Bio:Â
They say that beauty can be wielded like a powerful weapon.Â
To a young noble growing up in a newly formed Troy, it was advantageous and exploitable ammunition indeed, but none ever understood the double edge of such a thing quite like Ganymede. For every benefit there was an equal detriment, namely in the shape of royalty...Kings and Queens of far off lands; aristocrats and eupatridaes and social elites that, given her fatherâs newfound city-state, were not people to be making fools of in the midst of trade talks. Her parents were never exceptionally cruel to her per say, but Troy was their child more so than she ever was, and the heavens forbid Ganymede should ever do anything to jeopardise their envisioned paradise.Â
A small respite from the tedious politics came in the form of a secluded hillside, far away from entitled smirks, wondering eyes and suffocating walls she was supposed to love -- It had been the very spot where Zeus had found her as it happened, a most fateful evening indeed, and sheâd been swept up into the land of the Gods before she even fully grasped what such a thing meant.Â
A human suddenly elevated to Goddess with sparse knowledge of celestials, was it any wonder she didnât know what she was doing? Becoming a lover of their King, making messes and merriment and reveling in their revelry. From a rocky start of certain status she didnât ask for, Ganymede grew to love the occupation sheâd been tasked with since Hebeâs marriage to Heracles. Getting on well enough with most of the Gods, never viewing herself as any kind of equal, the lack of ego seemingly going a long way to keeping the peace.....
Itâs all history which she remembers none of. Instead she currently goes by the name of Gia Rojas, estranged from her parents and their conservative ways, having run away from Cuba to work as a bartender in the heart of Athens for as long as she can recall. Gia has no particular aspirations for anything more. She has a perfect work-life balance, a job that can pay the bills she greatly enjoys, coworkers who are closer to family than her own -- To her, itâs certainly a far better life than to be rich and overworked. Â
âHoney!â Gia exclaimed, perhaps underestimating her sobriety to a tiny extent as she wrapped her arms around the seated womanâs shoulders from behind and planted a quick kiss on her cheek. âOr, shit, is it Hera tonight? Either way, you look absolutely stunning, lady. Queendom most definitely suits you.â
"Yeah, clearly.â She chucked, nudging her shoulder into Amaliaâs lightly as she changed the topic from a casual greeting. âSo whatâs got you so distracted anyway, hm? It better not be another embarrassing date situation I swear to God...â Â
persephone laughed lightly along with her, not really being able to pin point how the other felt about her statement that her mother was a god. âperfect, letâs go!â she smiled, weaving in and out of the tables until she reached the end to look at the name plates. âah yes, so hera is stilling next to him⊠and ganymede. looks like i found your spot too.â
âAfter you.â Gia suggested with an easy smile of her own, following the womanâs lead effortlessly as they manoeuvred their way to the head of one of the tables. It was a little disappointing that it gave no indication as to who would be coined the name for the evening, about to question it before the continuing comment had her brows furrowing faintly. âYou..think thatâs me? How do you know?âÂ
anastasiaâs smile slowly started to grow the more she talked to gia. âwell iâm beyond flattered,â she chuckled, feeling her cheeks heat up. âtrust me, you more than held up. for the fact that iâm still thinking about it says enough doesnât it?â
Gia pulled her lower lip between her teeth to prevent herself from commenting on the adorable blush weaving its way onto Anaâs cheeks. Normally, she wouldnât think twice about it, but their current trajectory was heading a certain way and the event was proving a little too obscure to miss a moment of. âHm, well that was the aim, cutie. But any more talk like that and weâre not going to be sticking around for the end of the evening.â She added with a salacious smirk, eyes glinting with amusement at the thought. âSo can I get you a drink at least? Scotch neat if I remember correctly, or are we trying something new tonight?â  Â
the words were perhaps not ones she had expected, but she was appreciative of the introspective admission all the same. her gaze shifting from the table to ganymede instead of relaxing back to offer some space. âthatâs because deep down you want me to.â nyx answered blatantly, as thought it was the most obvious thing in the world. gia may have hid it well under her own confidence and flirtatious nature, yet those drawn to powerful people could usually enjoy being led to a certain extent â the cheek of the womanâs offhanded retort was nothing new, but the boldness was almost retributional. leaning in closer still as her voice lowered. âand that some reason is certainly not cutlery placement, or need i remind you?â
âI...â Gia trailed off briefly, attempting to think of an adequate retort and coming up blank. She wanted to argue the point, to come up with some idea to debunk such a notion -- But that was perhaps the problem when it came to Nyx. She was deadly honest, almost confrontationally so. It was equal parts refreshing at it was unsparing, yet it didnât mean she always liked how well the older woman could read her. Shifting in her seat a little, she clearing her throat and tried to ignore the subliminal accuracy of the comment, instead settling for changing the subject entirely with the first thing that came to mind. âSo, what do you think of the name cards?â The closer proximity was at least enough to snap her back to the present. Something more tangible and perpetual she could focus on as she practically felt the brunetteâs breath brush her cheek. Gia tilted her head to hold Nyxâs gaze with a lazy, sultry smile curling onto her features. âWell I guess it depends how you plan to remind me...âÂ
âoh, i always find a way to enjoy myself at parties.â she smiled down at her, adding, âbut youâll definitely make it easier.â ganymede â gia, she supposed she should get used to calling her gia â still fit in next to her so easily. that spark wasnât everything that she wanted, but she would treasure it, determined as she was to win everything else back. she paused at the question, something twisting in her throat. âthe cupbearer of the gods, zeusâ favorite lover. the king loved ganymede so much that she made her immortal.â to cover up the feeling threatening to tug at her heartstrings, she added with a teasing smirk, âi guess that means weâre meant to be.â
âIs that right?â She questioned firstly, a mischievous smirk curling at the corner of her lips. âYouâll have to be careful giving me that kind of ammunition, or I might just keep you from your hostly duties tonight.â If past experience was anything to go by then it certainly wouldnât be difficult to get lost in Zaraâs company, but the woman was a host for the evening, Gia could hardly keep her to herself...The explanation Zara gave held little weight to the tenuous tone in which it was provided. There was a hint of something almost -- melancholy about it, and sheâd moved a little closer reflexively, almost reaching out a hand until her mind caught up enough to stop herself. âIt sounds like a beautiful story.â She offered gently instead, before the light flirtations were back in full force and a soft chuckle fell from her lips regardless. âI guess it does. You know, you really didnât need to be quite so subtle about it.â  Â
Charlotte shook her head, âNo, youâre definitely not the only one confused.â She glanced around the room at a few other people looking at the name cards with confusion. Giving a conspiratorial smile, she asked, âShould we take one of those Buzzfeed quizzes and just go with those results?â As for the other young womanâs question, she nodded, âYes, I had a glass of champagne earlier.â She wasnât likely to drink any more until dinner. She was, after all, a cheap drunk. âIâd be happy to accompany you to the bar though,â she added.Â
âIt couldnât hurt, do you think anyone would actually care enough to kick us out of their seats?â Gia played along, honestly unsure how else they were meant to figure it out. The idea might have even held more weight were it not for the certainty half the guest list would end up as either Hades or Zeus. âIâm already on my second glass, any more before food probably isnât the best idea.â She chuckled. âBut once the dancing starts, Iâll certainly be taking you up on that offer.â
sephâs head snapped up as she gave the other goddess an easy smile. âoh no no, sheâs not. demeter is my mother, iâm just glad sheâs not next to me.â her head turned around a bit until she found the head of all the tables. âshall we have a look if my theory is correct?â
âAh, okay that makes - a lot more sense.â She chuckled lightly. It was odd to think how interested she was in Zaraâs life having only met her once before tonight, but she tried not to dwell on it. âSure, why not right?â Gia was honestly more intrigued with who Hera might be than the actual placement, but a little snooping never hurt anyone. Â
âagreed. reminds me of too many dinner parties my parents liked to throw,â she chuckled, smiling at gia. âwell.. youâre not wrong there. i donât think you could be off my mind though. unless i was not what you expected.â
âYeah...I can imagine that wasnât the most homely of experiences.â Her own home life may have been the polar opposite, but it didnât mean she couldnât sympathise. âBaby you were better than I expected.â She teased playfully. âAnd that bar was already pretty high, so Iâm just glad to hear I held up.â   Â
it was odd to be sat around a table with so many yet to recall who they were. she had never been one for such lavish affairs over the millennia, nothing about that had changed now, but it had been possibility that both held her intrigue and gave her reason to attend. the last time theyâd all been together like this had not ended well â nyx had hardly expected to be placed so close to ganymede and, by default, zeus. yet here they were, and she would aim not to provoke in the face of it. âno, i think you might struggle there.â she admitted, offering the younger goddess a small smile before raising a brow in challenge at the wandering eyes. nyx was hardly some simpering schoolgirl that would blush under such an unabashed gaze, even if she did have to lick the amused smirk from her lips as a result. âare you quite certain? i seem to recall a few times youâve used flattery for your own agenda, giaâŠâ she leaned forwards despite her words, fingers subtly sliding the salad fork closer. âare we happy now?â   Â
Gia had learnt long ago that there was never any point trying to ruffle Nyxâs feathers. The woman was too poised, and collected, and confident in a way that even she would sometimes find herself a little envious of. Still there was no harm in admiring beauty. Seated between Nyx and Zara currently conversing with Honey, they certainly held it in abundance. â...Maybe so.â She chuckled faintly. âBut I donât recall you ever complaining. Itâs not like you donât usually get your own way in the end regardless.â Gia watched as the woman slipped the ambiguous fork a little closer, about to thank her and leave it there until the comment that followed. Her tone taking on a more playful lull in response. âEcstatic. I knew there was some reason to keep you around.â
it was easy to slip back into old habits. zeus took the glass from ganymede, giving her a pleased smile in return. âtaking care of me, are you ? â she took a sip of the champagne, subtly studying the other womanâs face. she wasnât sure what she was looking for, exactly â a flicker of recognition, maybe. there was a part of her that still held out some hope, after their encounter at the bar. âoh, itâs a theme, only for fun,â she lied. âyouâre ganymede. your seat is by my left side.â she was sitting at the head of the table, of course. & hera was at her right.
âWell someone has to.â Gia quipped back easily, nudging her a little. âBesides youâve gone to all this effort, why shouldnât you get to enjoy yourself too?â It always was slightly difficult to ignore just how natural it felt to be around Zara. Even during their first encounter, the woman had seemed far more like an old friend than a new acquaintance -- Still, she was hardly planning to linger on such ridiculous thoughts. âGanymede...â She echoed, the name feeling oddly familiar on her tongue despite the fact sheâd never heard it before. Yet another notion for her to not linger on. âRemind me again who that is?â  Â
Charlotte frowned slightly as she looked over the name cards. Like their hosts, they listed only the names of old Greek gods and goddesses. What was not listed was who corresponded to each figure. She pulled out her invitation again to see if there was any hint there. A once over didnât reveal any additional information. When someone asked a question near her, Charlotte glanced up, shaking her head as she did so. âNo, there doesnât seem to be any hints,â she replied.Â
âOkay good. I was starting to think it was just me being dumb or something.â Gia chuckled faintly, thankful to not simply be missing an obvious thing and making a fool or herself as she took a sip of her champagne. âYouâd think theyâd at least have given us these names at the gates, but when in Greece I guess...Have you gotten yourself a drink yet?âÂ
Once the initial confusion of the assigned seating was out of the way, Gia had found herself greatly enjoying the evening. Sheâd been seated with a few familiar faces at the very least, and the first couple of dishes had been divine. Still, it wasnât all unreservedly plain sailing, leaning over to where Nyx sat and lowering her voice a little. âIs it bad that Iâm not entirely sure what cutlery youâre supposed to use for this course? I was hoping it would just go outwards in, but I donât think a spoon will suffice.â She commented with a light smile, before allowing her gaze to wander over Nyxâs attire with a lazy appreciation. âYou look incredible by the way - And Iâm definitely not just saying that so youâll help me.â Â
âat least my mother isnât here to sit next to me,â seph sighed as she placed her name card back on the table. âknowing zara though, i bet sheâs at the head of the table.. but did she put hera next to herself.â the goddess looked around before sneaking around the tables, trying to notice who was sat next to one another.
âZaraâs your mother?â Gia questioned, head tilting to the side as curiosity well and truly got the best of her. It perhaps wasnât the aspect of conversation she was supposed to have focused on as the brunette glanced over name cards she didnât understand, but she couldnât seem to help it. âWell if sheâs Zeus then itâs got to be Hera next to her, surely?âÂ
âoh i love a good party!â anastasia mused, looking around the room and all the artistry. âiâm surprised to see you here though. i feel like iâve run into you once and now iâm seeing you everywhere.â
âYeah me too. It might be a little grand for my taste, but I can appreciate decadence for a night.â Gia chuckled faintly, a playful smirk winding its way onto her lips. âWell, Iâd say we did a little more than run into each other...but itâs good to know Iâm on your mind.âÂ
