The Jedi are human (or alien equivalent) and Yoda isn’t a saint any more than any other living, breathing being. He struggles. He seeks peace and acceptance and enlightenment. Sometimes he gets there, sometimes he doesn’t. It’s never been about having to be perfect, but about the seeking rather than the sainthood.

My favorite bit of folk medicine is that we’re supposed to take wormwood for intestinal parasites. It’s actually really effective, which is how wormwood got its name, but the reason it’s effective is that wormwood is literally just poison and it happens to kill the worms slightly faster than it kills you.

No, but seriously, the reason plants have useful chemicals that we can use medicinally is because they have evolved those chemicals as poisons to prevent predation. Humans were just smart enough to figure out through trial and error how to balance these chemical extracts to counteract abnormalities in our bodies.

Like: “Hm. This plant toxin is a cardiac glycoside and increases heart output. In a healthy person, this is highly unpleasant and may even cause death. But… for my aging aunt over here who’s suffering from congestive heart failure… a little foxglove extract taken every morning with her tea would probably help her circulation and keep her weary heart kickin’ for a few more years.”

The climb was agonizing. Each time he reached for a handhold, a hot knife of pain stabbed his left side. Dizziness threatened to send him tumbling back into the abyss, but he kept on, one hand over the other, until his fingers grasped the top.

Ben made it only a few steps before he crumpled, forced himself to his feet again, limped forward.

No, Rey would never be that way. Those thoughts were the vestiges of Snoke’s conditioning. Rey was good. Kind. No matter what had happened between them, what he’d done, she’d always showed him compassion.

He cast his gaze around the ruined cathedral, as if answera might lie in the shadows. But there was nothing. Just aching emptiness and a sense of loss so sharp and terrible it was like a vise around his gut.

Ben pulled her against his chest and hugged her to himself for a moment. He’d just found her. Really found her. He’d wasted his life, he knew that now. But anyone who could have showed him the way forward, helped him be Ben again, was gone. Luke. His parents. And now Rey.

He couldn’t make himself believe it. Rey was the strongest person he’d ever known. She’d fought off the darkness in a way he never could. She’d saved everyone. She deserved better.

As he held her, he sensed something. The tiniest spark. And he realized: The Force hadn’t taken her yet.

He knew exactly what Rey would do, in his place. It was the easiest decision he’d ever made.

He cradled her gently and placed his hand on her abdomen. He closed his eyes. Called on the Force. Ben didn’t have much strength left, and he was about to do something he’d never done before. Fortunately, Rey has shown him how to give.

“I can’t believe Obi-Wan just LET Anakin be in a relationship with Padme” like, what do people expect him to have done about it, exactly? Anakin was a grown-ass man! Was he supposed to block the doorways? Threaten him? Hire a PI to follow him everywhere he went and alert Obi-Wan ASAP if some Forbidden Wedded Sexual Shenanigans were afoot?

Is the insinuation here that Obi-Wan should have like…ratted him out? God, can you even imagine the discourse if he’d ratted Anakin and Padme out to the council and Anakin had been asked to leave the Order because he wasn’t going to be given Special Exception to have his cake and eat it too? I’m not even going to GO INTO IT.

On top of all of this, Obi-Wan is HIMSELF a grown-ass man who has a FUCKTON OF STUFF ON HIS PLATE at the moment. He’s got how many lives in his hands at any given time? He doesn’t have the bandwidth to completely micro-manage Anakin’s personal life, OK? And even then, he STILL tries to get Anakin to talk to him about WTF is going on with him MULTIPLE TIMES, to no avail. In that last TCW episode ANAKIN DOESN’T EVEN REPLY; he literally just stares and walks away. WHO CAN WORK WITH THAT MATERIAL? GAAAAAH.

Some important canonical details about Leia Organa:

She had a legion of aunts who always did their best to make her “proper” and “princesslike”, and she reluctantly accepted their tutelage despite it going against her nature.

She decided to join the Senate because she couldn’t stand being a cloistered royal and doing nothing to change the Galaxy for the better.

When it became clear that the Senate wouldn’t help her with these goals, she joined the Rebellion.

She is not a leader in the Alliance at the Start of A New Hope, but a new recruit trying desperately to prove to both herself and the Alliance leaders that she can be an asset to them.

She relies on anger to achieve clarity and focus in dangerous situations. (The wording is very specific, given her heritage.)

There’s little she enjoys more than snarking at stuffy, self-important Imperials like Tarkin.

At the age of 13, she went through a stage of doing the exact opposite of what she was told to do.
