pages 30 and 31 from The Transformers #73 by Alan Kupperberg
optimus prime did 9/11
Art for issue #73 and Kupperberg still draws Megatron with his early off-model helmet as seen in issues #1–3. Odd.
Transformers UK #114 -- “Wanted: Galvatron - Dead or Alive!”
Nautilus rates pretty highly in the “cool design for a throwaway generic Transformer” stakes.
Pencils: Will Simpson Inks: Tim Perkins Script: Simon Furman Letters: Richard Starkings Colours: Steve White
Transformers: Head Masters house ad (1987).
Transformers in the comics have a long history of surviving without their head (going way back to Optimus Prime in US #5!), so the concept behind the Headmasters is a logical continuation of that concept, I guess... Pencils: Frank Springer Inks: Ian Akin and Brian Garvey Script: Bob Budiansky
Transformers US #80/UK #332 -- “The End of the Road!”
Fangry definitely gets what was coming to him.
Pencils: Andrew Wildman Inks: Stephen Baskerville Script: Simon Furman Letters: Rick Parker Colours: Nel Yomtov
This took ages! SO MANY HANDS.
Homage to an issue in the Marvel TF comics!
Beautiful work, inspired by the events of Transformers US #56/UK #240 -- “Back from the Dead!”
Transformers UK #244 -- “Two Megatrons!”
Following on from yesterday’s post: here’s some fantastic lampshading of the Megatron/Straxus retcon from Ravage. I think he speaks for pretty much every long-time reader of the UK comics here...
Art: Geoff Senior Script: Simon Furman Letters: Glib
Transformers US #59/UK #244 -- “The Resurrection Gambit!”
Why do I feel that this panel is Simon Furman’s snide commentary on his own clumsy Megatron/Straxus timeline retcon that was shown in this issue’s UK black and white backup strip? Pencils: Jose Delbo Inks: Dave Hunt Script: Simon Furman Letters: Jim Massara Colors: Nel Yomtov
Transformers UK #98 – “... The Harder They Die!”
If I had to pick a single favourite issue from the entire run of the UK Transformers title, it would have to be this one. Megatron and Prime’s contrasting returns to Cybertron (Prime’s despair here is juxtaposed nicely with Megatron’s elation just a few pages previously), the desperate flashback battle with the Predacons that brought them there, the shock return of Lord Straxus, and some Wreckers thrown into the mix for good measure. That’s a lot for just 11 pages of story! Throw in some of Geoff Senior’s all-time best interior art for the title and you’ve got a stone-cold classic.

What’s your favourite issue of Marvel’s Transformers, UK or US?
Panels from “The Next Best Thing to Being There!” (Marvel Transformers Issue 10)
Bomber Bill, AKA Huffer’s best friend. He has a truck named Bessie, because apparently that’s a name for machines and bovines only.
Dying laughing here. Pencils: Ricardo Villamonte Inks: Brad Joyce Script: Bob Budiansky Letters: Janice Chiang Colours: Nel Yomtov
Transformers UK #100 – “Distant Thunder!”
The mysterious case of Outback’s movable wound: clearly on his left side in the first panel (consistent with how the injury was received in the previous issue), it has migrated to his right side in the two panels immediately following. Prime’s propped-up leg has also swapped sides, so I wonder whether these two panels were flipped to allow the lettering to flow better?
Pencils: Will Simpson Inks: Tim Perkins Script: Simon Furman Letters: Annie Halfacree Colours: Steve White
Transformers US #74/UK #318 - “The Void!”
Just this once, Scorponok decides that exposition is unnecessary.
Pencils: Andrew Wildman Inks: Stephen Baskerville Script: Simon Furman Letters: Rick Parker Colours: Nel Yomtov
Transformers UK #261 – “Starting Over!”
Prowl is distinctly unimpressed by all the gimmicks advances in Cybertronian technology that have occurred while he’s been out of action.
Art: Staz Script: Simon Furman Letters: Stuart Bartlett
Transformers UK #64 – “Second Generation!”
Mixmaster is amusingly unimpressed by his toy store shelf replacements.
Pencils: Barry Kitson Inks: Tim Perkins Script: Simon Furman Colours: W & P (who?) Letters: Mike Scott
Transformers UK #97 Cover – “Prey! Part 2″
One of the all-time classic UK covers by Geoff Senior.
Transformers UK #82 -- “Target: 2006″
The first appearance -- and mention -- of the infamous Maccadam’s Old Oil House in the UK comics continuity. In a wonderful piece of meta-fandom, Maccadam’s has gone on to represent the creative aspect of the Transformers fandom, especially here on Tumblr where the #maccadam tag is used to help sort quality Transformers content from drivel about the Bayformers and Megan Fox.
Art: Ron “Judge Dredd” Smith Script: Simon Furman Letters: Richard Starkings Colors: Ron Burns
Transformers US #25/UK #107 – “Gone But Not Forgotten!”
Don’t worry, kids – Brawl will be just fine!
Pencils: Don Perlin Inks: Ian Akin and Brian Garvey Script: Bob Budiansky Letters: Janice Chiang Colours: Nel Yomtov
