i saw suf referred to as a “therapyspeak show” and while not entirely wrong we must not forget that this guy’s untreated mental illness was so bad he went into violent rages all the time and he killed someone and would have killed again. could a true, pure therapyspeak show do that

Also to me, part of the point is that the therapy speak DOES NOT WORK. At least not without true therapy. Steven spends a bunch of his arc in future trying to apply the strategies that worked on others onto himself and it does not work. Have we forgotten the cactus episode. Steven is very very good at therapy speak but it only works when coming from someone you actually care about in specific circumstances, not always, and that's part of the point.
