Also, this might just be my writer brain reading too much into everything—but, did anyone find it a little weird that they made a specific moment of Lady Cowper writing about the Bridgertons? And how Lady Cowper specifically said that it felt good knocking “them” down a peg? And how Cressida specifically said “Did we have to write such things about them?”

Like, I know I’m still partially hoping that Lady Cowper is Sophie’s step-mother—but that definitely felt too on the nose for me?

I’m not particularly invested in the whole Luke/Nicola shipping thing at all, but Netflix and the PR for Bridgerton needs to take some accountablility for how much attention this whole ordeal is getting. The official Bridgerton account was fanning the flames quote tweeting and responding to Luke and Nicola clips from their interviews.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen that from a show before it was so bizarre. It would be different if the official Bridgerton account was just responding to actual Polin clips from the show, but they took a step too far thus worsening this firestorm. These official accounts need to be more professional.

Also, I am unbelievably happy that S4 will have the costume designer that styled everyone during S1. Hopefully they bring in different editors and the makeup department gets it together because this last season did not feel like the Bridgerton I loved. Can’t do anything about Jess being the showrunner unfortunately.

Lord Debling was probably the most enjoyable character from S3 for the simple fact that his character had a fresh personality and a comprehensive plot unlike everyone else this season.

I always found it weird how benedict never tried to sneak sophie out and go into town while they were at number 5. I'd love to see him sneaking her out on one of her days off and go to a part of town where no one knows them and they could just live freelyfor a few hours. Maybe a non-debauched art party? A concert? a picnic at a park on east side? Hell, if eloise can run around with political radicals without getting caught we can have a proper regency benophie date!!!

I actually really like the idea of a lil regency Benophie date, though I know it would take Sophie a hell of a lot of convincing before Benedict could get her to venture out with him, and (in my angst-driven mindset) the date would always end on a bittersweet note. There's a few lil routes this idea could go down in my opinion.

a) Benedict makes a deal with his valet/a member of his staff to borrow their clothes so when he takes Sophie to a quieter part of town he's dressed just like any other member of the serving class. Even though he had assured her nobody would recognise them in this part of town, Sophie had still been cautious that they could bump into someone around those parts, which is why Benedict decided he would effectively get into costume. Benedict gets a real kick out of blending in with the working class and he and Sophie have fun on their date, though I can still see the day ending on a melancholy note. I could see Benedict perhaps making some careless comment about being glad he only had to pretend to be a servant for a day, or even saying they could enjoy more days like this when Sophie accepts his offer. Sophie would suddenly become disenchanted as Benedict still views the world from his ivory tower and regards her position as a joke, and though Benedict would insist he didn't mean to offend her, Sophie would still end up walking off back to Number Five, desperate to quell the disappointment in her heart.

b) Benedict takes her to one of his art parties, however when they arrive it's become far more debauched than he thought it would be. Sophie's quite scandalised by it all as Benedict ushers her down the hallway past people cavorting on lounges and up against walls, leading her into the artist's den. He offers her a drink, trying to treat it like a totally normal date and choosing to ignore the intoxicated artists and fornicating lovers all around them, but poor Sophie is utterly bewildered by the state of affairs surrounding them. Benedict says he thought they could just sit in a quiet corner and chat as he paints, perhaps Sophie might want to paint herself, but since the nude models are in the middle of an orgy in the centre of the room, he ushers her out into the garden, hoping things will be less crazy out there. Though the garden is quiet, Sophie is close to tears and steps away from him when he tries to comfort her. She's distressed, asking if the illicit goings-on within the party are what he expects of her, what he would want from her if she agreed to be his mistress, if he'd expect her to join in with the debauchery of it all. Benedict quickly realises the grave error he's made in bringing Sophie to the party and insists he only brought her to the house because they would be free of judgement with a group of open-minded people, but Sophie's too shaken to listen and demands to be taken back to Number Five.

c) They go to the east end of town and enjoy living freely together for several hours, both of them forgetting their troubles for the short amount of time that they have. The dream shatters when Benedict spots a nobleman he's somewhat friendly with and quickly pulls Sophie out of sight down an alleyway. He carefully watches the gentleman and is stunned that the man he knows to be married with a couple of children is conducting an affair with a working class woman, and it's clearly evident that the children surrounding them are his. Benedict realises that this gentleman is living the very life that Benedict is expecting will assume once Sophie accepts his offer. He notices the gentleman, typically surly within the Ton in Mayfair (and particularly with his wife), resembles a totally different man as he's all smiles with his mistress and the children he's had with her. It dawns on Benedict that he'd only live a half-life if he managed to keep Sophie; he would know happiness with her but also know the very opposite when he's among the Ton and the rest of his family. Sophie would clear her throat and request to return to Number Five, having observed the life of a gentleman's mistress and wishing to distance herself from it as quickly as she possibly can. The pair would depart, both feeling particularly crestfallen, with the happy memory of their date already falling by the wayside.

The show could address Kate’s trauma while introducing Sophie & highlighting the similarities & differences between Kate’s pain of losing a father who loved her deeply & Sophie losing a father who ignored but supported & educated her. Kate & Sophie know the fear of being left alone in the world as young gently bred women fully dependent on their step mothers.

I think we’re going to be heartbroken in very different ways it may not seem possible but I think we’re going to love Kate even more then we already do. I expect to absolutely ache for Sophie who was grossly mistreated, bullied and abused by her stepmother.

I feel like we’re going to have serious sister-in-law bonding potential between Kate & Sophie which will be nice because of how close their husbands are.

Meanwhile in the background we can have Benophie meet and his search for her begin while we get Polin starting and Colin can leave for Scotland on the outs with Pen when she calls him out and distances herself from him for making her look like a fool at her family’s ball by basically saying he’d have to be mad to ever dream of courting her. That’d set him up to miss her letters on his travels. Then he can come back and see her in a whole new light.

Maybe Edwina can reunite for a love match with Lord Lumley or Prince Friedrich or we’ll actually get Mr. Bagwell so we get more Kanthony while giving time and space to the Benophie and Polin stories. That would allow us an end game wedding and wrap up Edwina’s search for a match in time for Edmund Bridgerton II to join the fam and Marina to kick the bucket.

People were pointing out on Twitter that the way Dexter: New Blood ended was a carbon copy of the Prodigal Son s2 finale. Cause like??? They're in a forest. Dexter says "There's no other way." The son is afraid of being like his dad. Ends up injuring the dad (and it's ambiguous about whether or not he's dead). Anyway Showtime pick up Prodigal Son if you like that kind of plot

So someone on PSON twitter is calculating the numbers and PSON got nearly 4 million views overall for s2 including both live and DVR. That's not even counting the streaming numbers which I imagine would double those numbers. Their new shows? Premiered at a little over 1 million and Fox is calling them "hits" 🥴
