bruce turned to Dick. "How are things in Blüdhaven?"
Walking through Gotham City still felt surreal—even if walking down any street felt that way as of late. True to the way he was raised, Clark Kent still managed to muster up a charismatic smile as he allowed someone else to take the taxi he had hailed.
By the time Clark finally made it to the Wayne Manor, the Sun had begun to set. He paused for a moment to take in the last bit of sunlight before knocking at the door…. that Alfred immediately opened for him. After a quick exchange of pleasantries, Clark allowed his senses to guide him towards Bruce, a smile spreading across his features as the billionaire came into view. “I do have a cellphone nowadays, Bruce… It wouldn’t kill you to call and ask me how I’m doing,” the Kryptonian teased. “Using that little communicator thing you made us… makes it seem everything it’s a life or death situation.”
-
Bruce was working on the security network of the manor when he heard Alfred answer the front door, announcing Clark had finally arrived. The billionaire continued his task, not bothering to turn around when the Kryptonian walked into the office. "That would suggest I was interested in a social call," Bruce replied casually, tightening one of the bolts of the control council on the wall before continuing. "Besides, I assume if you truly perceived the message as a life or death situation, you wouldn't be this late."
To many others, the words could have easily been considered rude or even insulting. However, those who knew Bruce would have seen right through his deadpan expression and guarded demeanor, the lightness in his tone giving away everything his features were too well trained to hide. It was difficult to explain how exactly they had gotten to this point, being comfortable with each other and able to rely on one another. Difficult to explain how Bruce had gone from wanting to end Clark's life, to fully trusting the Kryptonian with his own.
Trust had always been a complicated concept for the vigilante, years of self imposed isolation doing nothing to better his paranoia and cynicism. However, Clark's sacrifice and friendship awakened something within Bruce, returning to him something tragedy ripped away years before. Without trying, and without even noticing, Clark had given Bruce hope. And in those times, Hope was needed more than ever.
Bruce turned and took the tablet that was sitting on the large wooden desk, offering the device to Clark after opening a document. "The amount of time the portals stay open remains the same, but the frequency of their appearance continues to rise. One of the aid centers in Gotham is already at capacity, and Metropolis isn't faring much better." He paused. "Has the Daily Planet found any new leads?"

BIOGRAPHY

Born into the well respected and wealthy Wayne family, Bruce had an idyllic childhood full of affection and comfort.
That changed when he witnessed the violent murder of his parents at the age of 10, promising to dedicate his life to battling the criminal element that took them from him.
Left Gotham at the age of 15, training extensively to achieve mental and physical perfection, in addition to mastering martial arts, detective techniques, and criminal psychology.
Returned to Gotham at 22, taking up the mantle of Batman a year later to fight crime with the aid of specialized gadgets and vehicles he himself constructed.
Gained the trust and respect of the GCPD, Commissioner Gordon becoming one of his strongest and most loyal allies.
After watching the same tragedy befall on him, Bruce sought out to help Dick Grayson, offering to adopt him when he realized the horrible conditions the child was being forced to live in within the system. When Dick found out Batman's identity, Bruce agreed to train him, becoming the dynamic duo known as Batman and Robin.
Bruce met other crime fighters through the years, working alongside them but never truly coming to fully trust them. Barbara Gordon was the second to join his and Robin’s efforts in Gotham, fighting alongside them as Batgirl.
After the child attempted to steal the wheels of the batmobile, Bruce began to look after Jason Todd, adopting him and training him to be the second Robin.
The murder of Jason was the first that fully destroyed the sense of stability Bruce had built since the death of his parents. He became extremely violent, having no concern for the well being of criminals or his own, pushing those he had left away and isolating himself.
His mental state only worsen after the destruction of Metropolis during the Black Zero Event, developing a hatred towards Superman that was fueled further by the manipulations of Lex Luthor. Bruce’s fear and rage would boil over when he exchanged blows with Superman, using his resources to not only match his strength, but counter the powers and even weaken him with kryptonite he had stolen from LexCorp.
However, Bruce would ultimately realize the error of his ways, and allied himself with Superman to save Martha Kent from Luthor’s men. The two were later joined by Wonder Woman to defeat Doomsday, the Kryptonian behemoth Lex Luthor created; though the battle cost Superman his life.
In the following year, Bruce learned of an impending threat coming to Earth. Meeting with Diana Prince, Bruce relayed his findings but discovered that his suspicions had already been confirmed, as Steppenwolf had already arrived. Bruce then decided to recruit other meta-humans to protect their planet, realizing that an attack was imminent.
With the formation of the Justice League, Bruce orchestrated a plan to resurrect Superman by utilizing the power of a Mother Box to jump-start the hero's regeneration process and revive him. With the team now fully established, the Justice League led a successful offensive against Steppenwolf, defeating the latter's invasion and sending a message to Darkseid.
He was warned Darkseid was not done with Earth, Bruce beginning to prepare to face off the New God. The collision of the dimensions however was not something he was prepared for, his focus now having to be divided between finding out who the new comers are and what are their intentions, and getting ready for when Darkseid arrives.
