SHIKON ABILITY SHOWCASE

This week’s showcase focuses on Abi’s arrows! Being a skilled archer who can imbue her arrows with many different types of magic makes Abi a force to be reckoned with. She can decimate her foes on the battlefield from a distance with such ease that, more often then not, her opponents never even see what’s coming until it’s too late. (Though she doesn’t look too pleased at the lack of a challenge ^^) Ps. I know we have been off our game lately. (Everyone has seriously been so busy, BUT WE SHALL RETURN. HELLO EVERYONE!!! I know it’s been a while, so let’s hit the ground running! It’s time for another Meet That Character Monday!

Today’s lovely new character is known as Rae!

Rae is a Gypsy (not in the sense of being of Romani descent, but more in the sense of being a nomadic free-spirit) with a compassionate heart.

Rae is very intuitive and has a deep connection to the energies of the earth. It is this intuition that makes her an excellent charm and hex caster.

Rae’s fighting style is a combination of using various types of magic stored inside crystals she carries on her person, and afflicting her enemies with hex’s while simultaneously boosting her abilities with charms. She also wields two crystal daggers that she’s quite proficient with.

In addition to her offensive capabilities, Rae is also skilled in healing magic and can erect magic Barriers to fend off attacks. She’s a real Jack-of-all-trades!

Fun Fact: Rae has a soft spot for a certain “Demonic-armor clad-warrior” ^^

Today on “Meet That Character Monday”: the world of Shikon proudly presents Abi, aka “The Black Cat”.

Stoic and task-oriented, Abi serves as the point-man and final member of the Cardinals. She often acts as the tactician/strategist of the cardinals and ensures that whatever mission they take on is completed as efficiently as possible.

This however leaves Abi with a rather cold disposition when completing missions. She will do whatever must be done to ensure the success of her mission. Anyone that gets in her way is an obstacle, and must be eliminated.

She hails from the southern lands of Rosenvall (more specifically In the jungle-like Terre Forest) and belongs to a demon tribe known as the Pantheans. (Demons of feline variety, they posses sharp claws and powerful legs)

Abi is highly adept with a bow and arrow. She is an amazing markswoman and is also able to craft arrows out of different types of magic each yielding a different effect upon striking an enemy.

Her speed and agility is unmatched by most. She is the fastest member of the cardinals.

She earned her moniker “The Black Cat” not because of the color of her hair, which is quite obviously brown, but because of the infamous bad luck she is said to bring (more often upon others than herself) wherever she travels.

Fun fact: Abi’s legs are super strong even amongst panthean standards.

Bonus fun fact: Abi is also a notorious haggler.

Bonus Not-so-fun fact: Abi absolutely detests royals and nobles alike due to being a former slave. (Her cruel Master was royalty)

SHIKON ABILITY SHOWCASE

For today’s Ability Showcase we’ll be focusing on the sound-wave technique, utilized by Zeresh, known as the “Dark cacophony”.

This technique works by Zeresh releasing an eerie sound-wave from his mouth. Anyone caught within hearing range of the technique is affected.

The closer an opponent is to Zeresh, the more nauseating the sound is to them. For example those within the immediate vicinity of Zeresh may pass out due to an assault on their sense of balance, eyesight, and hearing. Whereas those farther away from him may simply experience a painful ringing in their ears.

WORLD KNOWLEDGE WEDNSDAY #3 Zeresh's Armor

In light of our most recent character reveal I think it'd be nice to focus a little more on Zeresh's armor and how it functions. Firstly Zeresh's armor is rather unique since it is metallic in nature without actually being made of any real metal. It is in fact a physical manifestation of his very willpower and desire to control his inner demon. It accomplishes this goal by channeling Zeresh's "rage" into energy that he can expel from his body in various ways. It should be noted that if Zeresh does not expel the energy then it will build up within his body and consume him; sending him into a berserker state. (While in the berserker state the "monster" takes full control over Zeresh's body and will go on a rampage destroying all in its wake. It is for this reason that Zeresh became a mercenary in the first place. Participating in wars provides him the perfect outlet to releasing his "rage"). The armor is also self repairing in the event that something is strong enough to actually break it. Fun fact: The eye located in the center of Zeresh's armor seems to actually be alive and will often move about and peer at things. Whether or not Zeresh is aware of what the eye is seeing is a mystery. That's all for today guys. Check back in with us next week for another bit of World knowledge. Today’s main focus of Meet That Character Monday is none other than the third of our four main protagonists, Zeresh! aka “The Demon of the North”. (Despite his moniker he is actually human)

Descending from the Northern lands of Crusav; Zeresh is, at first glance, a monster of a man sealed away inside of a magical suit of armor. This however, is not the full-story. 

Though Zeresh may look big and scary on the outside, underneath all of that armor lies a man who simply wishes to not be alone in this world. Plagued by an inner-evil obsessed with animosity and destruction; Zeresh’s personality has become somewhat split between “The Man” and “The Monster”. 

It was this very Inner-Monster that caused Zeresh to lock himself away from the world in the suit of armor in an effort to control his ever-growing rage. (The armor is magically crafted from Zeresh’s own willpower). 

As a Member of the Cardinals (the name given to our four main protagonists, as each hails from a different cardinal direction) Zeresh functions best as a tank. His armor is amazingly durable and gives him the best defense amongst the four, while at the same time leaving him with the lowest speed. However, his speed is rarely a problem as his armor ensures that no matter how slow he moves, or how much damage he takes, he will eventually reach his target. 

Zeresh also packs more than just defense. In terms of offense he wields a large great sword with relative ease. He can also focus his rage and energy into destructive blasts. It should also be noted that Zeresh is the only member of the Cardinals to make use of sound as a weapon; being able to release a horrific cacophony that disorients all within range of the noise. 

Fun Fact: Zeresh looks scary but he’s actually a terrible goofball when you get to know him.

Bonus Fun Fact: He has a huge (and  rather comedic) rivalry with Ena. Their relationship is that of an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object.

It’s time for another Ability Showcase Thursday! in accordance with our reveal of Nell, it’s only fair that we focus on one of his abilities.

Today we’re focusing on Nell’s soul link magic. Soul-linking is when Nell empathetically links himself to the soul of another person.

This allows Nell to borrow some of the recipient’s power and abilities in various ways. As shown above, When Nell soul-links with Ena, he can borrow some of her strength and coat his sword in dragonflames.

Fun fact: When soul-linking with another, Nell will take on some of their physical characteristics and personality traits. (With Ena he becomes much more rowdy, and boisterous. And his hair gets kinda frizzy.)

WORLD KNOWLEDGE WEDNESDAY #2 - Magic and Mana

Today marks our second World Knowledge Post, and In light of our most recent character reveal, I thought it would be fitting to introduce the different types of magic. As well as the definitions of what Magic and Mana are.

Mana - Is the innate universal energy given off by all things.

Magic - The art or science (depending on how you look at it) of harnessing mana and channeling it in different ways to achieve different effects/desired results.

There are many different types of magic that are unique to certain characters, so Today we’ll only be detailing basic types of magic that everyone can learn.

Elementalist Magic - Magic centered around conjuring and wielding different types of Elements (fire, water, earth, wind, lightning, light, darkness, and spirit, etc.)

Barrier Magic - self explanatory

Healing magic - self explanatory

Augmentation Magic - using mana to bolster physical capabilities (increasing speed, stamina, strength, and other various effects.)

Alchemy - A type of magic centered around transforming or changing something by magically breaking down and reorganizing its molecular structure. It is a very complex form of magic and very few have what it takes to master this ability.

This week on “Meet That Character Monday” - We introduce Nell, Aka “The Soul Stealer”. 

Hailing from the eastern lands of Kenrikia is the second of our four main Protagonists. Nell may look human at first glance, but he’s actually a lunar spirit who has existed for quite some time (He’s centuries old). Nell maintains and exudes an aura of comfort and serenity, and can be seen as the peacekeeper amongst our band of protagonists; often soothing tensions (both serious and comedic) amongst the group.

Nell’s preferred weapon is a Magical Katana crafted from the pieces of 3 different souls (exactly which 3 souls will be explained later) The Blade’s name is Kaguya. Nell is also a master of magic, as being a spirit, his very body is made of Mana (Magical energy). Nell’s greatest magical asset is his ability to link his soul with others, and in doing so, borrowing some of their power/abilities. (This also results in Nell taking on some of the recipient’s personality traits) This technique is aptly named “Soul-Link”.

Rumors say that those cut down by the blade Kaguya have their souls swallowed by Nell. This has earned him the moniker “Soul Stealer”.

Fun Fact: Nell actually has tattoos spanning his entire body, but they are only visible in moonlight.

Bonus Fun Fact: Nell is almost always mistaken for a woman, much to the amusement of the other characters.

Today marks our very first “Ability showcase”! These will have fun little depictions of some of the powers and abilities you’ll encounter in the world of Shikon. As not all the characters have been revealed yet, today we’ll focus on Ena.

Today’s ability - Ena’s flame breath!

Being half dragon has gifted Ena with the ability to breath fire. Dragon flames burn hotter than normal fire, so anyone hit by these flames is in for some real pain.

Fun fact - Ena has a tendency to Scream or Roar whenever she breaths fire. This has earned her the moniker of “The howling flame”

Our very first - "World Knowledge" Wednesday

Hello kiddies! 😋 In accordance with our updating schedule I bring you, our first ever, World Knowledge Wednesday.

Today’s topic - The different races found in the world of Shikon!

Humans - Have the highest population in the world of Shikon. Physically the weakest race. However they can use magic to bolster their abilities in various ways. Typically rely on outnumbering opponents. Though, as with most things, there are exceptions. Humans should not be underestimated. (Typical lifespan - 100 yrs. Anything pass that and you’re either really healthy or really lucky)

Giants - Beings who are pretty much the same as humans with a few key differences. They are larger than humans (A typical giant is about 12 ft. Tall), and as such are much more physically powerful. Most are not as adept with magic. They live twice as long as humans. They reside in the northern kingdom known as Lux. (Typical lifespan - 200 yrs.)

Demons - Magical beings that largely look out for themselves and their own people. They are crafty beings whose appearances can range from humanoid to bestial and, more often then not, will fall somewhere in between. They are mostly native to the eastern lands of Shikon known as Kenrikai. (Though a few tribes inhabit other areas throughout the world of Shikon) (Typical lifespan - immortal)

Angels - Magical humanoid beings with beautiful white wings. They are benevolent and kind, and are a largely peaceful race. They treat magic as a science and have studied it throughout the ages. They have the most powerful defensive-type magics (examples being, healing and barrier magic) and are even responsible for creating the magical practice of alchemy. They are native to the western lands of Shikon known as Faerina. (Typical lifespan - immortal)

Fairies - An all-female race of magical beings. In the past fairies dedicated their time and magical energy to protecting and healing the land (that is to say the earth and nature itself). After a Great War known only as the “Cataclysmic Era” the fae people suffered immensely, and as a result they make up the lowest population in the current world of Shikon. (Only two known Fairies still exist). (Typical lifespan - immortal)

Dragons - a very proud race of magical beings. The draconian people exude power and strength. It is for this reason that they typically detest any and all weakness. They share a mutual hatred with humans that is the result of the “Cataclysmic Era”. (This is the reason why children born of mixed dragon and human blood are looked upon with disdain). Dragons have become the stuff of legends in Shikon, due to the fact that after the Cataclysmic Era they cut themselves off from the world and have chosen to reside on a secluded floating island in the sky that none have been able to locate. The island has become known as, the Dragon Haven, Bandari. (Typical lifespan - 1000 years)

Golems - Magical Humanoid-stone beings who vary in shape and size. They have loyally respected and served the draconian people throughout the passage of time. As such they too respect and value strength, and it is for this reason that the strongest golem is named their leader. They reside in an enormous mountain that is said to be the key to locating the Dragon Haven that is Bandari. (Typical lifespan - 1000’s of yrs.)

Sprites - Whimsical magical beings who are living flora and fauna. The sprites are a typically diminutive race. (Average height being about 2’-3’ feet tall) They are a very peaceful race who are also excellent farmers and masters of agriculture. They reside mostly in the forest kingdom of Dalos. (Typical lifespan - 1000 yrs.)

Spirits - Mystical beings who are living mana (magical energy). They possess immensely powerful magic and are often shrouded in mystery. (Typical lifespan - immortal)

*Note - To clear up any confusion, any race that is marked as immortal is not invincible. They will not die from aging, so they could potentially live long lives, but they can still be killed/destroyed.

Our very first “Meet that Character Monday” - Ena, Aka “The howling flame”

Half-human, half-dragon. Mortal on her mother’s side. Ena can be viewed as the leader of the 4 main characters of Shikon. Fiercely loyal and protective with a strong moral compass, while at times a little rough around the edges, Ena always tries to fight for what’s right.

Weapon of choice, you ask?

“Good ole lefty and Mr. Right! *cracks knuckles*” coupled with raging dragon flames straight from her fanged jaws.

She earned her epitaph on the battlefield due to her tendency to roar and shout while crushing everything in her path.

Bonus: She has a mock-rivalry with one of the other 3 main characters later to come.

Welcome to the world of Shikon!

Shikon is a story that started out as a dream and ended up becoming an entire world. With a conglomeration of dragons, demons, fairies, monsters, and various other creatures of the sort, the tale of Shikon follows four mismatched souls on their journey to serve and protect their home and the people they love. Adventure is around every corner, and friendship is the emphasis as these four join forces to become an unlikely team.

Mondays - Meet that character - Character art will be uploaded along with a brief personality description and (if necessary) the inspiration behind the character

Tuesdays - Asks - General questions will be answered during this time

Wednesdays - World knowledge - Descriptions of different types of species/animals/places/cultural differences/etc. will be touched upon

Thursdays - Ability showcase - A more in-depth depiction of particular skills and abilities pertinent to a specific character will be provided

Fridays - Missions log - Detailed entries of the various missions (serious or otherwise) our protagonists embark on
