This is something I’ve been wanting to make for a while. I kept turning over different ideas in my head and kept thinking all of its already been done before. It also feels like a big statement and really putting myself out there, which terrifies me. I hope people would notice that I’m LGBTQIA+ based on the amount of rainbows I put in my art. I came out as nonbinary a few years ago, but haven’t really made a big announcement or anything because it’s more for me than for anyone else. And that’s how I came up with these stickers, because I wanted them. And now I can share them with friends and family at the very least. I feel very fortunate that I get to live in an area that is supportive and that I have friends and family that are part of that. I will have these stickers available during my open studio and they are also available now on my website.

One of my favourite bits of media history trivia is that back in the Elizabethan period, people used to publish unauthorised copies of plays by sending someone who was good with shorthand to discretely write down all of the play's dialogue while they watched it, then reconstructing the play by combining those notes with audience interviews to recover the stage directions; in some cases, these unauthorised copies are the only record of a given play that survives to the present day. It's one of my favourites for two reasons:

It demonstrates that piracy has always lay at the heart of media preservation; and

Imagine being the 1603 equivalent of the guy with the cell phone camera in the movie theatre, furtively scribbling down notes in a little book and hoping Shakespeare himself doesn't catch you.
