I write these words with a heavy heart… My friend Abdul Rahman is going through unbearable times.

After shocking medical news, we were told that the borders might open next week, but the biggest shock was that his mother's condition has been classified as extremely critical. The doctors were clear:

She must be evacuated for treatment as soon as possible, and any delay could mean losing her.

His mother is battling cancer; her body is ravaged by chemotherapy. She spends most of her time between exhaustion and sleep, sometimes unable even to speak. Pain is her constant companion… and fear is our constant companion.

Abdul Rahman's campaign aims to raise €30,000 to secure treatment for his mother and save her life, but so far, only €12,280 has been collected… and the remaining amount is beyond their means, and more difficult than they can bear. I write to you today as a friend who sees the despair in his eyes every day…

Seeing him fear losing his mother, all he has left in this world. Any donation, no matter how small, could be the difference between life and death. Hey Snapedom, I need some input. I've been wondering what both fic writers and readers think about a tricky little grammar situation.

In my writing, I lean toward writing Severus' name in the possessive form like this, as opposed to Severus's. I know they're technically both correct, but was told by an alpha reader that the first form is somewhat distracting.

I tend to think the apostrophe at the end feels more streamlined, but I could be wrong. What feels most natural to you guys when you see it on the page (or screen, as it were)?

Y’know I reblogged this a bit ago and was saved from financial probation and getting kicked out of school because of it, just mere months from graduation.
