I think identity disturbance beyond the presence of alters should be talked about more in CDD spaces. Even between individual alters, we often struggle to tell who I am at each time. It’s never a clear cut “X alter likes Y and behaves like Z”.

Cause people act like it's soooo easy to figure out who's fronting- "just ask yourself questions!" Yeah so alters are also multifaceted and also having a dissociative disorder means you're gonna kinda be a fog of whatever the fuck sometimes. There will be times I think I know who I am and all of a sudden feel a way I've never felt before. Is it passive influence? Is it just me having a bad day? Who fucking knows. And in any case it absolutely sucks to not know who you are or what you are or what you like because of identity disturbance.

i wish i could just. look like me. and be me. and do the shit i want to do. its so infuriating having to hold myself to standards the i just can't keep up with. i have to be so much better than i actually am i or i have to fuck off out of front because im just. not capable of not being self destructive. our life is better because im not the one leading it and idk how much i appreciate it versus resent it. we have friends and we're a caring family member and we have projects we work on and we're heading into third year of uni and we're in therapy and we have a partner and yeah i'd be doing some of these things if it were just me but. if im being entirely honest with myself if it were just me calling the shots (with no one inside to take over or help regulate me) id be a complete burnout stoner with at best a friend group of people who hated me. i don't think im unlovable. at least i don't think i think im unlovable. but im just so angry and afraid of everything and even when im happy and relaxed im scared i come off as aggressive. i hate that everyone else feels so fulfilled by handling conflict in a calm orderly fashion and that it just makes me feel more upset. i want to get hurt by someone and just be able to shout at them in retaliation and not feel bad about it. how come so many people in our life are allowed to do that but we cant? why cant i? i always feel like everyone (in the system) has this close eye on me, watching to make sure i don't slip up and regress to old behaviours and its just so angering. why doesn't anyone else get scrutinized like that? why just me? im proud of the progress ive made but frankly it's no one else's business. if they want to be proud, be proud. why is the work i put into myself only worth celebrating if i do it perfectly? so what if i fuck up. so what if i want to break something. so what if i want to do something i know hurts me solely because i want it to hurt. i know there's no world where im not accountable to other people (both internal and external) but sometimes i wish the only factor that went into choosing to do or not to do my self-destructive bs was whether i Want to. And i mean truly, all-things-considered, critically thought out, want to. because most of the time i don't. and i make the decision not to do those things of my own volition. but i want to know it's me making those decisions and not someone else (directly or indirectly) making them for me. and sometimes i just want to be allowed to give in to the smaller impulses. i don't think that's so wrong

finally actually doing an art study/practice sketch so i can start making comics again lmaoo

i might write more/make a longer post about this later but it's occurred to me that something we've never really talked about (online or in person) is how we just..don't have a host. we used to. we don't anymore. we haven't for at least 3 years i'd guess but probably longer.

it's something i never really see talked about online, at least not frequently, and idk why that is (bc having a host is the most common experience? bc the clinical field still runs on the assumption that theres a host? bc people cling on to the residual idea of there being "the Real/Original One" in a system? bc im just not looking in the right places? who knows) but then again, we haven't talked about it either

What helped me write trauma better is remembering that the nervous system learns predictions. If danger used to come after quiet, calm can feel threatening. If kindness used to come with a price, kindness can feel suspicious. So healing is not just “they know they’re safe now.” Healing is the slow, annoying, deeply unfair process of teaching the body that the old prediction is not always the present truth.
